Many people say Li Bai’s father was a rich businessman in Suyab. Li Bai stayed there until he was about 5 years old. He later moved to Sichuan.

Every time I see that spacecraft-shaped (宇宙飞船形状的) kite hanging on the wall, I will think of Grandpa Sun, and his voice can still touch my heart after so long.
When I was a child, I often went to my great-grandmother’s house in the countryside. Her neighbour was a craftsman (手艺人) who was good at making kites, and I called him “Grandpa Sun”. I loved watching him make kites, and he always showed me his works with pleasure. All of the kites he made were lively — some looked like birds flapping (拍打) their wings against the wind, while others were like fish wagging (摇摆) their heads and tails in the air. Seeing the admiration in my eyes seemed to bring him the greatest satisfaction.
Once, I asked him, “Grandpa Sun, can you teach me how to make kites?” His eyes lit up at once, shining with the brightness that I had never seen before. He looked at me and said, “Fewer and fewer people are willing to make kites by hand because almost everything can be produced by machines! So, little boy, since you are going back to the city in a few days, let’s just enjoy flying a kite!”
The kite we made together flew in the blue sky for a while before falling to the ground as the wind slowly died down.
Just as I was about to leave, he gifted me a kite. “Take this, and don’t forget my kite. May you fly as high as this kite.” There were two handwritten Chinese characters Shen Zhou on the kite, and they made the kite look just like the famous spacecraft. I will never forget Grandpa Sun, nor his wonderful gift.
( ) 42. What happened to the writer in his childhood?
A. He wanted to be a craftsman. B. He made a lot of kites.
C. He lived with his grandmother. D. He often visited Grandpa Sun.
( ) 43. What can we infer according to the sentence “His eyes lit up…I had never seen before” in Paragraph 3?
A. Grandpa Sun had never been so happy before.
B. Nobody else learns to make kites by hand now.
C. The writer’s wish to learn kite-making made Grandpa Sun excited.
D. Grandpa Sun disagreed to teach the writer the skill of kite-making.
( ) 44. Why did Grandpa Sun give the writer a gift when he was about to leave?
A. To ask him to remember him. B. To wish him a bright future.
C. To thank him for his admiration. D. To encourage him to learn kite-making.
( ) 45. The best title for the passage is “________”
A. Grandpa Sun’s Words B. A Talented Craftsman
C. Pass on Traditional Art D. A Kite Carries Memories

Dear teachers and classmates,
Today I want to share a meaningful old photo with you. My grandfather and I are in the photo. It was taken in our garden two years ago.
At that time, Grandpa taught me to grow tomatoes. I was careless and thought it was easy. But soon the small plants almost died. I wanted to give up. Grandpa told me to be patient and to water them carefully every day. A few months later, we got fresh tomatoes and took this photo happily.
I felt proud and loved at that time. This photo stays in my memory. It tells me that nothing good comes easily. Whenever I see it, I can feel Grandpa’s deep love.
Thank you for your listening!

Ⅱ.听填信息
本题你将听到一段独白,读两遍。请根据独白内容,用所听到的信息完成下列各题。
Memory is very important for everyone. It helps us to keep information in our brain. But many students have problems in remembering new knowledge. Are there any ways to improve our memory? Experts say yes.
First, connect new things with what you already know. Your brain will be more active when you build links between ideas. Second, try to retell what you learn. Retelling helps information move into long-term memory. Many people forget things quickly because they only read once. Third, enough sleep is necessary. Tired brains are much poorer at remembering things. Fourth, you should understand that forgetting is normal. When we meet memory problems, don’t give up. Keep practising, and you will find some good ways to make your memory better.
