B
In the eighth grade, Career Exploration Week arrived with a lot of excitement as well as pressure (压力). My classmates talked confidently about becoming lawyers, scientists, or business owners. I listened quietly, feeling unsure. It wasn’t that I didn’t care about my future. I just didn’t understand myself well enough to choose a path.
At first, I tried to follow what others were doing. I signed up for a coding (编程) workshop because many of my friends said it was useful. In class, I completed the tasks and even got good results. But something didn’t feel right. While others were excited about solving hard problems, I felt tired and strangely uninterested. I told myself to keep going, thinking that maybe I just needed more time.
But the feeling didn’t change. One afternoon, as I stared at my screen, I realized something important. I wasn’t bored because the work was too hard. I was bored because it didn’t connect with me. For the first time, I didn’t ask myself, “What is popular?” Instead, I asked “What actually interests me?”
I began to pay more attention to my own feelings. I noticed that I enjoyed activities where I could talk and work with people, like group discussions or helping classmates with homework. I also found that I liked expressing ideas through speaking or writing. These small findings helped me understand myself better.
Later, I chose to attend a workshop on communication and leadership. This time, the experience felt completely different. I was nervous at first, but soon I became focused. I wanted to participate, share my thoughts, and improve. Even when I made mistakes, I didn’t feel discouraged.
That was when I understood that career exploration was not about trying everything carelessly or following others blindly. It required honesty with yourself, realizing and accepting what you truly enjoy and what you don’t, thus finding a path suitable for you.
I still haven’t decided which path to take, and that’s okay. What matters is that I now know myself better than before. I’ve learned to trust my own voice, even when it’s different from everyone else’s. And I believe that understanding myself is the first step toward finding a career that truly fits me.
20. The writer joined the coding workshop at first because ________.
A. he found coding easy for him B. he knew his interests clearly
C. he just tried to follow others D. he likes solving problems
21. What do we know about the writer from the story?
A. He may take coding as a job since he is good at it.
B. He will organize Career Exploration Week next year.
C. He will ask teachers for advice when choosing a job.
D. He may be outgoing and good at communicating.
22. What does this story tell us about career exploration?
A. We should understand and follow our own hearts.
B. It’s impossible to find a job without working hard.
C. It’s important to work as a team to solve problems.
D. We need to get some new experiences in daily life.
C
An old plastic bottle probably isn’t the first thing you think of when you’ re hungry. But that may change, as scientists in America have found a way to make cookies from old plastic!
Researchers at Southern Illinois University Carbondale have invented a way to turn plastic into protein (蛋白质), fats and flavorings (调味剂) using genetically modified yeast (转基因酵母). Lahiru Jayakody, who led the project, said that his team got the idea because both plastic and food have carbon (碳). So they wanted to test whether carbon from plastic could be used to make food.
The researchers used PET—one of the most common types of plastic, often used to make single use water bottles. They found a way to break this plastic down using water and oxygen at high temperatures and high pressure (压力), creating smaller molecules (分子) that have carbon. These molecules (分子) are then fed to genetically modified yeast, which turns the carbon into protein, fats and other nutrients (营养物质). The mixture (混合物) can then be used to make cookies.
This invention may help solve the problem of plastic waste. Every year, people throw away millions of plastic bottles, and much of this waste pollutes the land and the sea. If scientists can turn some of this waste into food, it would be a big step forward. It could also be useful in some special situations. For example, astronauts in space or people in a disaster area might not have enough fresh food. Food made from plastic waste could offer them another choice.
Of course, some people doubt whether it can succeed. But the scientists stick to their idea and truly believe that plastic waste is not nothing—it can become something excellent.
However, before that happens, there may be another challenge—getting people to believe that it is safe to eat food made this way. After all, a cookie made from an old plastic bottle could take some getting used to! Would you like to try one?
23. According to Paragraph 3, which of the following shows the right order of how the cookies are made?
①The yeast turns the carbon into protein and fats. ②Small molecules with carbon are made.
③PET plastic is broken down with water and oxygen. ④The mixture is used to make cookies.
A. ③→②→①→④ B. ②→③→④→① C. ③→①→②→④ D. ②→①→③→④
24. What can we infer (推测) about food made from plastic waste from Paragraph 4?
A. It can completely solve the environmental problem in the near future.
B. It may offer another food choice in some special cases.
C. It has already helped astronauts and people in disasters.
D. People believe it is safe to eat food made this way.
25. Which is the best title for this passage?
A. How Yeast Helps Us Make Cookies B. Scientists Who Love Cookies and Plastic
C. Why Plastic Bottles Are Bad for the Sea D. A New Way to Deal with Plastic Waste
D
An AI tool can explain a difficult idea or produce a whole piece of homework in seconds. For teenagers, both uses may feel helpful, especially on a busy evening. But finishing a task and learning from it are different things. Students should use AI in ways that leave the thinking in their own hands.
Think of learning as training for a race. A coach can show a runner how to improve, but cannot do the running for the runner. Watching someone else run quickly does not make your own legs stronger. In the same way, reading a clear answer from AI is not always enough to build the skills needed to reach an answer yourself.
Some people may argue that teenagers already face too much schoolwork. If AI saves time, why make them stressed? We need to think about this. Getting stuck for hours is not useful learning, and a well-timed explanation can help a student move forward. However, removing (去除) every difficult step also removes chances to practise.
A better way is to ask AI for a question or a small tip, then try the next step yourself. An active learner tests an idea and asks why an answer works. An uninquisitive learner, on the other hand, copies the result and moves on, even when the reasons remain unclear. Students can check their learning by closing the chat and explaining the solution in their own words.
The goal should therefore be wiser use, rather than simply more or less use. Before accepting AI’s help, teenagers should ask whether it will make the next problem easier because they understand more, or only because the machine will answer again.
26. Why does the writer discuss a runner and a coach in Paragraph 2?
A. To explain why watching someone else is the best way to build a skill.
B. To explain why getting help from AI does not mean you can solve the problem on your own.
C. To show that teachers should give answers as quickly as a coach runs.
D. To show that learning from AI takes more time than sports training.
27. The word “uninquisitive” in Paragraph 4 most probably means ________.
A. careful to accept a tip instead of a solution. B. ready to explain why the reasons are unclear.
C. willing to accept answers without questioning. D. able to check their learning with the help of AI.
28. What can you learn from the passage?
A. Students should refuse AI’s help to understand more.
B. Students who got answers from an AI tool did about as well as those without AI in the later test.
C. Because getting stuck wastes time, AI should remove difficult steps from learning.
D. Teenagers should make wise use of AI without giving up their ability to think.

“I kept telling myself to take it one point at a time and hang in there. I want to push myself to be better, not just beat others, but beat the old me,” said Zheng Qinwen after winning the China Open in October 2026.
Zheng Qinwen is one of China’s greatest tennis players. When she was young, she showed a special talent for tennis. Her big goal was to reach the top of world tennis. At age eight, she left her hometown in Hubei to train in Wuhan. Later, she moved to Barcelona, Spain. Living abroad was hard, as she had to bear loneliness and tiring training. Without fear, she improved and climbed to higher junior world positions.
As her skills grew, she began to win championships one after another. The most amazing win came at the Paris Olympics in 2024. She won the women’s singles gold and became the first Asian player to get this Olympic tennis gold medal. This was a huge achievement after years of hard work. One year later, she won the China Open and became the first Chinese player to win this home event. These two wins made her a pioneer in Chinese tennis.
However, she had a serious elbow problem. This was the hardest difficulty in her career. Her ranking dropped sharply to No. 160. Many people doubted whether she could reach her best level again. But Zheng refused to give up. She faced the pain, trained step by step and fought her way back. Her courage and fighting spirit drove her to succeed.
Zheng Qinwen’s journey tells us that true success means facing failures bravely. She keeps breaking her own limits. Her story shows that talent is not enough — we must stick to our dreams passionately.

【答案】26. B 27. C 28. D

【26题详解】
推理判断题。第二段表明“A coach can show a runner how...AI is not always enough...”,可知,作者用教练和跑步者的类比,说明帮助不能替代亲自实践,进而说明AI帮助也不意味着能独立解决问题。
【27题详解】
词句猜测题。第四段提到“An active learner tests an idea and asks why an answer works. An uninquisitive learner, on the other hand, copies the result and moves on...”,可知,该词与active learner相反,active learner会问为什么,uninquisitive learner直接复制结果,意为不愿提问、不加质疑地接受答案。
【28题详解】
主旨大意题。第一段指出“Students should use AI in ways that leave the thinking in their own hands.”,第五段“The goal should therefore be wiser use...”,可知,全文围绕如何明智使用AI展开,强调保留思考能力,故主旨为青少年应明智使用AI而不放弃思考能力。
