Possible Version 1
I’d like to spend about ¥200 on learning essentials. For example, I may buy some books that will improve my study. Then, I’ll donate a small portion to people in need, possibly through online charity platforms. At last, I will put the remaining money into a bank account.
Possible Version 2
I will make a budget first, which will enable me to save half of it for future goals. For the remaining half, I’ll spend some on things I need, such as school supplies, and some on things I want, like my favorite snacks. I’ll also set aside some money for entertainment and donate some to charity to help people in need.
第二节
Possible Version 1
Dear Jim,
I’m glad to help with your “Conservation Week” plan. Here are some ideas that I think will be helpful.
First, I suggest organising a campus clean-up activity. Students can work in groups to collect litter and sort recyclable waste. Second, you could hold a speech contest or a poster exhibition to raise students’ awareness of environmental protection. Finally, it would be a good idea to encourage everyone to bring reusable water bottles instead of using disposable products throughout the week.
I believe these activities are worth trying for several reasons. They not only help create a cleaner campus but also teach students the importance of teamwork and environmental responsibility. More importantly, by taking action in their daily lives, students can develop eco-friendly habits and make a positive difference to the environment.
I hope you find these suggestions useful. I’m looking forward to hearing about your school’s activities!
Yours,
Li Hua
Possible Version 2
Dear Jim,
I’m glad to help with your “Conservation Week” plan. Here’s my idea: organise a “Five-Day Green Challenge”, in which each day focuses on one simple action—No Plastic Day, Power-Saving Day, Recycling Day, Low-Carbon Travel Day, and Community Clean-up Day. Each class can record its progress and hold a photo exhibition at the end.
I recommend this plan for three reasons. First, it is easy and practical. Students don’t need special equipment or much extra time, so almost everyone can take part. Second, it helps turn environmental ideas into daily habits. Reusing bottles, saving electricity, sorting waste and walking to school make conservation part of real life, not just a slogan. Third, it brings the school and the community closer. By inviting local people to join the activities and sharing their achievements, students can encourage more people to care about the environment and work together for a greener community.
I hope you find these suggestions useful. Let me know what you think!
Yours,
Li Hua

As a child, I really loved to read and spent every spare moment with a book. But in recent years, I’ve found my 1 pulled into endless scrolling (滚屏) on my phone—through short videos and social media. As a writer, I’ve found that this not only 2 my work, but also saddens me.
So, a year ago, I made a(n) 3 : every time I came across an unfamiliar word—whether in a novel, an article, or an overheard conversation—I would look it up and write it down in a vocabulary notebook. Each week, I would spend a few minutes 4 my growing list, working to commit each word firmly to memory.
Honestly, it’s not an easy habit to 5 , and it’s often really inconvenient. For example, when reading on the subway, I have to stop and look up a word while trying not to elbow the stranger standing next to me.
That list now covers almost 20 pages, and this tiny habit has quietly changed me. Every time I look up and record a word, I feel a slight but clear sense of 6 , as if a rarely used part of my brain is being activated and forming new connections.
7 , I have started using words like “enthusiastic” and “demonstrate” in my speech, and it has made my mind much sharper. I notice that I’m using less of that small set of overused adjectives, and searching more for 8 , powerful words instead. There’s nothing more satisfying than finally 9 the precise word you’ve been searching for.
In an era when our devices constantly draw away our attention, the habit has renewed my love of reading and has given me back something I feared I’d lost—the 10 of exercising a mind that, after years of mindless scrolling, is finally waking up again.

Neutrinos (中微子) are high-energy particles that come from deep space. Although more than one billion neutrinos pass through a human hand every second, high-energy neutrinos are 18 (extreme) rare and hard to detect. Belgian-born physicist Francis Halzen 19 (study) these elusive particles for decades before he won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on detecting them. Halzen and other scientists developed IceCube to detect neutrinos from the most energetic environments in the Universe. Because neutrinos pass straight through matter, they allow researchers 20 (draw) a straight line back to the high-energy cosmic events that produced them, providing a unique way of probing astrophysical phenomena.

I was a happy girl who sang whenever I could, annoying my parents endlessly by letting out my screaming voice in the middle of the night. But one bad performance changed my passion and the way I saw myself. I forgot the lyrics in my elementary school performance, and it felt like the worst mistake that I had ever made. I refused to sing even though it was previously my whole world.
My inborn clear lens of the world became blue and I felt sad every time I heard my friends happily singing and joking around. I desperately wanted to join them but at the same time, I never wanted to feel the fear of forgetting the words ever again.
Gradually, I realized how much power that one moment held over me and began to ask myself: just because I failed in that one memory, does that really mean that the same thing will happen again? I rewatched my old performance and realized that it was not a total disaster like how it was in my mind. Today, I only want to see reality through clear coloured lens—not the lens that screen out everything positive in the world.
Now that I am older and wiser, I understand that the past doesn’t define me. I am proud to say that I have found my passion in Italian opera. I will be visiting Tuscany this summer to study and perform opera. The nervous elementary school kid who refused to sing came out of her shell because she chose to ignore the past and focus on the present.
I might forget the lyrics to my songs this summer, in front of 300 people who are fluent in the language that I am singing in. That won’t stop me from continuing to sing and it won’t stop me from loving what I do. You may not reach as far as you want to, but you at least have the power to start something. Don’t give up any of your power to the past because it does not perfectly represent the person you are as a whole. Instead, direct all your attention to the now.
24. How did the author feel about her elementary school performance?
A. Anxious. B. Discouraged. C. Surprised. D. Confused.
25. In the passage, the author uses “the lens” to represent ______.
A. how she views the reality
B. what the real world is like
C. what happened in the past
D. how she feels about herself
26. Which would best describe the author on the stage now?
A. Excited but forgetful.
B. Passionate but afraid of failing.
C. Cautious due to her childhood fears.
D. Confident despite possible mistakes.
27. What can we learn from this passage?
A. Treat the present as a present.
B. Failure is the mother of success.
C. Hold on to the power of the past.
D. Reality makes one older and wiser.

Research sometimes proves, with data, what we more or less already know. Exercise is good for you, and polluted air isn’t. Still, sometimes our intuitions are incorrect, and scientific findings surprised researchers, along with the rest of us. A recent example is the phenomenon of vanishing lakes in the Arctic region.
You might think these lakes would be expanding, not vanishing. As climate change warms the Arctic region, melting surface snow and ice and thawing (解冻) permafrost (冻土), there should be more surface water. Existing lakes should be growing. Recently, however, scientists have observed not just shrinking lakes, that is, lakes are becoming smaller, but lakes that have completely disappeared. A paper published this year in Nature Climate Change, based on satellite imagery, found widespread lake loss across the Arctic over the past 20 years.
Many scientists shared the commonsense expectation that as permafrost thawed, lakes would at first expand because of the increased meltwater flowing into them. Eventually, researchers projected, progressive warming during the 21st and 22nd centuries would dry out the Arctic enough that lakes would begin to shrink. But now it looks as if Arctic lakes are disappearing a century or more sooner than they were predicted to.
What is causing this to happen? Basically, the ground is becoming more permeable (可渗透的). We talk about “solid ground,” but its particles of rock, mineral and organic matter actually have spaces between them. In permafrost, the spaces are filled with solid ice, so liquid water cannot readily pass through them. But when the permafrost thaws, water can flow downward.
Why did scientists miss this? One reason is that most climate models assume that permafrost thaw is driven only by warming air. New evidence suggests that rainfall is now contributing greatly to permafrost loss. The rainfall carries heat into the ground. Yet none of the models incorporated such processes. This is a good example of why—no matter how advanced our models are—we will still need to continue making direct observations of the natural world.
The Arctic lakes provide crucial freshwater for critical habitats for a wide range of plants and animal life. The loss of wet areas that accompany these lakes can also lead to an increase in wildfires, which only serves to melt more permafrost. The permafrost thaw will lead to the release of some greenhouse gases, which will accelerate global warming.
There is, of course, a clear path to saving Arctic lakes: stop the carbon pollution that is driving global climate change.
28. From the passage, we can learn that ______.
A. Arctic lake loss occurred sooner than predicted
B. Arctic lakes were expected to shrink immediately
C. growing lakes contributed to increased surface water
D. thawing permafrost makes the ground less permeable
29. Scientists failed to make the correct prediction about the Arctic lakes because _____.
A. they didn’t employ advanced enough models
B. they didn’t anticipate the effect of the rainfall
C. they didn’t make use of the climate models properly
D. they didn’t make their predictions based on sufficient data
30. What would be the best title for this passage?
A. The Effects of the Lake Loss
B. The Measures against the Lake Loss
C. The Puzzle of the Disappearing Lakes
D. The Phenomenon of Permafrost Thaw
D
Since quitting can start feelings such as guilt and shame, we often do everything possible to avoid it. “We’re taught from our earliest days that if you quit something, it means you’re a failure,” says the psychologist Will Meek. He, however, suggests we view quitting differently.
Quitting is like deciding to rearrange a room: you’ve grown comfortable with the status, and it can be hard to picture the end result or even see why change is necessary. And yet, there’s the upsetting feeling that you’re no longer entirely satisfied with your current circumstances, perhaps even that you’ve stopped making progress. While it’s not out of the question for feelings of regret to surface after a major refit, leaving a position, project or situation can reveal exciting possibilities, making you feel inspired and renewed.
Quitting often happens in situations where we’re unhappy, fearful or have determined we have no other choice, factors that can have ill effects on our health. Perhaps you find your work unfulfilling, or you’ve jumped into a new relationship before you’re ready—and, as a result, you’re operating under intense pressure. “If stress is enduring and not managed well, it can start to take a toll,” says Meek. According to the American Psychological Association, long-term, ongoing stress can increase the risk for high blood pressure and heart attack, so walking away from whatever is causing it can deliver significant physical and emotional health benefits. “We often see a reduction in the stress hormone cortisol (应激激素皮质醇), which can lower blood pressure and may even decrease the heart rate,” says Dr. Alex Lickerman, a GP and expert on developing mental adaptability.
Leaving situations that fail to bring you joy can leave you with sufficient time to explore where your heart is truly leading you. In a study that was published in 1999, then Harvard University professor Herminia Ibarra looked at how bankers tried different roles that required new skill sets—someone who spent a lot of time dealing with computers, for instance, was asked to take on personal interactions. Subjects were especially drawn to acting out a version of their future selves through ‘imitation strategies’—an approach they compared to ‘trying on different clothes.’ Mark Franklin, the president of CareerCycles, suggests a similar approach as a way to figure out what your true desires might be in your post-quitting life and foresee your future self. “Pretend to be a certain kind of person, or go and meet others who are doing what you want to do,” he says. “Try it on, see how it feels and decide if it’s a good fit for you.” It may not feel like it at the time, but just moving on from a situation that’s not quite right can help you get back on track.
31.It can be inferred from paragraph 2 that quitting may bring us feelings of being both ______.
A. stupid and enthusiastic B. inspired and determined
C. troubled and hopeful D. guilty and ashamed
32. The underlined phrase “take a toll” probably means ______.
A. have a bad effect B. bring about changes
C. keep up the pressure D. develop mental adaptability
33. The author mentions Mark Franklin’s approach similar to “trying on different clothes” mainly to ______.
A. tell capable employees from inadequate ones
B. help people find what truly suits them in career
C. train employees to acquire different working skills
D. provide people with opportunities to have a role play
34.It can be concluded from the passage that ______.
A. quitting is a track that only the timid will choose to follow
B. knowing when to stop is wise and may make dreams happen
C. personal interaction can be a must for reducing emotional pressure
D. mental adaptability can be improved by the stress hormone cortisol
第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。
With climate change continuing to worsen, our situation is beginning to feel increasingly serious. 35 Is it right? Maybe not.
Techno-optimism is one of the greatest misconceptions when it comes to solutions to ensure our future. It can be defined as a belief that future technologies will solve all of our current problems. This definition reinforces (强化) the idea that there’s no reason to panic or change our current energy-intensive lifestyle. All society needs to do is look to green technology to work its magic. 36
One of the best examples of this optimistic misconception is the electric car. Despite being highly regarded as an eco-friendly way to get around, electric cars are not the end for the future of transport. Batteries in electric cars use chemical elements which we could be seeing a shortage of by the midcentury. 37 Techno-optimism has led many to believe that if everyone just switched to driving electric vehicles, we would be making incredible steps towards sustainability. However, the reality is that the amount of resources and energy needed to produce enough electric vehicles for everyone is not even remotely sustainable.
38 Investing in public transportation and moving away from individually owned vehicles. Producing fewer cars. Improving recycling practices of old batteries. The solutions we seek should not be rooted in new technology, but be about changing the way our society functions.
Techno-optimism puts too much emphasis on technology and not enough on what we can do right this minute. Unfortunately, people seem to like the picture that techno-optimism paints. 39 It is important to understand that the problem begins when we see those technologies as a way to make our current lifestyles eco-friendly. Until we are ready to face the need for a less complex life, we cannot make true progress towards sustainability.
A. So where should we look for answers instead?
B. The modern world’s simple solution is technology.
C. Moreover, they are more energy intensive to produce.
D. Is it a trap that many people have fallen into in recent years?
E. Unfortunately, this is an incredibly dangerous opinion to hold.
F. Despite any technology, we as a whole are not living sustainably.
G. Nevertheless, the truth is, we need a widespread change in our lifestyles.
第三部分 书面表达(共5小题;共32分)
第一节(共4小题;第40、41题各2分,第42题3分,第43题5分,共12分)
阅读下面短文,根据题目要求用英文回答问题。请在答题卡指定区域作答。
Mastering financial literacy—the ability to understand and effectively manage personal finances—is a critical skill that can shape your future success. Financial literacy isn’t something distant or abstract. It’s a set of practical skills that can be developed from an early age. As you start a new school year, it’s an ideal time to explore topics such as budgeting and the importance of responsible spending.
You can turn everyday activities into learning opportunities to enhance your financial education. For example, grocery shopping can be a way to practice budgeting. You can help make a shopping list, estimate the prices of items, and discuss why it’s essential to stick to a budget. This not only helps you understand the value of money but also teaches you to compare prices and think about whether you really need to spend more on certain items.
When purchasing school supplies or holiday gifts, take a moment to reflect on what you truly need versus what you simply want. Learning to differentiate between “needs” and “wants” will empower you to make smarter spending decisions in the future.
Getting involved in family discussions about larger purchases can also help you build financial awareness. Asking questions like, “Do we have enough savings?” you will gain a better understanding of the importance of money management and develop clear financial goals.
As you grow older, you’ll need tools to manage your money effectively. Banks offer various tools to support financial literacy at different stages of development. For younger individuals, debit cards with parental controls can provide real-life experience with spending and saving. As you progress into your high school years, you can transition to accounts that offer more independence while still allowing parents to maintain oversight.
However, developing financial literacy doesn’t stop when you turn 18. Discussions should continue, focusing on more advanced topics such as credit building, debt management, and long-term financial planning.
By starting early and engaging in these financial discussions, you will lay a solid foundation for your future and cultivate good financial habits that will last a lifetime.
40. What is financial literacy according to the passage?
41. Why can grocery shopping help practice budgeting?
42. Please decide which part is false in the following statement, then underline it and explain why.
· As you enter high school, you will have access to accounts that give you more independence without parental involvement.
43. If you get ¥500 as pocket money, what are you going to do with it to show your financial literacy? (In about 40 words)
