They have a wide range of origins, such as the seasons of the year, religions and important events. Festivals ①can also be held to honour famous people. Some festivals are held to honour the dead or to satisfy the ancestors, who ②might return either to help or to do harm. Most ancient festivals ③would celebrate the end of cold weather, planting in spring and harvest in autumn. Most restaurants ④ought to be full of people during these festivals. For the Japanese festival Obon, people ⑤should go to clean graves and light incense in memory of their ancestors. And if you study festivals carefully, you ⑥may be surprised to find that different cultures actually have a lot in common after all. She can speak English though she is six. The young man can't carry the big stone. They must be in the classroom. [对点练] (完成句子) ①(2022·全国甲卷)You can_tell_a_lot about a man by how he treats his dogs. ②(2020·天津7月高考)Jim says we can_stay_in_his_house as long as we leave it clean and tidy. ③We should_study_hard for our motherland and ourselves. 二、can与could的用法 1. I can play basketball now, but I couldn't when I was young. Can/Could you lend me a hand? —Can he be in the reading room now? —No, he c
