Greenwood Forest Reserve, a 500-acre natural area in our city, is looking for high school students to join its “Youth for Nature” volunteer program this semester. The program aims to protect local wildlife, restore forest habitats, and help more people learn about the importance of living in harmony with nature.

Volunteers will take part in three main activities. First, every Saturday morning, we’ll plant native trees and clear invasive plants — these plants take away space and nutrients (养分) from local flowers that birds and butterflies depend on. Second, once a month, you'll help lead guided walks for primary school students, sharing fun facts about the forest’s animals (like squirrels and woodpeckers) and plants (such as oak trees and wild roses). Third, you’ll assist in a small wildlife survey: we'll teach you to record the number of birds you see, which helps us track how the forest's ecosystem is doing.

No former experience is needed — our team will provide a two-hour training course on the first day. You only need to promise at least 8 hours of volunteer work this semester.
