2023届高考英语三轮复习·冲刺押题 外刊阅读理解训练11 ——改编自Chinese rice contributes to global food security 【文章】 In Pakistan, hundreds of tons of hybrid rice seeds from China have arrived and are set to take root in the country in May. These seeds come from the Win-all Hi-tech Seed Co Ltd in Anhui province, which also sells seeds to other countries such as Bangladesh and Angola. Hybrid rice has attracted attention in Pakistan due to its high-yielding properties and resistance to drought. Pakistani farmer Zizam Jagsi, who purchases over 800 kg of Chinese hybrid rice each year, emphasizes that he can earn significant profits from planting just one season. The addition of these advanced hybrid rice seeds will benefit local farmers like Jagsi and boost agricultural production in Pakistan. China's involvement in sharing agricultural techniques also extends beyond selling seed. The country actively sends experts to assist farmers in dozens of countries, helping them plant hybrid rice varieties. In 2015, Win-all Hi-tech Seed Co Ltd set up a branch office in Bangladesh to help the country grow new types of rice. These initiatives by China are evidence of the country's ongoing efforts to expand economic relations with other nations. Through this strategy, China aims to promote mutual gains while positioning itself as a leading global player in the agricultural sector. In summary, the importation of China's hybrid rice seeds to Pakistan signifies an innovative step in modernizing the country's agricultural practices and boosting yield rates. This initiative aligns with China's continuous efforts to broaden its economic ties with other countries across multiple sectors. 【重点词汇&词组】 1. pakistan /ˈpækɪstæn/ n. 巴基斯坦 2. hybrid rice 种植适合于不同生态条件的水稻杂交种类 3. seed /siːd/ n. 种子 4. take root 生根，落户 5. arrive /əˈraɪv/ v. 到达 6.
