Voyager 1 (旅行者一号) was leaving the solar system—about 6 billion kilometers from the Sun—when managers asked it to look back toward home for a final time. It took the first “family photo” of our solar system on 14th February 1990.
The picture that became known as the Pale Blue Dot (《暗淡蓝点》) shows Earth in a ray of sunlight. Voyager 1 was so far away that Earth was just a point of light about a pixel (像素) in size. The photos gave humans an amazing and fresh idea of their home world and its neighbours. Like Earth, each planet appears as just a point of light.

The family photo remains the first and only time a spaceship has tried to photograph our home solar system. Only three spaceships have been able to see Earth from a place so far away: Voyager 1, Voyager 2 and New Horizons.
For the 30th anniversary of the photo from Voyager 1, NASA created a new version (版本) of the Pale Blue Dot. Using modern machines, it shows the realer colours of the solar system and Earth. It is telling people on Earth to be kinder with one another and to save and protect the pale blue dot, which is the only home we’ve ever known.
