Yin Yuzhen is widely known in China as the “desert-control queen”. She is an inspiring pioneer who has spent more than forty years turning a terrible desert into green land in Inner Mongolia.
In 1985, at the age of 19, Yin moved there with her husband, Bai Wanxiang. The living conditions were terrible. Strong winds blew sand non-stop, and sand piles would often block their door. There were few trees and almost no shade (阴凉处). She once feared being trapped (受困于) with nobody to give a hand. Facing a shortage of food and water, many people believed the land was too difficult to change.
However, Yin refused to give in. She made up her mind to plant trees. She carried heavy young trees with simple tools. She learned how to protect the young plants from strong winds. The money helped Yin get better equipment (设备) and stronger young trees. Later, Sakolsky visited her home. Unluckily, they lost contact after he

Our brain helps us store and recall memories. Many people believe good memory is a gift only for a few lucky people. However, this is not true. Scientists have found that the hippocampus (海马体), an important part of our brain, plays a key role in building memories. Keeping our hippocampus active is very helpful for our study and daily life. It will stay important as we learn new things.
One example shows how we can protect the hippocampus and improve memory. Some students easily forget new words they learned. They read the words once and stop reviewing. Scientists give a useful suggestion: review the new information at a proper time. When we go over what we have learned, the hippocampus will keep working and make memories stronger. This simple method works well.
According to brain scientists, we will need a good memory more often in the future. To help people remember
