【参考范文】
Last weekend, I made something special with my own hands. It was a wooden pen holder for my father, because his pens were always here and there on the desk.
First, I asked my uncle for some pieces of wood, sandpaper and glue. Then I cut the wood into five pieces and stuck them together. It sounded easy, but things went wrong at first — the pieces didn't stand straight, and I hurt my finger a little. I didn't give up. I read the instructions again, used the sandpaper carefully and tried one more time. Two hours later, the pen holder was finally ready.
When my father put his pens into it, he smiled happily. I felt proud of myself. Now I know that patience and love can turn simple materials into something wonderful. Hands-on fun brings us more than things — it teaches us to keep trying.
【范文点评】全文按“做了什么、怎么做的、感受如何”三段展开,覆盖三个要点;使用 first、then、later 等衔接词,并用 didn't give up、felt proud of 等表达情感,结尾升华主题,符合 90 词左右的写作要求。

Hello, everyone! I'm Anna, an exchange student from Helsinki, Finland. Now I'm studying in Class Two, Grade Eight, here in Nantong. People often ask me the same question: what is a school day like in Finland? Well, our lessons start at nine o'clock, later than yours, and we have only four lessons a day. After each lesson, we go outside to play for fifteen minutes — even on cold winter days! In Finland, we don't have many exams. Instead, we do a lot of group work and hands-on projects. This term, I'm working on a project about the Haohe River with my Chinese friends. We collect information, take photos and make a model of the beautiful river park. Sometimes things go wrong, but we never give up. I'm learning Chinese, too. It's really difficult, but my classmates teach me patiently after class. I love my school life here, and I hope you can visit my country one day!

Amani is a Grade 8 student in Nairobi, Kenya (肯尼亚). Every month, she writes to her Chinese pen friend, Zhao Min, a girl from Nantong. In her letters, Amani often talks about the long way to school. “It takes me almost two hours to walk there,” she once wrote. “But I love my school. Our library has only one bookshelf, so I have read every book on it — some of them three times!”
After reading the letter, Zhao Min had an idea. She started a small project with her classmates called “Books on the Move”. They collected used books, cleaned them and packed them into boxes. In three months, they collected 215 books, from picture books for young children to novels for teenagers.
Two months later, a parcel (包裹) arrived in Nairobi. Amani and her classmates were so excited that they opened it under the big tree in front of their school. Now their one-shelf library has five shelves, and the students there take turns to be the “librarian” (图书管理员).
“I never thought my letters could travel so far,” Amani wrote in her next letter. “Your books are like windows. Through them, we see the world — and we see you, our friends in China.”

Students around the world learn in different ways. Let's take a look at three countries.
In Finland, students have fewer exams and more projects. In a science class, they may spend a whole week studying a nearby forest — counting trees, testing the water and writing reports. Teachers there say students learn best when they use their hands and eyes together.
In Japan, students learn a special “subject” — cleaning! Every day after lunch, they clean their classrooms, hallways and even the school toilets for about fifteen minutes. The idea is simple: if you keep your school clean yourself, you will not throw rubbish around.
In Brazil, some schools hold “maths fairs” every year. Students make games about numbers and invite their parents and younger students to play. “If you can teach a game, you really understand it,” says a maths teacher in São Paulo.
There is no single “best” way to learn. Whether you are counting trees in Finland or cleaning your classroom in Japan, the goal is the same — to become an active learner for life.
58.In Finnish schools, students ______ .
A. have exams every week
B. learn through projects and hands-on activities
C. clean their school themselves
D. never go outdoors
59.Why do Japanese students clean their school every day?
A. Because there are no cleaners in Japan.
B. Because they should keep their school clean themselves.
C. Because their parents ask them to.
D. Because they have no classes in the afternoon.
60.What happens at Brazilian “maths fairs”?
A. Students sell maths books.
B. Students take difficult maths exams.
C. Students make and share number games.
D. Parents teach maths to students.
61.The writer probably agrees that ______ .
A. Chinese schools are the best in the world
B. students learn best from exams
C. the way of learning matters more than the goal
D. students in different countries share the same goal of active learning
D
It was a quiet Sunday afternoon. Twelve-year-old Chen Xi was cleaning the living room when the accident happened — her mother's favourite blue bowl fell from her hands and broke into pieces. Chen Xi's heart almost stopped. The bowl was a gift from Grandma, and Mum loved it very much.
That evening, Chen Xi told Grandma about it on the phone, ready for a long lecture (训斥). To her surprise, Grandma just laughed softly. “Bring the pieces to me next weekend,” she said. “In Japan, people have a beautiful way to deal with broken things. It is called kintsugi (金缮) — they repair broken bowls with gold, and the cracks (裂缝) become part of the beauty.”
The next weekend, Grandma and Chen Xi mixed the golden paint and put the pieces together, line by line. Two hours later, the bowl stood on the table again — but now, golden lines ran across the blue surface like rivers on a map. “You see,” Grandma said, “things that break are not useless. With patience and love, they can become even more beautiful.”
Chen Xi told her mother everything and said sorry. Mum didn't blame her. Instead, she put some fresh flowers into the bowl and placed it in the middle of the dining table. “This is the most special bowl in our family,” she said, “because it carries a story.”
62.How did Chen Xi feel after breaking the bowl?
A. Excited.
B. Worried and afraid.
C. Proud.
D. Relaxed.
63.What do Japanese people do in kintsugi?
A. They throw broken bowls away.

D. How to Clean the Room
第二节 阅读短文,从所给的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,使短文通顺,结构完整。其中一项是多余的。
Why do some students seem to learn everything easily? The secret is not talent but habits. Here are five habits of good learners.
66
Don't wait for others to ask first. If something in class is not clear to you, put up your hand at once. Good learners are not afraid of looking “silly” — they know that one small question can save hours of confusion.
Review soon after class
Most of us forget most of what we learn within a day. 67 Look at your notes again on the same evening, and the knowledge will stay much longer in your mind.
Teach it to someone else
68 When you explain a physics problem to your deskmate, you have to organise your thoughts clearly, and this helps you understand it better yourself.
Learn from your mistakes
69 Copying the right answer into your exercise book is not enough. Find out why you made the mistake, and you will never make the same one again.
Give your brain a rest
Our brain is like a muscle (肌肉). 70 After studying for forty minutes, stand up, look out of the window or take a short walk. A fresh mind learns twice as fast.
A good habit is like a good friend — it helps you quietly, day after day. Try these habits from tomorrow morning!
A. Asking questions in time is the first step to real learning.
B. Review your lessons on the same day.
C. The more time you spend studying, the better you will learn.
D. Never let a mistake go without a second look.
E. Rest is part of study, not the enemy of study.
F. Explaining something to others is a powerful way to learn it yourself.
第Ⅱ卷(非选择题 共60分)

Last Saturday was a 76 (sun) day, and our school held its 77 (twelve) “Hands-on Fun Day”. More than three hundred students took part in it. My best friend Wang Lei and I joined the woodworking group. Mr Ma answered our questions 78 (patient) and showed us how to use the tools safely. My first cut was crooked (歪的),and I 79 (make) two more mistakes before lunch. But Mr Ma wasn't angry. “Mistakes are part of learning,” he said. “Take your time.” Little by little, I learned how to use the 80 (knife) safely, and we always put them back into the toolbox after using them. In the afternoon, Mr Ma asked Wang Lei and 81 (I) to help some Grade 7 students. At four o'clock, we showed our works on the playground. My First Tie-dye T-shirt
Last month, our class went to a tie-dye (扎染) workshop in the city museum. Tie-dye is a traditional Chinese art with a h 86 of more than one thousand years. When we arrived, the artist showed us some of her works. The blue and white patterns (图案) were so beautiful that we couldn't w 87 to start.
First, she taught us to twist the cloth and tie it with rubber b 88 . Then we put the cloth into the blue dye (染料). About ten minutes l 89 , we took it out, washed it and u 90 the bands. When I opened my T-shirt, I was s 91 to see a pattern like white flowers on the blue “sky”.
My T-shirt looked different from everyone else's, because no two tie-dye works are the s 92 . Our teacher told us that this art is now popular in many other countries. An artist from Japan once came to Nantong to learn it, and she said it was s 93 to their own traditional dyeing art.
Now I wear my tie-dye T-shirt every summer. It r 94 me that beautiful things can come from our own hands. If you have a c 95 to try tie-dye, don't miss it — you will love it!
七、阅读与回答问题 阅读下面的短文,然后根据短文内容回答问题。(本题共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
Nantong, my home town, is famous for its blue calico (蓝印花布) — a traditional art of printing blue and white patterns on cloth. It has a history of more than 800 years, and in 2006 it was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage (国家级非物质文化遗产).
My grandma is a calico artist. In her small workshop, there are more than one hundred wooden printing boards, and the oldest one is older than my father. Every summer holiday, I go there and help her. Last July, my French pen friend Léo came to Nantong, and I took him to Grandma's workshop.
At first, Léo thought the blue cloth was “just cloth”. But when he saw Grandma print patterns with the wooden boards — flowers, fish, birds and old stories — his eyes opened wide. “In France, we have very old churches and castles (城堡),but this art lives in people's daily life — in your clothes, bags and even shoes,” he said.
With Grandma's help, Léo made a small blue calico bag. He says he will show it to his classmates in Paris and tell them the story behind it. “Culture is not only in museums,” he wrote in his travel diary. “It is in our hands, and it travels when we share it.”
