Text 1
M: After you have finished cutting those tomatoes, I need you to get some bread and put some butter on it, OK? And then we can add some cheese to the bread and tomatoes.
W: OK, no problem!
Text 2
M: You’re home late. Why didn’t you catch the school bus as usual?
W: I missed it, so I started walking home. Then Lucy’s mom saw me and offered me a lift, but she had to stop at a shop on the way.
Text 3
W: Welcome, James, please take a seat. Doctor Smith shall see you very shortly.
M: OK, thank you, nurse Alice.
Text 4
W: Have you seen Tom’s new movie? It was excellent, better than the first one, I thought.
M: No, I haven’t seen any of them. I prefer action movies. I saw a new Chinese movie. It was great.
Text 5
W: Who is your favourite British writer?
M: Jane Austen.
W: Hmm. She’s good. D. H. Lawrence is my favourite and my sister likes Charles Dickens best.
Text 6
W: ⑥Dad, I’m worried about Jack. He didn’t come home after school in the afternoon.
M: ⑥He called me this morning to say that he would stay at Mike’s house this afternoon.
W: Where is Tom now then? It’s almost 5:00 p.m.
M: He’s at Lucy’s party. He said he would be home later in the evening. ⑦Stop worrying your brothers so much. They are old enough to take care of themselves.
Text 7
W: Do you like jazz music?
M: No, rock music is my favourite because I can sing along to it. Jazz music is too wild for me.
W: ⑧That’s exactly why I like jazz best. It makes you follow along with your mind and you really have to listen. It’s not like pop music on the radio. Pop music is boring and a pop song sounds so similar to every other pop song.
M: I have never thought about it that way. ⑨When I’m driving, I like classical music because it has no words.
Text 8
M: ⑩Are you still going on your hiking this weekend?
W: ⑩Yes, we will set off on Friday. We are going to walk 20 kilometers and then camp in the open air the first day. I can’t wait to breathe in the fresh air there!
M: Wow, that’s far. What will you do on Saturday?
W: On Saturday, we will travel the farthest, going through the city. ⑪On Sunday, we will have the hardest day because the mountains will make it hard to walk.
M: ⑫How did you get into hiking? I was given a pair of sports shoes when I was a kid. It was great! However, I never did a trip like you. My parents used to do something similar, but I was too young to go with them at that time.
W: ⑫I started when I joined a club at college and I really like this sport.
Text 9
M: ⑬Excuse me. I’m trying to get to the Space Needle, but I can’t seem to find the entrance. Can you help me?
W: ⑭Sure. Is this your first time in Seattle?
M: Yes, we’re from Chicago. We arrived about six days ago, and we’re driving down to San Francisco tomorrow.
W: Wow! Good for you. So, first of all, you’ll want to park your car. There is no parking lot around the Space Needle.
M: Oh, thanks for the tip. Are there any parking lots nearby?
W: Yes. Turn left and go straight. On the right-hand side, you’ll see one. You can park your car there.
M: OK. Then how can I get to the entrance? Here’s my map.
W: Great! ⑮So from the parking lot, you’ll need to walk two blocks and turn right.
M: Turn right?
W: Yes, you’ll pass the Children’s Theater and then the Science Center.
M: OK.
W: Then you’ll walk through the gardens, and the entrance will be straight ahead.
M: ⑯Thanks a lot! You’ve been very helpful.
Text 10(第20题为总结题)
M: ⑰On Thursday, I woke up feeling ill. I had a headache, and I felt really tired, although I went to bed early. Because I also had a fever, my mom said I should stay at home. ⑰I was worried about missing school because I had an important science test that day. If it had been for math or English, I could have taken the test online, but I needed to be in the lab. ⑱Dad called my school and explained the situation, and, thankfully, my teacher said I could take the exam when I felt better. By lunchtime, I had developed a cough. So, together with Dad, I went to the hospital to do a medical test. It was unpleasant, but not too bad. I got the result the next day. Luckily! It was not very serious, but it was still a very bad cold. ⑲I was in bed for five days and didn’t return to school until the following Wednesday. Anyhow, I passed my science test!

67.续写范文
A few days later, the results of the competition were finally announced. Lily sat rooted in her seat in the classroom, her heart beating fast with mixed nervousness and expectation. When the teacher called her name and declared her the first prize winner, she could hardly believe her ears. Her classmates burst into loud cheers around her. Her parents, who had come to the school specially, stepped forward and hugged her tightly. A surge of warmth spread through her whole body. All her hard work had eventually paid off. She recalled those long weeks when she practised painting the sunset over and over again. How grateful she was that she had plucked up the courage to sign up for the competition. It was truly a precious and unforgettable moment.

Late last month, dozens of kids and their grandparents set up camp in Southern California’s Dos Picos County Park for a weekend of arts and creations, games, and nature. They were attending a free “gramping (隔代露营)” event run by officials in San Diego County, where some 18,000 grandparents are raising their grandchildren. Gramping in general is a chance for the two generations to connect without parents. In the case of the San Diego event, it allowed adults who have guardianship (监护权) of their grandchildren to spend time with others in the same situation, sharing their experiences and offering encouragement to one another in the great outdoors.
Gramping doesn’t have to strictly be camping; it can refer to any kind of trip. Kelly Espy shared that taking her granddaughter to Italy mattered a lot. “When we left the group in the evening, we just went back to the room and talked about the day and talked about what she liked, what she didn’t like. It was good quality time that we had together,” Espy said. “I think she learned to trust her grandmother and rely on her completely. It was a good experience.”
According to a 2025 survey from the Family Travel Association, 28% of those surveyed had taken a skip-gen (跨代) trip in the past three years, and 35% were planning to take one in the next three. Hotels begin to stress skip-gen travel in their marketing materials, while the not-for-profit travel company Road Scholar offers over 50 trips designed for grandparents and their grandkids, from chocolate-tasting in Switzerland to sailing in Maine.
Road Scholar CEO James Moses said, “Gramping is about learning together, being curious together, experiencing the world together — all of which create great memories between a grandparent and grandchild that last a lifetime. Strong support from grandparents has been shown to beneficially influence children’s emotional well-being, while caring for grandchildren may keep grandparents’ brains active and help them live longer.”
24. What is the purpose of the San Diego gramping event?
A. To develop creativity among children.
B. To advertise local tourism in California.
C. To celebrate grandparents’ contributions to families.
D. To connect grandparent caregivers for shared support.
25. How does Espy feel about her travel with her granddaughter?
A. It inspired her global travel dream. B. It helped build a close relationship.
C. It showed cultural differences abroad. D. It taught them about independent travel.
26. What can we learn about skip-gen travel in paragraph 3?
A. It is limited to small travel groups.
B. It is winning increasing popularity.
C. It is attracting customers from abroad.
D. It is both educational and fun for families.
27. What is James Moses’ attitude towards gramping?
A. Positive. B. Uncertain. C. Negative. D. Worried.
C
Being optimistic (乐观的) about the future may help people save more money, according to a recent study published by the American Psychological Association. The study found that people who scored higher on optimism — naturally expecting positive outcomes — saved more money over time compared with less optimistic ones.
To explore this connection, researchers studied the information from eight large population surveys across the U.S., the U.K., and 14 other European countries, which included more than 140,000 people. The surveys asked these people to give a score to their agreement with statements such as “I am always optimistic about my future”. The researchers also collected data regarding people’s income, savings, and total wealth, tracking many of them over years to observe long-term financial (财务的) behaviors.
The results showed that more optimistic people reported having far more savings on average. This held true even when researchers blocked out other influences that affect money, like age, health, and whether they had a job or not. Surprisingly, this influence of optimism on saving behavior was found to be similar to that of being organized and responsible, a character feature widely recognized for its influence on financial success. Optimism even appeared to have a slightly stronger influence than money knowledge and how comfortable people are with losing money.
The researchers stressed that this effect was most obvious for poor populations. At higher income levels, people often save easily through future plans or simply because they earn more than they need to spend. “For someone living paycheck to paycheck, saving can feel useless,” the researchers noted. “But an optimistic attitude may provide the strength to set aside money despite present challenges.”
These results teach important lessons to people wanting to save money, especially people from low-income families. Traditional money classes usually just teach practical skills, like planning how to spend your money. In the end, mixing these smart money skills with methods that build a hopeful attitude might be the true secret to helping people achieve long-term money safety.
28. Why did researchers carry out the surveys?
A. To test different spending habits. B. To measure general living levels.
C. To compare income across countries. D. To connect attitudes with saving habits.
29. What have the researchers mainly found in their study?
A. Positive beliefs help build wealth.
B. High income often leads to optimism.
C. Age plays a key role in saving behaviors.
D. Learning about finance can increase savings.
30. What does the underlined part in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Running a business. B. Making plenty of money.
C. Buying more than needed. D. Struggling to cover daily costs
31. What is the author’s main suggestion?
A. Adding hope to money management. B. Teaching practical saving skills in life.
C. Setting long-term goals in personal finance. D. Building confidence in financial decision-making.
D
All languages change over time. New vocabulary is often required for the latest inventions or ideas. But a language can also change for reasons that are not clear.
Language changes whenever speakers communicate with each other. People from different places clearly speak differently, but even within the same small community, people speak differently depending on their age, origin, and social and educational background. When we communicate with these different speakers, in different situations, we hear new words and expressions, and can make them a part of our own speech. Even if your family has lived in the same area for generations, you can probably see a number of differences between the language you use and the way your grandparents speak. When enough time has passed, the influence of these changes becomes clearer.
During the 18th century, Jonathan Swift, the Irish writer, and many other people felt the English language was in serious decline (衰落) and that a national organization — like those in France and Italy — should be created to save the language. Swift once wrote that we should find a way to stop our language from changing. Even today, we hear people complaining about a lack of “standards (标准)” in spoken and written English. New words and expressions, or changes in grammar, are often considered bad.
More experts believe that change in language is unavoidable. Change is a way of keeping a language alive and useful, and gives speakers different ways of saying things with extremely small differences of meaning and ways of expressing completely new ideas. The organizations set up in France and Italy have had little success in reducing the amount of change in French or Italian.
In 1747, Samuel Johnson wrote about his desire to write a dictionary that would fix the pronunciation of English and keep it pure (纯正的). But when he completed the dictionary ten years later, he admitted in his introduction that fixing a language was impossible. Like it or not, language is always changing and English will go on doing so in many creative and — to some people — annoying ways.
32. What can we learn from the second paragraph?
A. Some people learn to speak better than others.
B. The youth should learn from their grandparents.
C. Language change is greatly influenced by people.
D. Language changes little if people stay in the same place.
33. What does Jonathan Swift think of language change?
A. He thinks it is hopeful.
B. He thinks it is unclear.
C. He agrees on the change.
D. He doesn’t agree on the change.
34. Why did Samuel Johnson decide to write a dictionary?
A. To create some new words. B. To include some foreign words.
C. To keep English pure from changes. D. To record the changes in English.
35. What would be the best title for the text?
A. Why does language change? B. Written English needs standards.
C. Does language change influence society? D. How to protect the language.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
In modern society, good mental health plays a big role in everyone’s daily life. 36 Small daily changes can make a big difference and help lift your spirits, lower your stress, and improve your overall well-being. Here are four simple habits that are easy to follow in everyday life.
37 Physical activity lifts your mood (心情) by producing feel-good chemicals and reducing stress. Research shows that exercise can be 1.5 times more effective than talking with an expert or taking medicine in treating depression (抑郁症). You do not need hard training or a marathon. Simple moves like taking the stairs or walking can keep your brain active and cheer you up easily.
Another important habit is to spend time in nature. Feeling the wind on your face or walking under trees can calm you down. You do not have to go far away. Just sit in a sunny place, or look at small details in nature, like leaves or flowers, on your way to school. 38
Reducing social media use is also a key habit. 39 But using it too much can hurt your productivity and increase the risk of depression and anxiety (焦虑), as well as weaken self-confidence. The good news is that a simple fix can do wonders. A study from Swansea University found that cutting back on social media use by just 15 minutes a day improves mental health. This small change gives you more time for real-life activities.
A curious mind and time for fun can bring positive changes. Curiosity helps you feel less worried about what may happen. 40 Enjoyable activities, such as watching your favorite show or taking a short break, can help you relax. Looking forward to little joys makes you mentally stronger. So stay curious and make time for something fun.
A. Exercise needs expert guidance first.
B. Phones cause many serious problems.
C. Taking regular exercise is a great choice.
D. Social media does help us connect with others.
E. Getting close to nature helps both your body and mind.
F. Learning new things lights up your brain and brings joy.
G. Taking care of your mental health can be simpler than you think.

Lily loved painting more than anything else in the world. Ever since she was a little girl, she had spent every spare moment with a paintbrush in her hand, losing herself in lines and colours. Her bedroom walls were covered with her works — breathtaking landscapes, lovely little animals and bright, colourful flowers. Yet Lily was extremely shy. She never dared to show her paintings to anyone except her parents, trembling at the thought of being criticized or laughed at.
One day, her school announced an art competition. The grand prize was amazing: the winner’s painting would be on show in the city’s art museum. Lily’s parents urged her to take part. Still, she hesitated, filled with self-doubt. “What if my painting is not good enough?” she whispered anxiously. “No one will laugh at you,” her mother comforted her gently. “The most important thing is to bravely have a try.”
After thinking carefully for a long time, Lily finally made up her mind. She devoted weeks to her piece. She chose to paint the splendid sunset over the lake near her home. She poured all her heart and soul into every stroke, adjusting colors repeatedly to catch that soft golden glow. When the competition day arrived, she carried her painting to school and handed it in. Worry crowded her mind. She was so nervous that she could barely fall asleep that night, wondering quietly whether her efforts would be worthwhile.
