根据固定搭配show talent for“在……
When“当……时”、While“当……时”、Before“在……
as“作为”、though“虽然”、before“在……之前”均不符合逻辑。
【18题详解】
句意:顾客很惊讶她能在这么小的年纪创造出令人印象深刻的设计。
“such a young age”和“impressive designs”形成的反差,顾客的反应应是惊讶,surprised“惊讶的”符合语境。
后文引语“I don’t usually draw out my cakes”说明她通常不画草稿,without“没有”符合文意。by“通过”、to“到”、on“在……上”均不符合语境。
【20题详解】
句意:如果我需要额外的支持,我会和爸爸谈谈。
根据“talk with my dad”可知,在创业过程中与父亲沟通通常是为了寻求建议或支持,support“支持”涵盖面广且符合亲情语境。time“时间”、money“钱”、energy“能量”均不符合语境。

B
My kids and I were heading into the supermarket over the weekend. On the way, we spotted a man holding a piece of paper that said, “Lost my job. Family to feed.”
At this store, a sight like this is not normal. My 10-year-old noticed him and made a comment (评论) on how bad it must be to have to stand outside in the cold wind.
In the store, I asked each of my kids to pick something they thought our “friend” there would appreciate. They got apples, a sandwich and a bottle of juice. Then my 17-year-old suggested giving him a gift card. I thought about it. We were low on cash ourselves, but ... well, sometimes giving from our need instead of our abundance (充裕) is just what we need to do! All the kids declared (宣称) something they could do away with for the week.
When we handed him the bag of food, he lit up and thanked us with watery eyes. When I handed him the gift card, saying he could use it for whatever his family might need, he burst into tears.
This has been a wonderful experience for our family. For days, the kids have been looking for others we can help! Things would have played out so differently if I had simply said, “No, we really don’t have money to give more.” Stepping out not only helped a brother in need, it also gave my kids the sweet taste of helping others. It’ll go a long way with them.
24. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. giving him some food B. giving from our abundance C. giving him a postcard D. giving from our need
25. Which is the right order of what happened in the story?

b. Each child picked some food for the man in the store.
c. A poor man lost his job and asked people for help.
d. All kids did away with something and gave him a gift card.
e. They saw the poor man outside the supermarket and took pity on him.
A. c-e-d-b-a B. c-e-b-d-a C. e-c-d-b-a D. e-c-b-d-a
26. What can we infer (推测) from the last paragraph?
A. They had helped many people before offering this poor man help.
B. They will try their best to help more people in the future.
C. If mother had said NO, the kids would have helped in a different way.
D. They won’t help more people because they can’t afford to do so.
D 25. B 26. B
根据第三段“Then my 17-year-old suggested giving him a gift card. I thought about it. ... sometimes giving from our need instead of our abundance is just what we need to do!”
根据第一段“On the way, we spotted a man holding a piece of paper that said, ‘Lost my job. Family to feed.’”、第二段“My 10-year-old noticed him and made a comment ... on how bad it must be”、第三段“In the store, I asked each of my kids to pick something”和“All the kids declared something they could do away with ... gave him a gift card”以及第四段“thanked us with watery eyes ... burst into tears”可知首先是一名男子失业求助(c),随后作者一行人在超市外看到该男子并心生同情(e),进入超市后每个孩子为男子挑选了食物(b),之后所有孩子都决定省出本周的部分开支,给男子送上礼品卡(d),最后男子感动得落泪致谢(a),对应正确排序为c-e-b-d-a。
根据最后一段“For days the kids have been looking for others we can help! ... It’ll go a long way with them.”
C
There are many problems that young people have to face when we stop being children. At this age all feelings and emotions are very strong. All problems seem very important.
The first terrible thing is misunderstanding from the dearest people—parents. They do not understand why we need to buy things we want to buy, listen to this type of music or spend most of our spare time with our friends. We do not want to hurt their feelings but they should try to understand us.
The same misunderstanding we face sometimes comes from the side of the teachers. They think that youth is given for studying. But a person who only studies is dull (无趣的). Some teachers do not understand that youth is the time for us to learn about people and about ourselves, to play and to try things. They try to keep us away from all dangers in our lives. But teenagers need adults to take them seriously and give them a friendly hand, not a punishment.
▲ I think, young people need to have pocket money for buying books, pens, ice-cream and so on. But I do not think it is a good idea to ask parents to give me some money. If I find a part-time job, they will say it distracts (使分心) me from studies. If I ask for money, they say they spend too much on my school, clothes and other things.
Sometimes the problem of fashion appears. My parents try to buy me clothes to their taste. Sometimes that’s all right, but sometimes I want something more fashionable, especially for summer. Then we can argue (争吵) for hours. It is interesting that in the question of clothes, my mother is on my side, but in the question of books and music, my father supports me.
Being young is not easy, but it is an important time to learn and grow. Problems like these may feel big now, but they also help us understand ourselves better. If we can talk with adults honestly, find good friends who support us, and be true to who we are, we will get through these years smoothly. Remember, all these experiences—the good and the hard—are preparing us for the future ahead.
27. Which of the following sentences can be put in ▲ ?
A. The problem of money is important as well. B. A part-time job is another common problem.
C. It’s hard for us to ask parents for some money. D. Saving money is a necessary skill for the future.
28. Which sentence would the writer keep in his diary?
A. I am too busy to take part-time jobs. B. I like my parents to buy clothes for me.
C. I want to make more choices by myself. D. I hope my teachers help me with my study.
29. How is the passage organized?
A. Time order. B. Space order.
C. From specific to general. D. From general to specific.
30. What’s the main purpose of the passage?
A. To show youth is even better than adulthood. B. To encourage teenagers to take on challenges.
C. To advise teenagers to face problems bravely. D. To guide teenagers to deal with their daily needs.

Success does not belong to a select group of individuals (个人). Success belongs to those who are willing to go after it and try their best to do what they have to do. Here are some useful practical ways for you if you want to be a success.
Desire. Desire is the strong wish to achieve a goal. Without desire, you have nothing. Before you can run with desire, your goal must be plain, clear, and it must also be exciting.
Show up. Seventy percent of success in life is showing up. You can’t have a best seller, if you have never written a book. You can’t get your dream job, if you’re afraid to turn in an application. Showing up doesn’t guarantee (保证) success, but if you don’t show up, you won’t succeed.
Fail. Unless you’re willing to have a try, fail unhappily, and have another try, success won’t happen.
To have success, you have to do things the right way, but often the only way to do something right is to first fail at it. As Thomas J. Watson said, a simple formula (公式) for success is to double your rate of failure (失败). So welcome failure, become a student of failure, learn from failure, and soon you will succeed.
Work harder. Everyone runs, but everyone is not willing to run for an hour every day. Success is not about doing what the common person can’t do. It’s about doing what the common person is unwilling to do. And on a deeper level, it’s about creating habits that the common person is unwilling to create. It’s the habit of doing things with excellence that causes success.
Enjoy the journey. Success is a journey, not a destination (终点). Success is not a certain car or a certain house or a certain happy marriage. Success is the enjoyment of the journey. You have to enjoy the journey.
Someone once said, “Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got.” You have to change, you will change, you will succeed.
31. Which of the following is NOT mentioned (提及) in achieving success?
A. Good education. B. Working hard. C. Strong desire. D. Enjoying failure.
32. What does the writer really mean by saying “Everyone runs, but everyone is not willing to run for an hour every day.”?
A. It’s not easy for people to develop their health.
B. Keeping working harder is necessary when you go after success.
C. You are sure to meet with some difficulty in your life.
D. Most people don’t want to spend too much time running.
33. What does the writer mostly want to tell us in the fourth paragraph?
A. Failure is the mother of success. B. Many hands make light work.
C. Every dog has its day. D. Actions speak louder than words.
34. Which of the following is TRUE about success according to the passage?
A. If you want to succeed, you should have special talents.
B. If you want to succeed, you’d better not show up.
C. Success means the enjoyment of your gain or loss on the journey.

It’ll go a long way with them.

D. Success is about doing what the common person can’t do.
