It’s the perfect time to have a picnic and spend a relaxing afternoon at Ontario Parks. Here are four parks with great picnic areas that are easy drives from Ontario city centers.
Bronte Creek Provincial Park
This park is in the Oakville-Burlington area west of Toronto. Plenty of picnic tables are put at different places throughout the park’s day-use area.
Darlington Provincial Park
When you sit in this park near Oshawa, big city life seems miles away. Trees block off light from the picnic area which is beside a wonderful beach with a beautiful view of Lake Ontario. This is the perfect park for a pair of city people wanting to relax for the day. On a great day watch for kite surfers or bring your own!
North Beach Provincial Park
This kilometer-long sandbank is similar to Prince Edward County’s famous Sandbanks Provincial Park, but it is smaller . Canoeists (划独木舟的人) like to start from the beach and travel through North Bay. Picnic things are easy to come by in “The County” .
Murphys Point Provincial Park
If you love fall colors, especially reds, head to this park in Lanark County, south of Ottawa. The county and the park are famous for sugar maples (糖枫). And you can also travel by canoe. Hiking trails (远足小路) include the 1 km Silver Queen Mine Trail which takes you down to an early 1900s mine. If you want to make it an overnight getaway, try booking Murphys Point’s new camp house.
