One cold winter night in 2025, she was walking home after a long shift when she saw an old man lying on the sidewalk. The man was shaking and seemed confused. Without thinking twice, Wang Fang rushed to his side.
She found that the man was very weak and had a high fever. She called an ambulance (救护车) at once. While waiting, she took off her own coat to cover him and tried to keep him awake by talking to him softly. She learned that the man, Mr Li, lived alone and had gotten lost on his way to buy simple medicine. The ambulance arrived quickly and took Mr Li to the hospital where Wang Fang worked.
The next day, Wang Fang visited Mr Li in the ward (病房). She brought him some warm soup. Mr Li was grateful and held her hand, saying, “You are like a daughter to me.” Wang Fang smiled and checked on him every day during her shifts. She also helped call his relatives who lived in another city.
A few weeks later, Mr Li felt well and left the hospital. To express his thanks, he wrote a heartfelt letter to the hospital, praising Wang Fang’s professionalism and kindness. The hospital shared the story on its website, and many people saw it. They were moved by her selfless act.
Wang Fang didn’t think she did anything special. “As a nurse, helping people is my duty,” she said. However, her story inspired her workmates to help more people. Living in China has made me realize how convenient life can be. It has been even better than I imagined.
When I first arrived in China, I was pleasantly surprised. The public transport in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai is excellent. Subways can take you to most places of the city, helping you avoid traffic jams and get around faster. High-speed trains are another great example— they can take you from Beijing to Shanghai in under five hours.
Another great thing about China is how easy it is to get services. If my bike breaks and needs fixing, or if I need daily necessities, electronics, or even medicine, I just make a phone call or tap on my phone a few times. Since almost everything can be bought or ordered online, I don’t need to go far to a supermarket or a store. It is one of the main reasons I’ve stayed in China so long—it’s something I haven’t experienced in other countries.
What’s more, convenience in China isn’t just about speed—it’s also about being easy to use. The whole system is designed with the user in mind. For example, the apps I use for transport or food delivery (递送) are very simple, even for those who are not good with technology. Payment methods are also simple and easy. You don’t need to spend time learning how to use them. This makes it easy for everyone to get things done without trouble.
Life in China has become more relaxing and efficient. I believe that as technology continues to develop, life here will become even more convenient in the future.

While there are many methods that can help you remember things better, the most effective ones include making meaningful connections between pieces of information. This idea is called the Baker/ baker paradox (面包师悖论), and it was proved in an experiment.
In the experiment, researchers divided people into two groups and showed them a photo of a man’s face. The first group was told the man’s name was Baker, while the second group was told the man worked as a baker. Days later, the researchers asked both groups about the man’s identity (身份).
The result was surprising. People remembered the man’s job more easily than his name. Why did this happen? After all, the word “baker” was the same for both groups.
Here’s the reason: when you hear that someone works as a baker, your mind connects this fact to a network of meaningful ideas. You might picture someone baking bread, wearing a tall white hat, or smelling of freshly baked goods. These connections create a story in your brain, making the information easier to recall.
In fact, the name “Baker” doesn’t form the same kind of meaningful connections. It’s only linked to the man’s face, which is a weak connection. If you forget the face, you may also forget the name completely.
The Baker/ baker paradox shows that memory works best when new information is tied to meaningful stories or images. So, if you want to remember something better, try linking it to a story or something familiar. This simple trick can make all the difference.

Wang Fang is a nurse working in a busy city hospital. She is always kind and caring to her patients.
It also encouraged many young people to consider a career in nursing. Wang Fang continues to work hard, proving that ordinary people can do great things with a kind heart.

It’s believed that hard work was the same as being clever. At the start of Grade Nine, I spent a whole weekend copying every maths problem from the exercise book three times. My hand hurt, but I felt happy and hopeful. ____41____ I wondered why my “hard work” didn’t work and felt really confused.
A big change came in Wednesday’s English class. Instead of explaining the text directly, Ms Li showed us a short video about a sea park. ____42____ Then we worked in groups to discuss the animals’ problems and gave protection advice in English. We used dictionaries and drew pictures to express our ideas. To my surprise, I remembered all the difficult words easily when I reported our plan. This relaxing way of learning was great.
Suddenly I realized that I only copied knowledge in a boring way before. Real learning needs understanding and using knowledge. ____43____ I did simple small tests at home to understand physics rules. When learning Chinese texts, I tried to imagine the stories and the writers’ feelings. Learning became active and interesting instead of a tiring task.
Slowly, my notes were full of mind maps and my own questions instead of empty copies. ____44____ I learned to think and solve them step by step. My grades improved a lot in the final exams. More importantly, my mum said I looked much brighter when studying.
____45____ It’s not about the time you spend, but whether you activate your mind and connect with knowledge. True learning is building our own understanding when we think actively.
