It’s amazing how we grow from careless kids to responsible teens. What happens in the course that makes us responsible now? It’s the seed that we sow in the beginning which grows and becomes a huge tree.
As a kid, I used to read a lot of story books. In one particular book, I read a story of a bird. It described a male bird which takes a lot of pain to build a nest and the female bird takes shelter in it and nourishes the baby. When the bird learns to fly, the whole family flies off to a different place leaving behind the beautiful nest for other birds to grow their family in it. It made me wonder. How could they so easily sacrifice their house built with so much effort?
One night, when I was deep in sleep, I got this particular dream. I was walking miles on the endless road, totally isolated but lined with beautiful trees on either side, I happened to stop upon seeing something. It was a wonderful house with every corner touched artistically and lovingly. I don’t know why I felt that it was done lovingly. Maybe because, things turn out to be beautiful only when we put our love into it — just like the food prepared by mom which tastes more delicious with her love.
I explored the house only to fall more in love with it. There was a sloping roof which matched with the greenery around; the large central open courtyard reminded me of the activities that might have taken place there which felt lively even now when it is completely deserted. The small water body that kept the house cool added to the beauty of the house — of course, it was all dried up now. It’s really wonderful how such things add life to the spaces which otherwise just become structures. Such liveliness and happening turns the house into a home.
When I woke up from the dream, I was clear about everything. I realized where that mile of walk was intending me to lead. I realized what message my dream wanted to convey me. And years later, when finally my turn of choosing my destination came, I simply closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes, I was sure what to do. I decided to choose the road less traveled. Yes, I took up architecture as my profession because this is what I am destined to do. I wanted to do the same thing that the male bird in the story did, to take pain in building a beautiful house and let others stay in it.

A. mom cooks with her love B. we are so familiar with mom’s food

A. The greenery surrounding the house.
B. The body of water that keeps the house cool.

45. The above passage is mainly about ________.
A. how the writer finally becomes an honest citizen

It’s weird. Time feels faster the older we get. I can think back to an event three years ago, and it feels like yesterday. I still wear the same clothes. My haircut is the same. I live in the same place and eat the same food. Nothing much distinguishes that event from my present. Yet, for a child or teenager, three years can feel like a lifetime. Why does this happen?
Children and teenagers experience significantly more change, more frequently, than adults. They grow taller, wear new clothes, switch schools, have different friends, and learn new things in class. It is a world of transition and change. As adults, many of these factors level out and don’t change at all.
During adolescence, which researchers identify as between 10 and 25 years of age, the brain undergoes significant change. Laurence Steinberg, a heavy hitter in the adolescent research world, calls it a brain of “opportunity” because it is wide open to learning. Imagine thousands of neurons(神经元)all bumping up against each other, equally likely to activate each other. Adolescents are highly sensitive to their environment because their brains are open to anything and everything happening to them. They use this openness to learn how the world works and how to function in it.
When sex hormones come online, they enhance this learning through myelination(髓鞘形成), or the act of adding a fatty sheath(鞘)on top of the highly active neurons to help them fire 100 times faster than non-myelinated neurons. The brain takes what it learns and hardwires(连接)it. Stressful life events have a greater impact when they occur in adolescence versus middle childhood because the brain wires to teenage experiences.
This is why we have a different experience of time. When we are teenagers, we are so open and receptive to the world. Our interactions with teachers, friends, material in class, parents, society, and more shape how we understand the world and how we operate in it. We experience big emotions, teaching us about relationships, responsibility, and everything else. It feels like so much happens every day because our brains are taking in so many things. As we get older, our brains aren’t wired to take in as many things from the outside world, or to learn in the same way. Therefore, three years ago can feel like yesterday: not much has changed in our brains, our perception, or our lived experience.
46. What message does the author intend to convey in the first paragraph?
A. His preference to a certain food. B. His fixed living style.
C. His feeling about time passing. D. His change in appearance.
47. Why do children and teenagers perceive time differently than adults?
A. Their brains are less active. B. They experience more change.
C. They have fewer responsibilities. D. Their brains are fully developed.
48. Why do stressful events impact adolescents more?
A. Their brains are less developed. B. Their brains hardwire experiences.
C. They lack emotional strength. D. They experience fewer changes.
49. What can we infer about teenagers from the passage?
A. They have less stress than adults.
B. They are more likely to adapt to change.
C. Their brains are less active than those of adults.
D. They focus more on the present than the future.
50. What could be the best title for the passage?
A. Why Time Feels Faster as We Age.
B. How Teen Brains Shape Time Perception.
C. The Impact of Hormones on Time Experience.
D. The Role of Change in Perception.
D
When planning my wedding, I was determined not to get caught up in the “perfect day”, but to have a relaxing, informal celebration. My husband and I ended up having a lovely time.
“Pursuit of perfection is a prison,” says Moya Sarner, an NHS psychotherapist. Many of us are driven by the unconscious wish that if we could just have the perfect body, the perfect job and the perfect family, then we would be happy. For that reason, it can be one of the most significant barriers to happiness in life.
The psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott wrote about the importance of the “good enough mother” who meets her baby’s needs timely, but is not perfect. He said perfect is harmful. To meet every desire immediately, to pass the toy straight away whenever it is demanded slows down a baby’s growth, robbing them of the opportunity to feel frustrated and learn to crawl to get the toy for themselves.
Winnicott believed that while perfection is not a virtue, tolerance of imperfection is. If we cannot develop the capacity to tolerate imperfection in ourselves and in those around us, we can have no self-confidence, no sustainable relationships and no fulfilling career. If we’re always trying to build something called a perfect life, we aren’t really living the one we’re in.
How do I know all this? I am a perfectionist in recovery. I’ve started to recognize my intolerance of imperfection — my need for certain things to be exactly as I would like them to be, from the way my husband chops his onions to my terror of being late — and it has made a huge difference to my relationship and my parenting. How can you be a good partner if you expect everyone else to fit your own narrow expectations? How can your child grow if they sense that they always need to color precisely inside the lines you’ve drawn out for them?
We need to go further than tolerating imperfections. We need to learn to appreciate their humanity and beauty. Imperfections are why people will pay a calligrapher to handwrite invitations when a computer can produce a flawless version of the same script for less money and in less time. So for a more delicious life, and ultimately a better one, I choose imperfectionism.
51. What prevents us from obtaining happiness according to Moya Sarner?
A. The lack of a perfect life. B. The pursuit of perfection.
C. The unconscious wish for jobs. D. The fear of being imperfect.
52. What can we learn from the example of the “good enough mother”?
A. Raising a child brings a mother much joy.
B. Pursuing perfection is the duty of mothers.
C. Responding instantly impacts babies’ growth.
D. Meeting babies’ demands is very challenging.
53. How does the author develop her central argument?
A. By citing experts’ opinions and reflecting on personal experience.
B. By listing several problems and providing solutions one by one.
C. By comparing two opposite views and proving one is wrong.
D. By defining key terms and then giving detailed case analysis.
54. What can we infer from the example of the calligrapher in Paragraph 6?
A. Handwritten invitations are more expensive but less beautiful.
B. Imperfections make things more human and valuable in people’s eyes.
C. People are willing to pay more for perfection even if it is inefficient.
D. Calligraphers are better at creating flawless scripts than computers.
55. Which of the following might the author approve of?
A. A miss is as good as a mile. B. One false move loses all.
C. Every cloud has a silver lining. D. Close enough is good enough.
五、阅读表达(共5小题:每小题2分,满分10分)
When stepping into a Finnish middle school’s home economics classroom, I expected to see students cooking. Instead, I saw ninth graders working together to prepare a full Indian meal in under an hour. After cooking, they set the table neatly, cleaned up, and ate with pride. This was not just a cooking class, but a wonderful example of labor education.
In Finland, home economics, known locally as kolitalous, is a mandatory subject for all seventh graders. Students have three hours of classes each week: two hours of practice and one hour of theory. The curriculum covers budgeting, meal planning, nutrition, food safety, cleaning, laundry and basic home repairs. In eighth and ninth grade, students learn more advanced skills, such as making international food and managing household tasks.
Finland has included practical life skills in its national curriculum for over a century. The Finnish model works well because it balances skills, responsibility and joy. Students learn to plan, cooperate, solve problems and feel proud of their work. They understand that labor is meaningful, not just a chore.
A Finnish teacher said, “We don’t teach cooking to train chefs. We teach it to raise independent adults.” The subject helps young people care for themselves and contribute to the community. Both boys and girls take the same classes, so gender stereotypes about housework are broken.
Some people think practical classes take time away from academic learning. However, Finland regards home economics as helpful for core subjects. Skills like focus, teamwork and problem-solving can improve students’ school performance. Research shows that students with hands-on learning do better in tests and feel happier.
The Finnish course also teaches sustainability. Students learn to reduce food waste and use local ingredients. They often cook for elderly neighbors or prepare food for school activities, developing a strong sense of social responsibility.
Labor education in Finland is not a new reform or a political topic. It is simply part of education. Students leave school not only with knowledge but also with practical competence. Finland’s cooking class tells us that labor education is not a distraction from learning — it is learning itself.

Yes, I took up architecture as my profession because this is what I am destined to do.(多年后,当终于轮到我选择人生方向时,我只是闭上了眼睛。
C

【46题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段“It’s weird. Time feels faster the older we get. I can think back to an event three years ago, and it feels like yesterday. I still wear the same clothes. My haircut is the same. I live in the same place and eat the same food. Nothing much distinguishes that event from my present..(这很奇怪。我们越老,时间感觉越快。我可以回想起三年前的一件事,感觉就像昨天一样。我仍然穿着同样的衣服。我的发型还是老样子。我住在同一个地方,吃同样的食物。那件事和我现在的情况没有多大区别)”可知,作者在表达对时间流逝的感受。故选C。
【47题详解】

【答案】51. B 52. C 53. A 54. B 55. D

Respected school leaders and teachers,
I am Li Jin, writing to propose a mental health initiative titled “Caring for Oneself, Protecting the Soul”. Currently, many students struggle to cope with heavy pressure and possess limited methods for emotional regulation.
Therefore, I strongly suggest we take practical steps. First, students should learn daily relaxation techniques to ease anxiety, such as deep breathing and mindfulness. Second, it is vital to encourage students to vent negative emotions through sports or confiding in trusted friends.
Let’s work together to create a supportive atmosphere where mental well-being is prioritized, and all students learn to genuinely care for themselves. Thank you for your consideration.
