Have students discuss the following questions. What is the most impressive English speech you can remember? Why does it impress you so much? Have you ever given an English speech in public before? If so, what was your speech about and how did it go? If not, why haven't you? Possible answer The most impressive English speech I have ever listened to is the one given by Steve Jobs at Stanford University. His speech was structured simply and the way he gave the speech was emotional because his stories are inspiring. That's why I find it most impressive and still inspiring even after his death. I gave an English speech about my hometown Nanjing, when I travelled abroad. At first I could hardly face that many people in front of me. But I was more proud than nervous to introduce my city to all those foreigners. The more I talked, the more I felt that they were all interested in my city. They finally thanked me and wanted to visit Nanjing later. We had a great time. I never spoke in public before because I couldn't think of anything funny to hold the audience's attention for a long time. I was also afraid that I would be too nervous to say anything.
