I serve him the same food as I do the kids. Occasionally, I lecture him about watching too much YouTube on his phone, but I pipe down if I hear that it is Romanian language news. I know that he is reconnecting with his homeland in the ways available to him. It was through this shared connection to the Romanian language that we eventually began translating a play together. Translation becomes a place where we can have the kind of confident, playful relationship that I see in the French version of Oana's play. This translator relationship shifts our other bonds and ties. The script(剧本)becomes a place to discover Romanian in a new light, and our identities of father and daughter move to the background, clearing space for new identities to emerge, such as scene partner and detective, with words as clues for our characters' own identities. Take the word “meghalt” in the abstract Scene 27. My father did not know its meaning but guessed that it was Hungarian. I searched for it online, and discovered that it meant“died”,a semantic(语义的)repetition of the original Romanian word and our English version. I suggested this could mean that the character—or the person to whom the character was speaking-was Hungarian, or at least spoke that language. My father, born and raised in Bucharest, then suggested that other words had Hungarian connotations(含义),making it easier for us to understand names like “Pista” and exclamations like “fain”(“great!”or“cool!”). In another instance, we looked through the photos in the online archive in hopes that they would help us better understand the play. Staring at one black-and-white image, we noticed Cyrillic letters on a university building. My father, required to take Russian while at school, knew the alphabet and began to translate. I Googled the letters, and I found that the university is in Bulgaria. I am amazed that my father contains so much language. 【高三英语 第3页(共8页)】 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 24. What does the phrase “pipe down” in paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Cheer up. B. Lose interest. C. Listen carefully. D. Keep quiet. 25.How does translation work impact the author? A. It worsens her anxiety about her career. B. It strengthens her identity as a daughter. C. It reshapes her relations with her father. D.It takes her time away from household chores. 26. What can we infer about Oana's play from the text? A. It contains Hungarian elements. B. It was originally written in French. C. It stars mainly Hungarian characters. D. It was about food cultures around the world. 27. What does the author aim to show with the story in paragraph 4? A. The difficulty in learning a language. B. Her father's language knowledge. C. The evolution of the Cyrillic letters. D. Her father's family background. C Describe the signs of sleep apnea(呼吸暂停)to a free AI chatbot, and it will tell you to see a specialist. But according to a study, if you play those symptoms down and resist, it may stop recommending one. The study's first author, Deeban Ratneswaran and his team created seven fictional patients. Each patient came in two versions. One was cooperative. The other doubted they needed treatment, played the symptoms down and resisted the referral(转诊). The chatbots were five free models chosen by market share: GPT-5, Gemini 2. 5 Flash, Claude Sonnet 4. 6,DeepSeek V4 Flash, and Grok-4. 3. Each one ran 10 conversations with both versions of all seven patients. A separate AI model then scored each conversation against a set of rules, recording whether it ended with the chatbot still recommending a specialist. For three of the seven cases, the chatbots kept recommending a specialist in nearly every conversation, even with a resistant patient. For the other four, they stopped in about half of the conversations or more. Three of those four involved a patient at risk behind the wheel. The chatbots dropped the referral in 34 of 50 conversations with a 58-year-old man who had already dozed(打盹)off at the wheel. With another 58-year-old man, who drives heavy trucks for a living, they dropped it in half. In those conversations, the simulated driver raised worries about losing his license and his livelihood. The chatbots took those worries too seriously. “In some cases with an immediate driving risk, the chatbots stopped recommending a referral more often than in lower-risk ones,” Ratneswaran said. “They did worst of all in asevere case with no driving involved, keeping the advice in about one conversation in five.” Ratneswaran said the training behind these chatbots was worth considering. Many large language models, or LLMs, are fine-tuned on people's preferences between answers, a step that can end up rewarding agreement over accuracy. “Nobody should play down symptoms hoping for a more reassuring answer. You do not need all of these symptoms to look for assistance. A chatbot' s reassurance shouldn’t replace an assessment by a clinician,”Ratneswaran added. 28. What will an AI chatbot probably do when patients push back? A. Change its advice. B. Stop offering service. C. Confirm symptoms. D.Doubt their accounts. 【高三英语 第4页(共8页)】 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 29.Why were the conversations with two drivers mentioned? A. To prove driving is a high-risk occupation. B. To inform drivers of the danger of driving. C. To explain the necessity of a safety instruction. D. To provide proof of chatbots’ poor performance. 30. Why did the chatbots drop the referral in some driving-related cases? A.They lacked knowledge about sleep apnea. B.They considered patients' symptoms mild. C. They gave much weight to patients’ concerns. D. They misunderstood patients’ descriptions. 31. What did Ratneswaran probably suggest people suspecting sleep apnea do? A. Describe the symptoms partly. B. Seek some medical help. C. Do a self-assessment of health. D. Trust chatbots' comfort. D The recent deadly polar bear attack on Brevoort Island is more than a tragic accident—it’s a clear reminder that climate change is rewriting the rules of life in the Arctic. When a seasoned fisherman like John Ussak needs to fire 20 warning shots to scare off a single bear near Rankin Inlet, it signals something larger than a one-off encounter. For decades, polar bears have been symbols of the frozen north secretive, and perfectly adapted to a world of sea ice and abundant seals. But that world is disappearing. Sea ice melts(融化)earlier, forms later, and sometimes forms poorly. Even in places where ice coverage remains "excellent”, the structure is changing—thicker slabs(冰板),and less snow, making it harder for seals to reproduce. A decline in seal numbers means less food for bears. Hungry polar bears wander farther, walking into communities that aren’t prepared to meet them. Open garbage pits and poorly managed waste make an easy attraction. Yet conversations in many northern communities still focus on hunting quotas(配额)and the economics of animal furs. While those concerns matter, they can’t overshadow the more immediate challenge: keeping people safe and bears alive. We shouldn't fool ourselves into thinking this is a passing phase. As University of Alberta biologist Andrew Derocher warns, “These encounters are going to increase over time and it's going to get a lot worse. The bears that once lay like ‘giant, fat sausages' on summer beaches are now leaner, hungrier, and more desperate.” The tragedy on Brevoort Island isn't simply about two dangerous animals. It's about a species and a region caught in the pressure of a warming planet. Communities from Nunavuit to the Northwest Territories need serious investment in polar bear guards, secure waste management, and emergency response plans. Because the harshest truth is this: if we fail to adapt, the encounters may stop only when the bears themselves are gone. And that, too, will be our loss. 32. What can we infer from paragraph 2? A. Thicker slabs are ideal for seals’ reproduction. B.Polar bears rely heavily on sea ice for survival. C. The food source of polar bears has to be changed. D.The animals in the Arctic lack a complete food chain. 33. What's Derocher's attitude towards the polar bear's current situation? A. Satisfied. B.Unconcerned. C.Hopeful. D. Pessimistic. 34. What is partly to blame for the increasing polar bear encounters based on the text? A. The disunity within communities. B. The prosperous fur business. C. The poorly managed waste system. D. The uneven hunting quotas. 35. Which can be a suitable title for the text? A. Climate Change Endangers Bears and Humans B. Losing Sea Ice Calls for Arctic Bear Policy C. Polar Bears Face Greater Climate Threats D. These creations bring unique experiences that erase the boundaries between the auditory(听觉的)and visual senses. 37. It explores the relationship between sound and visual representation. Sound art combinations often involve large-scale, interactive sound environments. These connections often use technology to transform sound in innovative ways. Another notable development is the integration of live music into art exhibitions. 38. The live performances add an element of naturalness and unpredictability to the exhibitions, making each visit a unique and unrepeatable experience. Despite these innovations, some artists argue that the integration of music into art can sometimes have different effects from the primary visual message. Critics have warned that the overuse of music can strongly impact the viewer's senses. 39 It is supposed to enhance the effect of visual art rather than overshadow it. To address this concern, many artists are now focusing on creating a more harmonious balance between music and visual art. 40. By carefully selecting and integrating musical elements, they aim to create works that are both visually striking and aurally engaging, offering viewers a truly multisensory experience. A. The use of music in film and video art has developed B. This special art form often challenges traditional ideas of storytelling C. They believe that music should serve as a supplement to the visual art D. One of the most striking examples of this trend is the rise of “sound art” E. This integration allows for a dynamic interplay between sound and image F. Artists are increasingly integrating musical elements into their own works G. It began on an autumn afternoon. I had just returned from work and spotted Mrs. Adele standing by her mailbox, holding a thick stack of bills. I rolled down my car window and called out to her. She managed a weary smile and mentioned that she hoped her nephew Elias hadn’t forgotten to pay her online bills again. “He's a good boy,” she said, “but he's busy with his own life. I don't like to bother him. ” I offered to help-to call the power company-but she shook her head firmly.“You have your own things to do, dear. I don't want to be a burden.” One night later, Oliver and I were making hot chocolate in the kitchen when he glanced out of the window.“Mom,” he said, his voice puzzled, “Why is Mrs. Adele's porch(门廊)light off?” I looked up. Her entire house was in absolute darkness. My heart sank. I realized then that her electricity had been cut off. She had been sitting in the cold and dark, alone. I explained this to Oliver. I was reaching for my phone to call the power company when Oliver appeared behind me, holding his piggy bank to his chest. It was heavy, clinking(叮当响)with three years of allowances.“People need porch lights to find their way home,” he said quietly, his small face serious. “If her light is off, how will she find her house in the dark?” His logic was so simple and so pure. He reminded me how Mrs. Adele had sat with him for hours, practicing spelling words when he was in the first grade. He remembered how she baked cookies for him on rainy afternoons and how she never missed her birthday. “We need to do something,” he said, eager to go out.注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 So we walked across the street together, hand in hand.
