I grew up poor living with my parents, six brothers and three sisters. We had little money, but plenty of love and attention. I was happy and energetic.
It was the summer before my high school, and a friend asked me to do a summer job with him. This meant a chance for money——money for a new bike and new clothes, and the start of savings for a house for my parents. I wanted to have a try.
