1. Guiding Principles for Teaching
(1) The Requirements of New English Curriculum Standards for High School
The English Curriculum Standards for Ordinary Senior Secondary Schools (2017 Edition Revised in 2020) require that the core literacy of the English subject is a concentrated expression of the nurturing value of the English curriculum, and that it is the gradual formation of correct values, necessary character and key abilities of students through the study of the subject. At the same time, it comprehensively implements the Party's education policy, cultivates and practices socialist core values, implements the fundamental task of establishing morality, further promotes the development of students' core literacy in the English subject on the basis of compulsory education, and fosters socialist builders and successors with a Chinese sentiment, an international outlook, and the ability to communicate cross-culturally.
(2) The Influence of Discourse Analysis Theory
It starts from understanding the whole text, using the language and knowledge learned to explore and capture important linguistic clues, gaining a general impression of the text, and then segmenting the text (discourse) to find out the central idea, and important information, and develop a deeper understanding of the text to develop students' discourse skills. Focus on the micro level from the macro level of discourse analysis, set up questions and activities to stimulate students' interest and develop their logical thinking.
