本节课是高中英语第一册Unit 1 Life Choices的第三课Life is what you make it，课型是阅读课，介绍了一位叫做张天（译音）的大学毕业生，在偏僻地区做志愿者教师的故事。张天违背父母意愿，只身前往贵州偏远山区支教。在面对学校基础设施及居住环境恶劣的情况下，张天积极努力找到解决办法，不仅使学校基础设施、学生学习及村民的生活都有了很大的变化，而且也赢得了学生和村民的尊敬。

教学目标

在本课结束时，学生能够：

1.通过文章标题和插图，快速阅读，获取文章的主旨大意；

2.获取梳理文中描述张天本人及支教的细节性信息（如支教地点，支教原因等）；

3.基于全文，讨论对张天人生选择以及张天个人品质的认知，发表个人观点。

教学重点：

学生通过阅读，获取关于张天支教的事实性信息，培养学生泛读和精读技巧。

教学难点：

如何引导并鼓励学生评价张天的选择以及其个人品质，表达个人观点。
