All of a sudden, a feeling of responsibility started to overwhelm me. I felt that I needed to help the crawling man. I asked my girlfriend to go first but she refused. After a violent argument, she left angrily. I went back up the mountain. I found the man about one third the way up the slope. I knelt down near him and asked, “Do you need any help?” He said, “No, I’m okay.” He said with a strong determination, “I have been wanting to climb this mountain since I was a little boy. Today I decided to fulfill my lifelong goal.” Hearing what he expressed, I felt that I was the smallest person in the world and wanted to help this man fulfill his goal. I said, “I won’t leave you alone, but I won’t carry you. I want you to complete this mission on your own. But if you feel you cannot do the rest by yourself, or get too tired, I will lift you up and we’ll do this together.” As we were making our way down, I saw the light of a flashlight in the distance. “Who would be climbing up this mountain right now?” I thought to myself. As we closed the gap, I realized the one who was carrying the flashlight was my girlfriend!
