It is wise of sb. to do sth.表示“某人做某事是明智的”,用于描述人的品质特征。for用于It is+形容词+for sb. to do sth.

A growing body of evidence shows that play is not just a pleasant pastime—it is a natural biological process that helps young brains practice curiosity, deal with the unknown, and develop clear thinking skills.
Consider one famous example. When James Watson and Francis Crick discovered the structure of DNA, they did not work only through serious experiments. Instead, they built wire (软铁丝) and cardboard models, tinkering with them like children. Their playful trying and mistaking led to one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs (突破) of the twentieth century.
Play is not only found in humans. Even young rats spend much of their time playing. ▲ Babies get close to parents through play. Older children play with friends, using their imagination and testing their physical abilities. Scientists believe this is how humans develop curiosity-driven thinking — we invent problems and then solve them creatively.
Researchers at the University of Cambridge studied 39 reports on “guided play” — children play with adults guiding them toward a goal. They found that guided play was just as effective as traditional classroom teaching (TCT) in improving reading, math, social skills, and thinking ability. Another study of 102 reports found that playing with objects especially develops kids’ space sense.
The link between play and creativity is deep. When children experiment, create, and test ideas, they are doing exactly what scientists do in their labs. As one professor noted: what looks like child’s play may, in the end, change the world.
26. Why does the writer mention Watson and Crick in the passage?
A. To prove that all scientists were naughty children
B. To compare rats and human scientists
C. To explain the chemical structure of DNA
D. To give an example of how play leads to discoveries
27. The word “tinkering” in Paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to ________.
A. fixing broken robots in a workshop B. trying out different things for fun
C. drawing pictures of scientific models D. selling handmade-objects to earn money
28. Which of the following sentences can be filled in the ▲?
A. Play helps children grow taller and stronger.
B. However, rats play more actively than human babies.
C. But human play is special: it changes as children grow.
D. Human play is exactly the same at every age.
29. Which of the following graphs best shows the Cambridge study?
(X: months of learning; Y: average skill score. Solid line= Guided Play; dashed line = TCT)
A. B.
C. D.
30. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. Play is a time that helps children relax. B. Play is a process that helps develop creativity.
C. Play is a method to replace experiments. D. Play is the only way to develop thinking.
【答案】26. D 27. B 28. C 29. B 30. B

So why can we still ride a bicycle even after we have ____54____ riding it for years?
It turns out that there are two types of long-term memories, and they are stored in different parts of our brains. Memories of ____55____ and life events, like names, dates and trip experiences, are called declarative (陈述性的) memories. These memories are easy to lose. Memories of skills, such as riding a bicycle or ____56____ an instrument, are called procedural (程序性的) memories. These skills are hard to pick up at first, but once fully learned, they are almost never forgotten.
Scientists have found the reasons ____57____ this difference appears. The brain area that stores procedural memories has more stable neural connections, and its cells (细胞) do not ____58____ get harmed or lost. This finding explains why we hardly forget how to ride a bicycle.
Now, “just like riding a bicycle” has become ____59____ everyday idiom. ____60____ is used to talk about a skill that, once acquired, is never forgotten.
【答案】51. whenever
52. In 53. hard
54. stopped

固定结构find it + adj. + to do sth.,it作形式宾语,形容词作宾语补足语,空格处需要填形容词,用来描述这件事(记住名字、日期)的特点; 根据“In many other cases, our memories let us down.”
根据“The brain area that stores procedural memories has more stable neural connections”可知,这个区域神经连接更稳定,细胞不会轻易受损或消失,方框中easy意为“容易的”,符合语境;修饰动词短语get harmed or lost,要用副词形式,easy的副词形式为easily。
【59题详解】
句意:现在,“就像骑自行车一样”已经成为一个日常习语。空格后是可数名词单数idiom,此处表示“一个”,要用不定冠词;everyday以元音音素开头,不定冠词需用an。
【60题详解】
句意:它被用来谈论一种一旦获得就永远不会忘记的技能。此处指代上文提到的idiom,作句子主语,方框中it意为“它”符合语境,本空位于句首,首字母需大写,填It。

Learning is never easy, but we all solve problems by finding ways that suit ourselves.

Memory is of great importance in English learning. However, it always took me a long time to memorize texts. One day, I came across the “Lion Method” in a book written by a Japanese brain scientist. It suggests that our brain remembers information better when we feel a little hungry, walk around, or feel a little cold. Later I began to recite texts before dinner, walking around the room with the window open. It helped me stay focused and memorize better.

At first, I found it hard to understand what the teacher said, and my pronunciation was far from good. My teacher told me to listen to English as much as possible. Then I started to make use of every free minute to practice listening. I listened while brushing my teeth or waiting for the bus. After a few months, I could understand much more and even spoke in front of the whole class. Now I feel much more confident than before.

I used to think learning English was boring. My brother advised me to connect English learning with my hobbies, so I started to read English news about football. I can guess the meaning of new phrases from the other words in the sentence. For example, I learned “made up ground” from a match report: Denmark (丹麦) scored two goals early. Then Spain (西班牙) made up ground and won. Since then, my vocabulary has increased, and learning English has become great fun for me.

64. It means “caught up”. / Caught up.
65. By finding ways that suit themselves./They solve their problems by finding ways that suit themselves.
66. 参考范文
基础版:
After reading the post, I want to share how I deal with my learning problems. I had trouble with PE. I could not run fast. And I could not play football well.
I made two plans. First, I asked my friends and teachers for help. Second, I run and play football every day. Finally, I can have a good time in PE class. I could run faster and play football better.
I feel happy to enjoy PE. I will try my best to be a good learner.
提高版:
After reading the post, I want to share how I deal with my learning problems. I used to have much trouble with Math. I could not understand difficult problems and often got wrong answers in exams.
To change this, I made two plans. First, I kept a notebook and wrote down my mistakes every time. Second, I asked my teacher or classmates for help patiently when I was confused. Slowly, I understood more rules and my marks improved a lot.
This experience teaches me that good learners try to find the truth behind problems. As the old saying goes, good learners explore the rules and good doers work through hard difficulties. Never give up when you meet troubles.
拓展版:
After reading the post, I want to share how I deal with my learning problems. My biggest difficulty lay in History. It was hard for me to connect historical events with their backgrounds. I only remembered dates but failed to figure out why things happened.
To make progress, I took two steps. First, I read short historical stories after class to build more background knowledge. Second, I used mind maps to compare events from different periods to find their connections. Little by little, I could sort out the facts clearly and got a sense of achievement in tests.
I realize learning is not simple memorizing. We should dig deep to understand the reasons. As an old saying goes, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” Perseverance will lead us out of trouble.

Then Spain (西班牙) made up ground and won. Since then, my vocabulary has increased, and learning English has become great fun for me.
