Jesse is operating the popular surfing magazine with her older sister Tru, while trying to break into the Championship Tour in the World Surf League. “MurMur magazine was an idea we had on a car trip back from the Gold Coast after we listened to a surfing podcast that was completely dominated  by men,” the 20-year-old said. “It was a bit disappointing for me and my sister and we thought we could create something like this for the girls. Then we decided to go for it and it has  rapidly grown since.” “It’s any girl’s dream to be on the championship tour and I have the desire  to be there but I also know that it’s a long road,” she added. “I’m just trying to stick with it and enjoy the process.” Jesse will continue to build MurMur, so ambitious female surfers can have the exposure and competition she never had in the childhood. “When I was growing up competing, we didn’t have it.  Every magazine and front cover were about the boys,” she explained. The She’s Electric competition episodes, a partnership between Hyundai① and Surfing Australia, also helped recognize female surfers competing in grass roots② events.
