5. Make an interview by using the acquired information and structure of the story.

教学过程

Step I Lead-in

    1. Look at some pictures about sports stars.

    2.Watch a short video about Tyrone Bogues and answer the questions:

      ⑴ What do you think of his performance?

      ⑵ What do you think an underdog is?

         a. A dog that is defeated by other dogs

         b. An athlete who seems to have little chance to win

         c.  A company that never wins

      ⑶ Can Paul become a basketball player like Tyrone Bogues?

Step II Read and Explore

    Activity 1: Read Part 1 and answer the questions.( Individual Work)

1)        Why Bogues was his favorite player?

2)        How tall was he? How tall was his favorite player?

3)        What kind of player was he on the team?

4)        How was he treated by the coach?

    Activity 2: List the advantages and disadvantages of Paul. (Pair Work )

    Activity 3: Read the last paragraph of Part 1 and find the basic information of the game. ( Individual Work)   

    Activity 4: Draw a mind map of Part 2 to show how the story develops.

    Activity 5: Read Part 2 and draw a mind map to show the coach’s attitude with evidence according to the events.
