Ask students the questions to introduce the topic and arouse students’ awareness of what they have learned in the previous part. (1) What should a good friend be like? (A good friend is someone who makes me happy.) (2) What qualities should a good friend have? (I think a friend should be patient/kind...) 2. Ask students to have a competition to play a game to arouse their interest. Choose the words that describe good qualities. Step 2 Reading 1. Create the setting (1) Create the setting where Jenny turned to me for help on We-chat. She talked about the problem with her friend Amy. (2) Ask students the question: when you have trouble, where do you usually to for help? Jenny’s friend Amy posted an article (friendship on the rocks: please advise!) on the forum. Here “on the rocks” means in trouble. 2. Fast reading Students get to known the basic information of the post and know some background information between Amy and Jenny.
