A master of the five-word line, Tao has been described as the first great “poet of fields and gardens”. Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) was an American essayist, poet, and philosopher. He began writing nature poetry in his early twenties, with poet Ralph Waldo Emerson as a mentor and friend.
