B The winners of the 9th Lu Xun Literary Prize, one of China’s most respected national literary awards, were officially announced on July 15. Wang Jibing, a 56-year-old food delivery rider from Jiangsu Province, took home the poetry award for his collection Low Flight, creating a striking contrast between front-line delivery work and major literary acclaim.  Wang first took up writing in 1988, starting with fiction and essays. It was not until 2009 that he completed his first poem and gradually focused all his creative energy on poetry. For decades, he worked a series of physical jobs including construction work. At nearly 50 years old in 2018, he became a full-time delivery rider. Between back-to-back customer orders, he seized every spare moment to note down creative ideas. Over more than 30 years of consistent writing, he has produced nearly 6,000 poems in total.  To complete Low Flight, Wang interviewed more than 140 fellow riders face-to-face and surveyed another 60 riders via questionnaires. Written in simple yet sincere language, these poems vividly reveal delivery workers’ inner worlds and highlight the resilience and hope hidden within their exhausting daily routines. His well-known line — “Flying low is also flying” — perfectly sums up the book’s core theme: ordinary people’s down-to-earth struggles are meaningful signs of progress toward personal dreams.  Even with this respected literary honor, Wang plans to keep making deliveries until he reaches the official working age limit. He appreciates the vitality of this job, which fuels his creative inspiration. To him, the award is a recognition rather than a reason to abandon his simple daily lifestyle. He hopes to help the public understand delivery workers better and build deeper mutual understanding between different social groups.  Wang’s success reshapes public perceptions of literary creation. It breaks the common idea that serious writing belongs only to scholars and professional authors. Authentic stories rooted in real working lives carry powerful emotional impact. Wang’s journey proves that any ordinary person with careful observation and lasting passion can create touching literary works and earn nationwide recognition.  4. For what reason was Wang Jibing awarded the Lu Xun Literary Prize?  A. His devotion to improving delivery riders’ social status.  B. His poetic collection about ordinary working-class people. C. His long-term reports on blue-collar workers’ real life. D. His rich experience of doing various manual labour jobs.  5. What effort did Wang make for the completion of Low Flight?  A. He quit his delivery job to concentrate on material collection. B. He attended professional courses to polish his writing skills. C. He gathered firsthand materials from other delivery workers. D. He drew mainly from his own sufferings as a delivery rider.  6. What can we conclude about Wang from paragraph 4?  A. The award will motivate him to pursue a full-time writing career. B. His daily delivery job serves as a source for his literary creation. C. He intends to change public opinion by publishing more poems. D. The honor will push him to give up his present simple lifestyle.  7. Which of the following can best describe Wang Jibing?  A. Down-to-earth and determined                 B. Imaginative and ambitious  C. Patient and cautious                          D. Generous and outgoing C Nearly half of Americans and around 40% of Britons now use smartwatches, smart rings, or phone apps to track their sleep. But are these devices accurate? And do they actually help? A new study published in Nature found a U-shaped relationship between sleep duration and biological ageing, which provides a standard to judge whether the sleep-tracking tools work properly. Using data from roughly 500,000 people, researchers discovered that those who slept between 6.4 and 7.8 hours per night showed slower ageing than those who slept either more or less. Sleep trackers promise to help users hit this sweet spot. Most trackers distinguish sleep from wakefulness fairly well. Several studies have compared them to polysomnography (多导睡眠监测) — the gold standard that uses monitors to record eye movements, brain activity and heart rate. A 2024 paper found that three popular wearables agreed with polysomnography about 95% of the time in telling sleep from wakefulness. However, trackers become less reliable when identifying different sleep stages. A good night requires cycling between REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and several stages of non-REM sleep. Wearables match polysomnography on sleep-stage classification only 50-80% of the time. “That earns a C+ to B+,” says Harvard scientist Rebecca Robbins. Yet many devices still include these inaccurate readings in their sleep scores. Despite trackers’ shortcomings, most sleep researchers view them positively. They say the devices give them a better, more objective sense of how long they slept. Plus, they do seem to improve sleep habits. In a survey by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine 55% of adults who reported using sleep trackers said they had changed their behaviour after learning from the data. One small study, published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine in 2020, found that wearing a sleep tracker for a week improved self-reported sleep quality. Too much data can have downsides, though. Unlike trying to eat healthily or exercise, putting more thought and effort into sleeping can backfire. As many as 30% of sleep-tracker users report feeling anxious about their data — and that anxiety can feed into a vicious cycle, since concern about poor sleep is itself one of the most common causes of sleepless nights. But sleep data is not worth losing sleep over. There is a simpler alternative: whether you wake up feeling rested is the best indicator of how good your night actually was. 8. What is the key finding of the new study? A. Longer sleep ensures health. B. Sleep duration impacts aging. C. Middle-aged people sleep less. D. Sleep trackers are widely used. 9. What can be inferred about sleep trackers? A. They misjudge sleep stages. B. They match the gold standard. C. They exactly track brain waves. D. They poorly sense wakefulness. 10. What does the author suggest for judging sleep? A. Ignoring sleep data. B. Listening to your body. C. Using simpler devices. D. Relying on trackers’ scores. 11. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. New Findings on Sleep Cycles. B. Ways to Judge Sleep Quality. C. Sleep Trackers: Help or Harm? D. Can Sleep Data Cause Anxiety? D You finish a meal, feel completely full, and then someone opens a box of dessert. A moment ago, your body seemed finished with food. Now, suddenly, dessert sounds possible. We usually think of hunger as the only thing that drives eating. In one sense, that’s true. But modern life surrounds us with something that biology did not quite prepare us for: a constant stream of food cues — packaging, bakery windows, delivery photos… A recent study in Appetite studied why we may not be able to avoid overeating when faced with these food cues. For the study, 90 university students rated their current hunger and the desirability of eleven foods and on this basis two foods of equal rating were selected. Halfway through the experiment, they were fed one of the two foods until they no longer wanted more of it. After the meal, participants rated once again and as a result, they rated the food they ate as less desirable and the food showed “devaluation”. So far, this sounds like common sense: If you eat enough potato chips, the chips should become less tempting. If you eat enough brownies, brownies should lose some of their magic. The study confirmed that people themselves reported experiencing this. However, when researchers recorded students’ reward positivity signal in their brain, the results told a different story. The early brain signal did not shrink when participants saw images of the food they had just stuffed themselves with. The mind can “know” that a food is no longer worth pursuing, but a fast and automatic part of the brain still reacts to its cue as though it carries reward. This study helps explain one of the most frustrating aspects of eating. Overeating is not always a simple failure of willpower. It may begin earlier than that, in the split second when a food cue grabs the brain before deliberate control has had time to catch up. This suggests that self-control may not begin by erasing temptation (诱惑), but by overriding it. The first wave of evaluation may still arrive, but later processes can still step in and say no. Seen this way, self-control is not the absence of desire. It is the ability to outlast a signal that the brain continues to generate. 12. What is the modern challenge of eating? A. Wide availability of food. B. Intense biological hunger. C. Mounting emotional pressure. D. Frequent exposure to food signals. 13. What does the underlined word “devaluation” in paragraph 2 refer to? A. A drop in its market price. B. A growing attraction to people. C. A decline in its original appeal. D. A reduction in its daily supply. 14. What is the purpose of paragraph 3? A. To question the study’s findings. B. To introduce a new food experiment. C. To explain the reason behind hunger. D. To reveal the mind-brain contradiction. 15. What can we learn about self-control from the last paragraph? A. It results from the first food evaluation. B. It develops through repeated practice. C. It involves acting against lasting urges. D. It requires getting rid of desire for food. Heavy downpours brought by Typhoon Maysak triggered severe floods across Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in early July 2026. As a regular runner who kept exercising to strengthen his body, he had long looked forward to this event. He hoped to challenge himself, finish the 21-kilometer race smoothly, and enjoy the simple pleasure and freedom that running brought him. Full of confidence and excitement, he started the race with thousands of other runners on the sunny morning. Everything went well in the first half of the race. Pham kept a steady pace, breathing calmly and enjoying the lively atmosphere along the track. However, near the 10-kilometer mark, extreme tiredness suddenly swept over his body. Before he could react, sharp pain struck his chest. Dizzy and weak, he suddenly fell heavily to the ground, suffering from an unexpected severe heart attack. The sudden accident instantly aroused chaos among the crowd. Spectators and fellow runners around him froze and panicked. Most of them were ordinary people with no professional medical knowledge, not knowing how to offer standard first aid properly. They could only stare anxiously, feeling helpless in the face of the dangerous emergency. By incredible pure chance, Dr. Chiu, an experienced cardiac surgeon, was having brunch at a seaside restaurant nearby with his friends. Originally, he had planned to finish his meal and leave early to return to his work. Yet his friends persuaded him to stay for several more minutes to appreciate the beautiful ocean view and gentle sea breeze. It was this tiny and casual delay that enabled him to witness this life-threatening emergency just outside the restaurant window. Paragraph 1: Without hesitation, Dr. Chiu rushed over to Pham immediately. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Minutes later, the ambulance arrived. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 大余县梅关中学2026-2027学年度上学期高三英语第一次练习 第一部分听力 (共两节, 满分30分)  做题时, 先将答案标在试卷上, 录音内容结束后, 你将有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。 1. Generous and outgoing 【答案】4. B 5. C 6. B 7. B 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第一段“Using data from roughly 500,000 people, researchers discovered that those who slept between 6.4 and 7.8 hours per night showed slower ageing than those who slept either more or less.(研究人员利用大约50万人的数据发现,每晚睡眠在6.4到7.8小时之间的人,其衰老速度比睡眠时间更长或更短的人都更慢。)” 根据第三段“Wearables match polysomnography on sleep-stage classification only 50-80% of the time.(可穿戴设备在睡眠阶段分类上与多导睡眠监测的吻合度只有50%到80%。)” 根据最后一段“There is a simpler alternative: whether you wake up feeling rested is the best indicator of how good your night actually was.(有一个更简单的替代方法:你醒来时是否感觉休息好了,才是衡量你夜晚睡眠实际质量的最佳指标。)” 根据第一段“But are these devices accurate? And do they actually help?(但是这些设备准确吗?它们真的有帮助吗?)”以及后文既介绍追踪设备改善睡眠习惯的积极作用,又指出数据会引发焦虑等弊端可知,全文围绕睡眠追踪设备是利是弊展开。所以C项“Sleep Trackers: Help or Harm?(睡眠追踪器:帮助还是伤害?)”符合语境。 D You finish a meal, feel completely full, and then someone opens a box of dessert. D 13. C 14. D 15. 根据第一段“But modern life surrounds us with something that biology did not quite prepare us for: a constant stream of food cues — packaging, bakery windows, delivery photos… (但现代生活中充斥着人类生理机制尚未完全适应的事物:源源不断的食物线索——包装、面包店橱窗、外卖照片……)”可知,现代饮食的挑战是频繁接触食物信号。 【13题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第二段“After the meal, participants rated once again and as a result, they rated the food they ate as less desirable and the food showed “devaluation”. So far, this sounds like common sense: If you eat enough potato chips, the chips should become less tempting. If you eat enough brownies, brownies should lose some of their magic. (饭后,参与者再次评分,结果,他们认为他们吃的食物没那么有吸引力,食物显示出devaluation。到目前为止,这听起来像是常识:如果你吃了足够的薯片,薯片应该会变得不那么诱人。如果你吃了足够的布朗尼,布朗尼应该会失去一些魔力。)”可知,devaluation指的是食物变得不那么诱人,食物原有吸引力的下降。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“However, when researchers recorded students’ reward positivity signal in their brain, the results told a different story. The early brain signal did not shrink when participants saw images of the food they had just stuffed themselves with. The mind can “know” that a food is no longer worth pursuing, but a fast and automatic part of the brain still reacts to its cue as though it carries reward. (然而,当研究人员记录学生大脑中的奖励积极信号时,结果却有所不同。当参与者看到他们刚刚塞满自己的食物的图像时,早期的大脑信号并没有缩小。大脑可以“知道”一种食物不再值得追求,但大脑的一个快速而自动的部分仍然会对它的提示做出反应,就像它带来了奖励一样。)”可知,第三段旨在揭示大脑自动反应与主观认知之间的矛盾。 【15题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“This suggests that self-control may not begin by erasing temptation (诱惑), but by overriding it. The first wave of evaluation may still arrive, but later processes can still step in and say no. Seen this way, self-control is not the absence of desire. It is the ability to outlast a signal that the brain continues to generate. Heavy downpours brought by Typhoon Maysak triggered severe floods across Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in early July 2026. You mentioned that your school is discussing whether to ban students from using generative AI tools on campus. Personally, I support banning them at school. Firstly, AI tools may make students lazy. Some students just copy answers instead of thinking independently. Secondly, using AI in exams or homework is unfair and can be seen as cheating. Also, AI sometimes gives wrong information, which may mislead us. Therefore, schools should ban AI during school hours. At the same time, teachers can give lessons on how to use AI properly and honestly. We should also be encouraged to solve problems by ourselves. What’s your opinion? Looking forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 提升版(约125词) Dear Chris, Glad to hear from you. You mentioned that your school is discussing whether to ban students from using generative AI tools on campus. I’m strongly in favor of prohibiting them on campus. Admittedly, AI can be helpful, but its drawbacks outweigh its benefits. Unrestricted access may undermine students’ independent thinking and lead to over-dependence. Moreover, it encourages academic dishonesty, as AI-generated answers are hard to detect and create unfair advantages. In addition, students may take in false information without questioning it. Therefore, schools should ban AI during school hours. Meanwhile, they can offer AI literacy courses to teach us about its risks and responsible use. Exams must strictly forbid AI, and homework should be completed independently. Parents can also help monitor our use at home. In short, a ban is necessary unless clear rules can be strictly followed. What’s your school’s decision? Looking forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 立场二: 反对禁止 基础版(约105词) Dear Chris, Glad to hear from you. You mentioned that your school is discussing whether to ban students from using generative AI tools on campus. Personally, I don’t think a complete ban is a good idea. Firstly, AI tools can help us learn more efficiently. For example, we can use them to check grammar, get new ideas or practice languages. Secondly, AI is the future. If schools ban it, students may fall behind and fail to develop important skills. Of course, we shouldn’t use AI to cheat. Schools should make rules and teach us how to use AI properly. For example, AI can be allowed after class but not in exams. Teachers should guide us to think critically instead of copying. What’s your opinion? Looking forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 提升版(约125词) Dear Chris, Glad to hear from you. You mentioned that your school is discussing whether to ban students from using generative AI tools on campus. In my view, a complete ban is both impractical and short-sighted.AI is increasingly integral to education and future careers, so banning it may leave students unprepared for the real world. Besides, with proper guidance, AI can support personalized learning — for example, brainstorming ideas, checking grammar or practicing conversations. The problem is not AI itself but how we use it. What’s more, a ban is hard to enforce because students can easily use AI outside school, where they receive no guidance at all. Therefore, schools should establish clear rules instead of saying no. They can allow AI after class for learning support while forbidding it in exams. Teachers should guide us to use it critically, and schools can offer AI literacy courses. In short, the key lies in guidance, not prohibition. What’s your school’s decision? Looking forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 立场三:有条件支持(不支持完全禁止) 基础版(约105词) Dear Chris, Glad to hear from you. You mentioned that your school is discussing whether to ban students from using generative AI tools on campus. I think we shouldn’t ban AI completely.AI has both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it can help us study, such as checking grammar and getting ideas. On the other hand, some students may use it to cheat or become too lazy to think. So schools should make clear rules. For example, we can use AI after class for learning support, but not in exams. Teachers should guide us to use it properly. Schools can also teach us about academic integrity and how to check AI information. What’s your opinion? Looking forward to your reply. Yours, Li Hua 提升版(约125词) Dear Chris, Glad to hear from you. You mentioned that your school is discussing whether to ban students from using generative AI tools on campus. Personally, I’m in favor of a conditional approach rather than a complete ban. Admittedly, unrestricted use of AI may undermine independent thinking and encourage academic dishonesty. Some students might simply copy AI-generated answers without truly understanding the material. However, banning AI entirely is short-sighted, since these tools are becoming essential in study and work. Therefore, schools should set clear guidelines. AI can be allowed after class for brainstorming, grammar checks or personalized practice, but it must be forbidden in exams. Students should declare when AI is used in homework. Teachers should guide us to think critically, and schools can offer AI literacy courses. Parents can also help monitor use at home. In short, the key lies in using AI responsibly. What’s your school’s decision? Looking forward to your reply. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Paragraph 1: Without hesitation, Dr. Chiu rushed over to Pham immediately. He shouted at the crowd to keep back to secure enough room for rescue. Kneeling down, he quickly examined Pham and confirmed he had no pulse due to the severe heart attack. Without delay, he started performing CPR skillfully. Some people dialed 911 for an ambulance while others offered to block the sun for the patient. Sweating through his shirt, Dr. Chiu kept the first-aid movements steady, fully concentrating on bringing the unconscious runner back to life. The anxious crowd watched silently, praying for a miracle to happen. Paragraph 2: Minutes later, the ambulance arrived. Well-equipped medical workers hurried off the vehicle and took over the emergency treatment. After attaching professional medical devices to Pham, they carefully lifted him onto the stretcher (担架) and loaded him into the ambulance. Owing to Dr. Chiu’s instant and expert on-site rescue, Pham showed weak vital signs before transportation. Later, it was reported that Pham had recovered and was out of danger. People spoke highly of Dr. Chiu, for that brief stay enjoying ocean views accidentally made a life-saving difference. 词汇激活 行为类 ①大喊:shout at/yell at ②专注于:concentrate on/focus on 情绪类 ①焦虑的:anxious/worried/uneasy ②高度赞扬:speak highly of/sing high praise for/praise warmly 【点睛】【高分句型1】Kneeling down, he quickly examined Pham and confirmed he had no pulse due to the severe heart attack.
