Organic agriculture refers to a production method that avoids the use of genetic engineering, chemically synthesized pesticides, fertilisers and so on. With organic agriculture, environmental costs tend to be lower. What’s more, it also causes less soil and water pollution. However, organic agriculture requires upfront costs, and it is often difficult for farmers to carry out large-scale production independently. Additionally, it calls for more labour compared with conventional farming methods that rely on chemical aid. As far as I’m concerned, organic agriculture forbids farmers from spraying chemical pesticides on plants; instead, farmers use natural animal waste, which helps improve soil conditions.
