【文章】
Being an avid reader is a fundamental part of Cecilia's identity. When she found out she was pregnant, many well-meaning people warned her that reading would become impossible once the baby was born. However, giving up reading was not an option for her. Despite the challenges of motherhood, she was determined to continue reading for her own mental health and set an example for her child.
Initially, she worried when people told her she had to give up reading as if it was an inevitable consequence of parenthood. She found this upsetting because being a reader is an essential part of who she is. But with encouragement from her husband and other literary moms, she persisted in maintaining her habit of reading. During the first year of her daughter's life, she read over one hundred books by using an e-reader to hold it with one hand while nursing or rocking the baby.
Cecilia realized that reading is a form of self-care that helps her stay mentally healthy and refreshed. And she discovered that her daughter also benefits from reading as a way of soothing during tantrums. Reading became a ritual for them both to calm down and help them feel better.
In conclusion, Cecilia believes that good mothers take care of themselves and do what makes them happy, even if it means reading one hundred books to do so. Her story reminds us that we should not let others’ assumptions or expectations limit our choices or sense of personal identity.
