D．An adventure of a man in the West. 答案：A |由课文学阅读技法| (一)把握短篇小说的文体特点 短篇小说的特点是篇幅短小、情节简洁、人物集中、结构精巧。它往往选取和描绘富有典型意义的生活片段，着力刻画主要人物的性格特征，反映生活的某一侧面，使读者“借一斑略知全豹”。欧·亨利的小说常采用“结尾即是高潮”的写作模式，如本文作者在故事开始用细腻的笔触埋下伏笔，勾勒矛盾，至高潮处矛盾激化，然后笔锋陡转，以一个经典的结尾揭开悬念，为故事画上句号——既在意料之外，又在情理之中，使读者回味无穷。 (二)内化短篇小说的阅读技法 1．一理故事情节，弄清结构特点。故事情节一般分开端、发展、高潮、结局四个部分，有时为了介绍人物和背景在开头加上“序幕”，为了深化升华主题在结尾加上“尾声”。 2．二析人物形象，理解典型意义。主要是抓住人物的肖像、语言、行为和心理活动来分析人物形象。 3．三凭“三要素”，把握小说主题。人物的塑造、情节的构思、环境的设置都是为表现主题服务的，所以，归纳、挖掘小说的主题应从这“三要素”入手。 文意深度理解 (一)阅读理解 1．How old was Jimmy when the story happened?
