教学目标

通过本课时的学习，学生能够：

1.借助图文，了解几种主要的天气类型；

2.获取和梳理两名同学喜爱的季节及原因等信息，提取和归纳询问、描述季节的词汇和语言表达；

3.运用相关词汇和语言表达，开展同伴问答活动，互相交流自己喜爱的季节及原因，初步感受四季的特征；
4.了解中国二十四节气与农业生产的关联性，体会先辈们与自然和谐共处的智慧。

教学内容

教学重点：

1.通过图文或音频，初步认识和了解天气类型和季节特征；

2.提取和归纳询问、描述、评价喜爱的季节的核心语言表达；

3.知晓单元主题与学习目标。
教学难点：

1.运用恰当的英文表达与同伴进行对话，谈论自己最喜爱的季节及原因；
2.初步感受季节与天气的多样性，激发对大自然的热爱之情。

教学过程

Step 1 Leading in
1. Have students look at the picture on page 78 and answer the following questions.
(1) What can you see in the picture？
(2) How many seasons are there in a year?

(3) What is the topic of this unit?
2. Have students identify the season based on pictures or sounds.

3. Introduce the thematic sentence by presenting different months.   
  With the changing seasons come new beginnings.

4. Have students look at the overview on page 78 and get the learning objectives of this unit.

What will we do in this unit?
Step 2 Talking about weather and seasons
1. Have students look at the six pictures in Part A on page 79 and answer the following question.
  What are the six pictures about?
2. Have students finish Part A on page 79.
3. Have students learn about other types of weather.
4. Invite students to enjoy two famous Chinese poems and find out the features of the season.
5. Talk about the weather, activities and feelings in different seasons.
(1) What’s the weather like in spring/summer/autumn/winter in our city?

(2) What do we do in each season?
(3) How do you feel about each season?
Step 3 Talking about favourite seasons
1. Have students listen to Amy and Simon’s conversation in Part B on page 79 and answer the following questions.

(1) What is Simon’s favourite season? Why?
(2) What is Amy’s favourite season? Why?
2. Have students listen to the recording of the conversation and read along, and then read aloud in different roles.
3. Extract and summarize the useful expressions for talking about one’s favourite season.
4. Have students work in pairs and talk about their favourite seasons using the conversation in Part

B on page 79 as a model.
Step 4 Further study
1. Have students think deeply about farmers’ favourite seasons.
2. Lead into the topic of the 24 solar terms.
Step 5 Production
1. Have students finish Part C on page 79.
2. Encourage students to make a season card.
Step 6 Summary
Have students summarize what they have learnt in this lesson.
Step 7 Homework
Compulsory homework:

1. Fill in the blanks with proper words in the worksheet.

2. Complete your hometown’s season card.

Optional homework:

Search for more information about the 24 solar terms and share your findings with your classmates.
