· 教学过程:
Step 1 Warming up
1. Ask students the questions to introduce the topic and arouse students’ awareness of what they have learned in the previous part.
(1) What should a good friend be like?
(A good friend is someone who makes me happy.)
(2) What qualities should a good friend have?
(I think a friend should be patient/kind...)
2. Ask students to have a competition to play a game to arouse their interest.
Choose the words that describe good qualities.
Step 2 Reading
1. Create the setting
(1) Create the setting where Jenny turned to me for help on We-chat. She talked about the problem with her friend Amy.
(2) Ask students the question: when you have trouble, where do you usually to for help?
Jenny’s friend Amy posted an article (friendship on the rocks: please advise!) on the forum. Here “on the rocks” means in trouble.
2. Fast reading
Students get to known the basic information of the post and know some background information between Amy and Jenny. (from who, what, when)(task 1)
3. Careful reading
(1) Ask students to read the post carefully and finish the chart to get to know Amy’s problem. (task 2)
(2) Students have a competition again to get to know more detailed information about the friendship between Amy and Jenny.
(3) Asks tudents to read about the two replies and find Cindy’s and David’s suggestions. (task 3)
