On September 15th, 2026, Yangliuqing Ancient Town in Tianjin held a special poetry (诗歌) party. It was part of the 19th “Chinese Bridge” Competition for foreign secondary school students. 120 students from 101 countries joined in. The theme (主题) was “Under One Moon, Cultures Come Together.”

In the old town, people hung up red lanterns for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Stores along the old streets showed traditional art forms in Tianjin. Students tried traditional games like touhu. They also watched live shows of Peking Opera, classical dance and kuaiban. They thought it was valuable for them to experience Chinese culture in person.

The most important part of the day was to visit a paper-cutting workshop. Its owner is Hao Guifen, a famous paper-cutting artist in Tianjin. She has a sore back, so long hours of work can be painful.
