Justin Trudeau’s Sock Diplomacy

The first time could have been chalked up to a personal habit. The second seemed like an effort to bring relief to a complicated situation. But the third and fourth (and fifth and so on) times that Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, wore themed socks on a public occasion, it seemed clear that something more calculated was going on.

There was a smart socks show during a NATO (北约) meeting in Brussels in May 2017. Trudeau wore one blue sock and one pink, each with the NATO flag emblazoned (印制) on the side. And that followed a meeting with Enda Kenny (恩达·肯尼), then Prime Minister of Ireland. Trudeau wore Star Wars socks because it happened to be International Star Wars Day. ____2____
