Version:
I'm Li Hua, a student from Senior One. I'd like to share my thoughts on the club fair held last week.
As a participant, I was deeply impressed by last week's club fair. What attracted me most was the Robotics Club's live show, where a student-made robot performed kung fu, drawing cheers from the crowd. However, faced with a wide variety of clubs, some freshmen found it hard to decide which one to sign up for. It would help if the Students’ Union handed out a club booklet a week in advance. Besides, a one-week trial experience would allow us to get a real taste of club activities before making a final choice.
Overall, it was a rewarding experience. I do hope my advice can contribute to a better club fair next time.
The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus 部分中的 “completed around 340 BC”(约建于公元前340年);The Globe Theatre 部分中的 “The original Globe was raised in 1599”(最初的环球剧院建于1599年);The Palau de la Música 部分中的 “opened in 1908”(1908年开放);The National Theatre 部分中的 “Completed in 2007”(2007年建成)。
根据 The Palau de la Música 部分中的 “Visitors can walk through the building during the day, but they have to leave before rehearsals and performances begin.”
Globe 部分提到如今的剧院是 “a 1997 reconstruction”(1997年的重建),但 “its story reaches back much further”(它的故事要追溯到更早);中国国家大剧院部分提到 “Its design borrowed from traditional gardens”(其设计借鉴了传统园林)。两者都在今天的建筑中承接着过去的做法,B项 “Both draw on ideas from the past” 与此一致。
24.A 25.B 26.C 27.A
根据第一段 “Ten years ago I travelled with a folder full of printouts: flight numbers, hostel addresses, bus timetables. Every hour of that summer had an owner.”(十年前我带着一文件夹的打印件出行:航班号、旅馆地址、公交时刻表。 句中 “Every hour ... had an owner” 直接说明每天的时段都被事先安排好,与A项 “With every hour of the trip assigned” 对应。
根据第二段 “Had those days already belonged to a train, I would have looked at the country through a window.”(假如那几天早已属于某趟列车,我就只能隔着车窗看这个国家了。)
第三段先说 “I can see why most first-time travellers write everything down”,接着列举 “A hotel room is not something you want to hunt for at eleven at night”,以及 “When your leave is short, every hour feels expensive”(假期短,每一小时都显得昂贵),并承认 “a plan offers a kind of guarantee that the hours will be used”(计划提供一种保证)。
根据最后一段 “Before leaving, I write down the one thing I came for, and after that I let the days arrange themselves ... the nights are booked, the mornings are not.”(出发前,我写下此行的唯一目的,之后就让日子自己安排…… A项 “He fixes nights but leaves days open” 与 “write down the one thing I came for” 及 “the nights are booked” 直接对应。B项 “books nothing before arriving” 与 “the nights are booked” 相反;C项与 “let the days arrange themselves” 相反;D项无据,故选A。
28.D 29.A 30.B 31.C
根据第二段 “Interest grew sharply during the years when travel was restricted. Shut indoors, people pointed cameras upward and shared the results. Dark-sky parks recorded a jump in visits that has not fallen back since.”(在出行受到限制的那几年,人们的兴趣急剧上升。
根据第三段 “The costs are quieter but real: bedrooms stay lit for guests who like to read late, and one bright car park can undo the darkness a village has kept for centuries.”(代价不那么显眼却真实存在:为喜欢深夜阅读的客人亮着的卧室灯,一个明亮的停车场就能让村庄守护了几个世纪的黑暗____。)
根据第四段 “Flying long distances to see a dark sky adds to the emissions that dim it in the first place, critics point out.”(批评者指出,为看夜空而长途飞行,恰恰增加了最初让天空变暗的排放。)
根据最后一段 “Both sides agree on one point. Looking up is not a hobby so much as a reminder of scale... Few people return from a night under a clear sky describing how impressive they found themselves.”(双方在一点上是一致的。
32.D 33.C 34.B 35.A
根据第一段 “microbes can turn sugar water into a sheet of coloured fabric, skipping the two noisiest steps of ordinary textile production: spinning oil into thread and dyeing it afterwards”(微生物能把糖水变成一块彩色织物,跳过普通纺织生产中最费事的两步:把石油纺成丝线,以及事后再染色)可知,微生物的优势在于把制纤与上色两道独立工序合而为一,故选D。
第三段首句 “The partnership did not go smoothly at first”(这种合作起初并不顺利),随后解释 “When the two strains shared a tank, one simply outgrew the other”(两种菌株共用一个发酵罐时,其中一种直接把另一种压制下去),结果只能是 “either produced plenty of fibre with no colour, or colour with almost no fibre”。据此可推知二者难以共存于同一容器,即C项 “They could hardly share a single tank”。
根据最后一段 “What decides is whether a shopper will pay a little more for a jacket that was grown rather than made.”(真正决定的是,顾客是否愿意为一件“种”出来而非“做”出来的夹克多付一点钱。)
36.B 37.E 38.G 39.C 40.A
36.上文 “what they lack is a way to make that time count”(他们缺的是让这段时间真正有用的方法)说明主人已有时间,缺方法,B项 “A few habits, practised steadily, are enough to bring it out.”(几个习惯,坚持练习,足以把这份聪明激发出来。)
37.上文 “a session that ends while the animal is still eager leaves a better impression than one that drags on”(在狗仍有意犹未尽时结束,比拖长一场训练留下的印象更好),E项 “Stop while the dog is still trying, and it will come back for more.”(在狗还在努力时就停下,它还会主动再来。)与此呼应;下文 “Left too long, the same lesson turns into a chore for both of you.”(拖得太久,同一节课对双方都变成苦差事。)
38.上文列举 “A hand raised flat, a palm turning over, a finger pointed at a cushion”(平举的手掌、翻转的手心、指向坐垫的手指),G项 “Bodies carry meaning that a voice alone cannot deliver.”(身体传达的含义是单靠声音无法传递的。)概括其原理;下文 “Words said alone tend to be lost in a room full of noise.”(单靠说出的话,在嘈杂的房间里往往被淹没。)
40.上文 “Say “wait” every time the door is about to open, and the word stops being a sound and becomes a warning.”(每次门要打开时说 “wait”,这个词就不再只是声音,而成了警告。),A项 “Soon the sign alone will get the same response.”(很快只靠那个手势就能得到同样的反应。)补充说明词语与手势的配合;下文 “Before long, “wait” will do the whole job by itself.”(不久,“wait” 这个词本身就能独当一面。)
41.C 42.D 43.B 44.A 45.C 46.D 47.B 48.C 49.D 50.B
51.A 52.C 53.D 54.B 55.A

1.A 2.C
W: I just finished tonight’s homework.
M: Me too, although I still don’t understand why we’re doing it when computers exist!
W: Calligraphy helps us understand a character’s structure and meaning.
M: Perhaps, but surely we could learn the characters without physically copying them out.
W: Maybe not! It’s harder to remember a character if you only see it quickly while typing. Besides, as my dad says, it’s part of our history and culture. Can’t you see its value as an art form?
M: Yeah, but wouldn’t touch typing classes be more practical?
W: I see your point. But handwriting also teaches important life skills — patience, focus.
3.A 4.C
M: Jane, where will your class go for a field trip this year?
W: We’ll go to a farm.
M: What can you do there?
W: We can pick fruits and vegetables, feed farm animals and observe them, and learn about farming techniques.
M: Which activity do you look forward to most?
W: The second.
M: So, when will you set out?
W: Today is October 10th. We’ll go there the day after tomorrow.
5.A 6.B 7.C
W: Today we are speaking with Jake, a teenager navigating life in the age of AI. Jake, how do you manage yourself with all the distractions from technology?
M: It’s tough, but I try to set boundaries. I take breaks from screens. I read or draw for at least 30 minutes to relax.
W: You are self-disciplined. How do reading and art help you?
M: Reading lets me escape from the constant noise of tech. Fantasy books like Harry Potter help me focus and engage my mind. Drawing, especially nature sketches, helps me relax and clears my head.
W: Sounds useful. Do your friends do anything similar?
M: Yes, some of them do. Lisa’s journals keep her thoughts organized. Bob plays guitar when he feels overwhelmed. These hobbies help us to disconnect from tech and stay grounded.
W: It’s great to see that. What advice would you give to others struggling with technology?
M: Find a balance. Make time for art, reading or music. These activities help keep our minds healthy and prevent burnout.
W: Thanks for sharing, Jake.
M: Happy to.
8.B 9.C 10.B
M: Emma, have you decided which language you’re going to learn at college?
W: Yes, I’ve looked at all the options, and I’m going with Spanish.
M: Hmm, I think its grammar is easy.
W: Well, that’s not the reason I want to study it. Spanish is an important world language, and I’d like to work in South America one day.
M: I see. What about the other language? You’re going to do two, aren’t you? Have you thought about Russian? Your grandmother would be happy if you chose it.
W: I know she would. Her parents were born in St. Petersburg, weren’t they?
M: Yes, but they had come to England just before your grandmother was born.
W: Well, anyway, I don’t think I’m going to do Russian because it’s difficult to speak. I’d like to do Chinese. I’ll have a chance to spend six months studying the language in China.
M: Your mother and I will worry about your being thousands of kilometers from home.

A
Four Old Theatres That Still Hold Their Audiences
The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, Greece
Cut into a hillside in southern Greece, this theatre was completed around 340 BC as part of a healing sanctuary (圣地). It could seat roughly 14,000 people, and it is still used today for plays staged each summer. What draws visitors is not only the plays themselves but also the acoustics (音响效果): a coin dropped on the central stone can be heard in the furthest row, a fact that continues to puzzle modern engineers.
The Globe Theatre, Britain
The theatre we know today is a 1997 reconstruction, yet its story reaches back much further. The original Globe was raised in 1599 by a company of actors that counted William Shakespeare among its members, and it burned down in 1613 when a stage cannon set its thatch (茅草屋顶) alight. The rebuilt version keeps the open-air yard where groundlings (站票观众) once stood to watch the performance for a penny.
The Palau de la Música Catalana, Spain
This concert hall opened in 1908 and was recognised by UNESCO a century later. Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the architect behind it, filled the interior with mosaic (马赛克) columns and a reversed glass dome (穹顶) so that daylight could pour in from above. Visitors can walk through the building during the day, but they have to leave before rehearsals and performances begin.
The National Theatre, China
Completed in 2007 for the capital's performing arts festival, this theatre stands on Chang’an Avenue and holds three halls under a single shell. Its design borrowed from traditional gardens, where a corridor turns unexpectedly to reveal a new view. Evenings there can feel crowded, yet the halls themselves are quiet once the doors close.
21.Which of the four theatres has the longest history?
A.The Globe Theatre. B.The National Theatre.
C.The Theatre of Epidaurus. D.The Palau de la Música.
22.What can visitors do in the Spanish concert hall?
A.Watch a play for a penny. B.Attend rehearsals in the morning.
C.Hear a coin from the last row. D.Tour the hall before the show.
23.What do the Globe and the Chinese theatre share?
A.Both are used for summer plays. B.Both draw on ideas from the past.
C.Both were designed by famous actors. D.Both have a dome of coloured glass.
B
Ten years ago I travelled with a folder full of printouts: flight numbers, hostel addresses, bus timetables. Every hour of that summer had an owner. Somewhere in the middle of the trip I stopped opening it, and I have not carried one since.
Going without an itinerary (行程表) has its costs. I have spent a night on a station bench, and I have paid twice for a room I never reached. However, what it gives back is harder to price. If nothing is fixed, nothing has to be protected. When another traveller told me about a village where the market ran only on Mondays, I could stay until Monday. Had those days already belonged to a train, I would have looked at the country through a window.
Yet I can see why most first-time travellers write everything down. A hotel room is not something you want to hunt for at eleven at night, and a schedule does keep that worry at a distance. When your leave is short, every hour feels expensive, and a plan offers a kind of guarantee that the hours will be used.
Still, a trip is measured by what it leaves behind rather than by how much it holds. One afternoon on a step in Lisbon, watching a man repair a shoe for three hours, taught me more about the city than five museums did in two days. I could not have planned that afternoon, but I could have made it impossible.
So I do keep one small habit. Before leaving, I write down the one thing I came for, and after that I let the days arrange themselves. Being half-prepared turns out to be enough: the nights are booked, the mornings are not.
24.How did the author travel ten years ago?
A.With every hour of the trip assigned. B.With nothing booked in advance.
C.With a group of fellow travellers. D.With no more than a phone.
25.Why does the author mention the Monday market?
A.To prove that rural markets are worth a visit.
B.To show what a fixed plan would have taken away.
C.To advise travellers to follow local customs.
D.To explain why he stopped travelling by train.
26.What is the author’s attitude towards first-time travellers’ planning?
A.He regards it as a waste of time. B.He finds it easy to give up.
C.He understands their worries. D.He doubts whether it works.
27.What can we infer about the author’s present travel habits?
A.He fixes nights but leaves days open. B.He books nothing before arriving. C.He follows a full plan in advance. D.He travels to see old friends.
C
For most of human history the night sky was simply the sky. Now it is something people travel to find. Satellite readings show that the brightness of the sky above a given place has been climbing year on year, and in the most developed regions hardly anyone can see the Milky Way at all. The response has been a new kind of holiday: go where the lights are off.
Interest grew sharply during the years when travel was restricted Shut indoors, people pointed cameras upward and shared the results. Dark-sky parks recorded a jump in visits that has not fallen back since. Tourism boards noticed, and several regions that had little to offer visitors now advertise their emptiness instead of apologising for it.
Rural economies have welcomed the change. A park that once attracted a few hundred hikers a season may now sell out its cabins in the months when nights are longest. Taxi drivers, cooks and cleaners all gain. The costs are quieter but real: bedrooms stay lit for guests who like to read late, and one bright car park can undo the darkness a village has kept for centuries.
Not everyone is convinced that travel is the answer. Flying long distances to see a dark sky adds to the emissions that dim (使变暗) it in the first place, critics point out. Others argue that the more effective route is duller: simply switch off. Fixing a streetlamp so that it points down rather than sideways costs little and restores the view for everyone who already lives there.
Both sides agree on one point. Looking up is not a hobby so much as a reminder of scale (尺度), and reminders of scale are in short supply. Few people return from a night under a clear sky describing how impressive they found themselves.
28.What made dark-sky parks suddenly popular?
A.The falling price of telescopes. B.The growth of rural taxi services.
C.The rise in satellite readings. D.The travel limits of a few years ago.
29.What does the underlined word “undo” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?

Your next jacket may be brewed (酿造) rather than woven. A research group has shown that microbes (微生物) can turn sugar water into a sheet of coloured fabric (织物), skipping the two noisiest steps of ordinary textile (纺织品) production: spinning oil into thread and dyeing it afterwards.
The work started from a simple mismatch. Polyester is made from petroleum (石油), colours come from chemicals, and both processes are energy-hungry and hard on water. Microbes, by contrast, can build long-chain polymers from sugar and can also manufacture pigment (色素) as they grow. If the two abilities could be housed in one vat, the factory would shrink to a tank.
The partnership did not go smoothly at first. When the two strains (菌株) shared a tank, one simply outgrew the other: the culture either produced plenty of fibre with no colour, or colour with almost no fibre. The team's answer was to separate the two jobs in time, letting one strain establish itself before the second was introduced, and to adjust the acidity so that neither could gain the upper hand.
To test whether the result was usable, the sheets were boiled, rubbed against a standard white cloth, and soaked in sweat and detergent (洗涤剂). Most shades held, and the reds and blues lost less colour than commercial dyes in the rub test. Cost is the harder problem. The sheets are far too expensive to compete with petroleum fabric, and scaling up a tank is not the same as scaling up a vat.
"Technology rarely decides these things on its own," the lead researcher said. "What decides is whether a shopper will pay a little more for a jacket that was grown rather than made." Until then, the microbes will keep working in the lab, quietly producing colours no one has worn yet.
32.What advantage do the microbes offer over conventional textile production?
A.They grow faster than cotton plants. B.They make better use of pure sugar.
C.They need no water while growing. D.They combine two steps into one.
33.What can be inferred about the two strains from Paragraph 3?
A.They grew best at different temperatures. B.They produced exactly the same shade. C.They could hardly share a single tank. D.They were too weak to make any fibre.
34.What can be inferred about the future of the fabric from the last paragraph?
A.Its price will soon fall below that of petroleum cloth.
B.Its success depends largely on how shoppers value it.
C.Its production will move out of the lab within a year.
D.Its researchers have given up on solving the cost problem.
35.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.A Jacket Grown, Not Woven B.A Dye That Never Fades
C.Clothes Made from Microbes D.A Future Without Dyes
A dog that seems clever is usually a dog that has been taught, and the teaching does not take special equipment. Most owners already spend the needed time talking to their pets; what they lack is a way to make that time count. _____36_____
Keep sessions (训练时段) tiny.
Fifteen minutes once a week will not teach a dog much, but three minutes four times a day will. Attention in dogs runs out long before their willingness does, and a session that ends while the animal is still eager leaves a better impression than one that drags on (拖延). _____37_____ Left too long, the same lesson turns into a chore for both of you.
Give the command a sign.
Dogs read bodies much more easily than they read voices. A hand raised flat, a palm turning over, a finger pointed at a cushion (靠垫) — these are remembered with surprising accuracy. _____38_____ Words said alone tend to be lost in a room full of noise.
_____39_____
A dog connects a reward only with what happened in the last second or two. Feed a biscuit three minutes after the animal sits and you are rewarding whatever it happens to be doing then. Time the reward carefully, and a single lesson is often enough.
Put words to work.
Once a sign is reliable, give it a name and use that name consistently Say “wait” every time the door is about to open, and the word stops being a sound and becomes a warning. Vocabulary grows from repetition in the same situation. _____40_____ Before long, “wait” will do the whole job by itself.
A.Soon the sign alone will get the same response.
B.A few habits, practised steadily, are enough to bring it out.
C.Reward the dog on time.
D.Training a dog is mostly about repeating a single lesson.
E.Stop while the dog is still trying, and it will come back for more.
F.Start the training early.
G.Bodies carry meaning that a voice alone cannot deliver.
