We all know that cars and factories produce a lot of greenhouse gases. Not many of us know that the animals on the farm such as cows and goats also create emission(排放). These farm animals make lots of methane(甲烷) in the world every day. This is the most common greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide.
Bill Gates decided to do something about the methane these animals create. He invested(投资) in a technology company that aims to reduce the amount of methane coming from farm animals. The company is called Rumin8.It is located in Australia. It has now created a seaweed-based product for animals. The company says its product stops the creation of methane in animals’ stomachs.
Bill Gates is the co-founder of Microsoft. He spent a lot of his money on projects that help the environment. He believes the animal farmed for meat should be reduced because of the impact it has on climate change. He said one third of all greenhouse gas emission may come from farms. A spokesperson for Mr Gates’s energy investment company spoke about the benefits of the new product. He said, “Rumin8 offers a low-cost tool that has already proven to be effective.” He added, “Our team will support Rumin8 in working closely with farmers to spread this solution globally.”
