With the development of society, our lifestyles and travel habits have changed greatly as well.
From community-centered living to global connectivity, advancements in technology and
transportation have redefined how we interact and move.
When I tried camper van (life for the first time,I went all in.For three wceks,my
husband and I drove a smart camper van from northern New Jersey to Los Angeles as we wound
our way along the length of Route 66.My hope was that by renting a good camper van,we would
save money on purchased meals and hotel rooms and also feel deeply connected to each place we
visited.
On our first night in the Walmart parking lot in Bloomington,Illinois,I lay in the van,
wondering if we could handle this adventure. But after the first successful sleepover, everything
seemed fine.We would wake up each morning for a quick bathroom run and even shower at some
of the surprisingly luxurious vehicle parks we visited. Then we would cook breakfast on our camp
stove at the back of the van and hit the road by 8:30 or 9:00 am.
After a day covering roughly 130 miles and experiencing the historic sites, local museums,
and fantastic roadside attractions along Route 66,we made sure we could arrive at our nightly
destination by 4:30 pm.By the time we dropped off the van near Los Angeles International
Airport in late November, like I was saying goodbye to a new dear friend on the last day of
summer camp.
Even a few days of traveling in a camper van can give you a whole new perspective on
yourself and the world around you.I loved the challenge of condensing our lives into
approximately 75 square feet and finding creative ways to live comfortably but efficiently. The
morning coffee? It's right there.Your clothes for the day?Just reach behind you.Additionally,
camper van life gets you out there, interacting with others and connecting with the world.

Clothing has allowed us to explore the far reaches of our world, keeping us relatively
comfortable and safe. But even the most technical garments--self-heating vests or built-in ice
packs-can only perform to a certain extent. Most can either warm or cool the body-but not
both-or may require a bulky battery pack.
Scientists from Nankai University took a step towards smart clothing that rapidly adjusts
body temperature using only solar power. The team fashioned a flexible material that captures
sunlight to store and transfer heat.During the hot day,the material removes excess heat from the
skin and stores excess energy. At night, when it's cooler,it gives out energy to heat the skin to
comfortable levels. The material can also rapidly adjust to surrounding temperatures by
automatically switching between cooling and heating modes.
In a test, the researchers placed the material on a volunteer's hand and varied the surrounding
temperature. They monitored the volunteer's skin temperature with an infrared(红外线的)
camera. The material attained comfortable temperatures within seconds of surrounding
temperature changes.
Rather than designing clothing made entirely from the material, the team envisions it can be
strategically woven into everyday fashion or spacesuits-with larger pieces in the main part of
the body, and smaller ones tailored to the shoulders, upper arms, and the fronts of the thighs.Even
without covering the entire body, the pieces'excellent performance in storing and transferring
heat can keep wearers comfortable all day-as long as there are a few hours of sunshine.
To Dr.Huang Xingyi at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the material has far more uses
beyond clothing. It could extend textiles or buildings to keep temperatures in check without using
conditioning. While wearable temperature control takes more lives, humans, clothes, and turbaned
combined, these materials aren't just for brave explorers-they may revolutionize the way we
experience and adapt to our environment.
28.How does the author introduce the topic of this text?
A.By describing the history of clothing design.
B.By explaining the appeal of modern clothing.
C.By presenting current limitations of clothing.
D.By listing popular clothing brands and features.
29.What do we know about the material in paragraph 2?
A.It draws energy from water.
B.It relies on complex chemical reactions
C.It improves performance at night.D.It helps adjust body temperature dynamically
30.What is the main advantage of the material shown in paragraph 3?
A.Its physical flexibility.
B.Its rapid response.
C.Its lightweight design.
D.Its stable under water.

Picture this:You're at a fancy restaurant, and the waiter asks how your mcal is.Even if the
steak is as tough as old boots, chances are you would smile and say it is delicious. That's courtcsy
bias in action. In psychology,it's the tendency for people to give answers or express opinions that
they belicve should be viewed favorably by others.
The origin of courtesy bias can be traced back to our evolutionary necd to maintain social
harmony. After all,our ancestors probably wouldn't have survived long if they had gone around
offending everyone in sight. However, courtesy bias isn't just about being polite. It's a complex
interaction of cognitive processes, cultural norms, and social expectations. It can look
very different depending on where you are in the world. In some cultures, direct disagreement is
seen as rude, whilc in others,it's perfectly acceptable to speak your mind.
We're social creatures and the thought of causing offense can be terrifying. We have the
ingrained desire to present oursclves in the best possible light to be liked and accepted by others.
When we're faced with a situation where cxpressing our truc thoughts might lead to conflict or
discomfort, our brains often choose the path of least resistance:agrecing and being polite.
Courtesy bias doesn't just affect our day-to-day interactions-it can have a significant
impact on psychological research.Imagine you're participating in a study, and the rescarcher asks
you some pretty personal questions.Even if you're assured that your name will not be revealed,
you'll still feel the urge to give the "right"answers. This tendency can scriously interfere with
survey responses and data collection.Participants might downplay negative experiences,
exaggerate positive ones,or simply give the answers they think the researchers want to hear.
The potential for distorted research results due to courtesy bias is a real concern in
the psychological community. After all,if we can't trust the data we're collecting, how can we
draw accurate conclusions?Courtesy bias should be dealt with scriously.

When summer's burning hot days come,we can avoid heat by staying inside and having cool
drinks, while our plants have no such choice.36 Here are four tips on how to take care of
your garden during these record-breaking heat waves.
37 Instead of watering during the hottest parts of the day when water is likely to
evaporate ()change your schedule to water in the evening or during the early morning. If
you live in a dry area, you can set up sustainable watering systems, like a rainwater harvester and
drip irrigation.
Create shade. When it is really hot, plants need extra shade to reduce stress. You can increase
shade by planting your garden in an area near trees and bushes.Of course, that won't help a
vegetable garden planted in rows away from trees.38 If you have potted plants, moving
them under a shade net is also a good option.
Use appropriate plants.Another way to keep your garden safe from the sun takes some
pre-planning.Generally speaking, native plants are much more likely to survive drought and
extreme temperatures.39 Using ground cover plants also requires far less water than a
grass lawn. But if you do have a lawn, leave the grass clippings after you cut the grass.
Grow some wildflowers.Dropping wildflower seeds on any unused part of your garden will
help bees, butterflies, and insects survive the heat.Plants like buttercups and daisies are a good
source of food for them.40 After all, sharing your garden with nature is the most right
thing to do.
A.Change your watering schedule.
B.Some plants grow well with little shade.
C.Meanwhile, set up a bird bath for birds to cool off in.
D.Water plants only once a week to avoid overwatering.
E.So,choosing native plants will make things much easier for you.
F.But you can still help your plants survive the heat by providing shelter.
G.That's why you have to help keep your garden cool when the temperatures rise.

Liu Jia,a 17-year-old high school student, had always been fascinated by her grandmother's
paper-cutting skills. The delicate patterns of flowers, birds and mythical creatures that her
grandmother created with a pair of scissors and a sheet of red paper seemed like magic. However,
as her grandmother grew older, her hands began to shake, and she could no longer hold the
scissors steadily. The ancient craft, passed down for three generations in her family, was at risk of
being lost.
Determined to preserve this intangible cultural heritage,Liu Jia decided to learn
paper-cutting from her grandmother. At first,it was much harder than she expected. Her scissors
slipped constantly, and the patterns she cut were clumsy and uneven. Her grandmother encouraged
her patiently:"Paper-cutting is not just about skill-it's about patience and love for our culture."
As Liu Jia practiced day after day,her skills improved. She started sharing her works on
social media, hoping to attract more young people's attention to this traditional art.To her surprise,
her videos went viral, and she received hundreds of messages from teenagers who wanted to learn
paper-cutting.Some even asked if she could hold offline workshops.
Just as Liu Jia was planning to organize her first workshop, she faced a problem. Her school
announced a crucial art competition with a theme of "Youth and Traditional Culture."The
deadline was only two weeks away, and she had to prepare a masterpiece for the competition.
Meanwhile, the number of people signing up for the workshop kept growing, and she didn't want
to disappoint them.
Liu Jia was caught in a dilemma. She spent her days practicing for the competition and her
nights replying to messages from interested participants.Soon, she felt exhausted and
overwhelmed. One evening, when she was about to quit one of the two tasks, her grandmother
brought her a cup of tea and sat down beside her.

My views on Silent Study
Recently, our school has carried out the rule of silent study, requiring total
silence during self-study classes.Students hold mixed opinions about the new policy.
Some students welcome it,believing silence can improve their efficiency.Others
are opposed, for they think discussing problems in class helps them figure out
puzzles.
From my point of view, silent study is a good choice. It creates a quiet
atmosphere for independent thinking. If necessary,we can discuss questions during
break time.
第二节(满分25分)
One possible version:
Grandmother gently stroked Liu Jia's hair and shared her own story of learning
paper-cutting.She recalled how she had to help with farm work and practice cutting
after midnight when she was Liu Jia's age.Smiling, she advised her granddaughter not
to choose between two things she loved, but to find a way to connect them. She added
that paper-cutting is about sharing joy,not just winning competitions.Liu Jia listened
carefully, realizing that her anxiety came from trying to do everything alone.
Inspired by her grandmother's words,Liu Jia came up with a creative solution.
She invited three enthusiastic participants to help prepare for the workshop, teaching
them basic skills first.Meanwhile, she decided to take the workshop as part of her
competition entry-recording the process and presenting the collective works. On the
competition day,her unique entry stood out,and she won the first prize. The
workshop also turned out a great success, with more young people falling in love with
paper-cutting.Liu Jia finally understood:preserving culture is not a lonely journey,
but a shared adventure
