When Chen Yu, a Grade 9 student in Xi’an, watched his classmate Wang Hao walk into a half-open door for the third time in a week, he decided to do something. Wang Hao had lost his sight at the age of six. He could remember every step of the school building, but chairs, doors and other obstacles in his way still brought him trouble, especially when the classroom had been moved for an activity.
Chen Yu was a member of the school robot club. He asked his teacher whether a small machine could “see” for Wang Hao. With the teacher’s help, the club started Project Eye. The first model was a box with a distance sensor (传感器) and a small speaker. When something appeared within one metre, it spoke: “Careful, door ahead.”
The idea sounded perfect, but the tests were not. In the noisy playground, the speaker was too quiet. On rainy days, the box sometimes stopped working. Worst of all, Wang Hao said the machine voice made him feel like a patient. Chen Yu did not give up. He changed the speaker for a bone-conduction earphone (骨传导耳机), added a rain cover and — most importantly — asked Wang Hao to design the voice himself. “I want a friend’s voice, not a machine’s,” Wang Hao said with a smile.
Three months later, the new helper was ready. It was the size of a matchbox and worked for ten hours on one charge. This spring, Project Eye won first prize at the city youth innovation competition. Instead of keeping the design, Chen Yu posted it online for free, so that any school with a 3D printer could make one. “A good invention is not finished until it reaches the people who need it,” he wrote under his project page. By the end of last month, fourteen schools in three provinces had printed their own Project Eye.
19. Why did Chen Yu start Project Eye?
A. To win the innovation competition. B. To help his classmate avoid trouble.
C. To join the school robot club. D. To test a new distance sensor.
20. What was the biggest problem with the first model?
A. The speaker was not loud enough. B. It was too big to carry.
C. It made Wang Hao feel uncomfortable. D. It could not work in the rain.
21. What does the underlined word “obstacles” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Things that block the way. B. Games played after class.
C. Objects that make sounds. D. Subjects that are difficult.
22. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Wang Hao designed the first model himself.
B. Chen Yu sold the design to other schools.
C. The club gave up after many failures.
D. Fourteen schools have benefited from Project Eye.
【答案】19. B 20. C 21. A 22. D

In April 2026, a humanoid (人形的) robot named Flash finished a half marathon in Beijing in 50 minutes and 26 seconds — faster than any human runner that day. Crowds cheered, and videos of the race spread quickly online. Many people believed that truly intelligent robots were just around the corner. But engineers tell a different story.
Robots today are wonderful at moving. Their legs are strong, their balance is excellent, and some of them can even dance. However, movement is only half of intelligence. The other half — the “brain” — is far behind. In one famous test, a robot was asked to put a pair of headphones into a high cupboard (橱柜). It tried again and again and failed every time, because the task required an idea that no engineer had programmed: push a box over, stand on it, and reach. A three-year-old child could think of this; a fast-running robot could not. Moving, it seems, is much easier than thinking.
Why is the brain so hard to build? Chatbots learn from the huge amount of text on the Internet, but robots need experience of the physical world — how a soft wire bends, how a heavy box slides. Such examples are rare and expensive to collect, and a robot may need thousands of them. Some companies now send workers with sensors to record everyday actions; others let robots practise in virtual worlds, though soft and changing objects remain difficult to simulate (模拟).
Progress is real, but it is slower than the race videos suggest. Experts remind us that running fast and thinking well are two different races. The first one, remarkably, has already been won. The second one has hardly begun — and it may take years, not months, before robots can truly understand the world around them.
23. Why did the robot fail to put the headphones into the cupboard?
A. It moved too slowly.
B. It had no idea how to reach the high place.
C. Its legs were not strong enough.
D. The cupboard door was locked.
24. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. Why building the robot’s “brain” is difficult.
B. How chatbots learn from the Internet.
C. What sensors the workers wear every day.
D. Why virtual worlds are better than real ones.
25. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A. Robot Races: Faster Than Ever Before
B. A Half Marathon in Beijing
C. Fast Legs, Slow Brains
D. Lessons from a Three-year-old
【答案】23. B 24. A 25. C

The Terracotta Army in Xi’an is known as the eighth wonder of the world. Since 1974, archaeologists (考古学家) have found thousands of life-size clay soldiers in the pits near the First Emperor's tomb. Each face is different, and each soldier was once painted in bright colours.
____26____ In Pit No. 1 alone, more than 1,000 figures have been put back together by hand, yet that is only one eighth of the soldiers found there. At this speed, experts say, repairing the rest could take a hundred years.
Today, digital technology is changing the situation. ____27____ A modern scanner finishes the same job in a few minutes. The computer then studies thousands of fragments and finds the ones that fit together. What used to take experienced workers months can now be checked in hours.
The technology also helps people see the army in a new way. ____28____, so visitors can look at every soldier’s face, even the tiny colours that time has taken away. In some exhibition halls, AR glasses let people watch the silent army “stand up” and march again. Many visitors say the digital show is more moving than the real one. ____29____
Of course, machines cannot replace the patient hands of restorers, and the digital world can never take the place of standing before the real army. ____30____
A. In the past, scanning a single warrior took over a thousand minutes.
B. So it is necessary to protect the old pits with glass covers.
C. However, bringing the broken soldiers back to life is slow, difficult work.
D. The whole site has been recorded in images of 50 billion pixels
E. Through screens and glasses, a two-thousand-year-old army comes alive again.
F. But when ancient culture meets modern technology, the past speaks to us more clearly than ever.
【答案】26. C 27. A 28. D 29. E 30. F

The Robot Half Marathon
On the morning of 19 April 2026, something unusual happened in Beijing. About 12,000 human runners and more than 100 robots lined up at the same starting point for a half marathon (about 21 kilometres). It was the first time that humanoid robots had run such a long race with human runners.
The winner was Flash, a humanoid robot made by a Chinese team. It finished the race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, faster than the fastest human runner that day. What surprised people most was that Flash ran the whole way by itself. It found the road, turned corners and avoided other runners without any remote control. In fact, about forty percent of the robot teams this year chose to run without remote control, which made the race much harder than last year’s.
Of course, robots still have a long way to go. During the race, some robots fell down, and a few stopped halfway because their batteries ran out. Engineers say that battery life and steady hands are still big problems. “Running fast is only the first step,” one engineer said. “The real test is whether a robot can think while it is moving.”
The race may look like fun, but it is a serious test of technology. Every kilometre on the open road teaches engineers lessons that no laboratory can provide.

C
D. Lessons from a Three-year-old
第二节:(共5小题,计5分)

Ⅵ. 任务型阅读(共5小题,计10分)
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。
