On April 19, 2026, in Beijing, a robot called “Lightning” finished a half marathon (半程马拉松) in just 50 minutes and 26 seconds — breaking the human world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds.
Many robots fell down on the ground and couldn’t get up again at the race last year. Only 6 teams out of the 20 finished the race. The winning robot took nearly 3 hours. This year, however, 47 teams completed the race and 4 made it in under an hour. “It is unbelievable that AI has come this far in such a short time,” said Chu Tianqi, a university student who watched the race.
So how did this happen? Robots faced different problems from humans during long runs — not tiredness, but too much heat and running out of power. Engineers made three key improvements to solve these. The most important was changing from air cooling to liquid cooling (液体降温), which allowed robots to keep running at full power. In addition, instead of being controlled by people far away, robots could now use autonomous navigation (自主导航) to read the road and make their own decisions. Being able to replace their battery (电池) without powering off also saved valuable time.
But why does it matter to have robots run a marathon? As an engineer Du Xiaodi said, “The marathon isn’t really about speed. It’s about pushing robotics technology beyond the lab and into places like factories, hospitals and stores. The marathon is just one step forward.”
26. How does the writer develop paragraph 1?
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving an example.

B. The number of teams that joined the race.
C. The progress robots made during the year.
D. The thoughts of university students on AI.
28. What does the underlined word “these” in paragraph 3 refer to?
①long runs ②tiredness ③too much heat ④running out of power
A. ①② B. ②③ C. ③④ D. ①④
29. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Robots will be used in more areas.
B. More robots will join the marathon.
C. Labs are the best place to test robots.
D. There will be fewer workers in factories.
30. What would be the best title for the passage?
A. Building Robots that Can Run B. The Winning Robot in 2026
C. Robots Racing into the Future D. The Cooling Systems of Robots

Have you ever wondered why teenagers often have strong mood changes? Why do you feel happy one minute and angry the next? In fact, these sudden feelings are not your fault, and they mainly depend on your brain.
During adolescence (青春期), your brain is going through a “system upgrade (升级)”. The part of the brain that controls feelings develops faster than the part that controls thinking and decision-making.
This means that teenagers often act with strong emotions before they can think reasonably. Hormones (荷尔蒙) also play a big role in this process. The levels of hormones change fast during these years, and they have a great influence on your mood. As a result, you may get upset more easily than before.
Besides, heavy pressure is a common reason. Teenagers often face stress from schoolwork and high expectations, which can easily lead to mood changes.
Another reason is that teenagers care more about what their friends think. You want to fit in and be accepted. This can cause stress and worry, especially when you feel like you don’t belong.
But there are many useful ways to deal with these emotional changes. First, you should understand that they’re normal, because almost everyone goes through this period. Second, talk to someone you trust, such as a parent, teacher or close friend. Sharing your true feelings can really help you feel better. Third, take part in activities that bring you joy, like your hobbies or outdoor sports. These activities can help you relax and manage your moods in a better way.
Remember, your brain is still developing. These emotional changes are temporary. As you get older and wiser, you will be better at controlling your emotions.
31. Why do teenagers have strong mood changes?
A. Because their brains are growing. B. Because their bodies are tiring.
C. Because they like outdoor sports. D. Because they trust their parents.
32. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A. Hormones influence teenagers’ mood. B. Pressure often causes mood changes.
C. Teenagers care about friends’ ideas. D. Parents don’t often have high standards.
33. What does the underlined word “temporary” mean in the last paragraph?
A. 持久的 B. 奇怪的 C. 暂时的 D. 危险的
34. What is the text mainly about?
A. The importance of physical health. B. The ways to make friends at school.
C. The difficulties of controlling emotions. D. The reasons for teenagers’ mood changes.
35. How does the writer organize this passage?
A. B.
C. D.

The Eye of the Sahara is one of the most amazing natural wonders on earth. It’s a special place in the desert of Mauritania, Africa. Looking from the sky, it looks like a huge, bright eye! It is as long as about 438 football fields. The Eye looks like a big round pizza with different coloured parts, which catches the eyes of lots of explorers and tourists every year.
How was it made? Millions of years ago, the ground under the sand started to rise up. Then, wind and rain slowly washed away the soft rocks, leaving the hard ones behind. Over time, these hard rocks made the beautiful circles we see today. From above, you can count about 20 circles. Each one has a different colour that comes from different kinds of rocks. The biggest circle is on the outside, with smaller ones inside. These colors show us how the earth changed little by little for millions of years.
But the Eye of the Sahara is in trouble. The desert is very dry, and sandstorms often blow over it. The sand can make the rocks difficult to see. Also, not many people know about this amazing place because it’s far from big cities. What’s worse, some tourists do not follow the rules and damage the old rocks with careless actions.
What can we do to help? Scientists are studying the Eye to find ways to protect the rocks from sand. Some people suggest building a small road or a simple visitor centre nearby. This way more tourists can come and see the Eye of the Sahara. Most importantly, tourists should follow visiting rules and avoid hurting the rock layers (层).
Let’s take small actions right now to guard this special “eye”, keeping this fantastic natural wonder alive forever.
36. Where is the Eye of the Sahara?
A. Near a big lake. B. On a high mountain.
C. In a big city in Asia. D. In a desert in Africa.
37. Which order correctly shows how the Eye of the Sahara was formed?
a. Wind and rain washed away soft rocks.
b. The ground under the sand rose up.
c. Hard rocks formed beautiful circles.
A. a-b-c. B. b-a-c. C. b-c-a. D. c-b-a.
38. What does the underlined word “damage” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Clean. B. Hide. C. Destroy. D. Draw.
39. What is the most important thing for tourists to do?
A. Follow rules and protect the rock layers.
B. Help build roads around the desert area.
C. Learn to study ways to protect the rocks.
D. Work to set up more new visitor centres.
40. What is the writer’s purpose in writing this passage?
A. To tell people how to travel around African deserts safely.

【解析】
【76题详解】
问句“how did you spend your weekend?”询问周末是怎么过的,时态为一般过去时。图片显示女孩在吹长笛。表达“吹长笛”用短语 play the flute(注意西洋乐器前需加定冠词 the)。结合问句时态,主语用 I,动词用过去式 played,故作答I played the flute。
【77题详解】
答句“She has a fever.”意为“她发烧了”,图片中女孩(右下角标注名字为Nancy)躺在床上量体温。因此问句需要询问“Nancy/她怎么了?”。英语中询问某人怎么了/生什么病了,常用的固定句型是What’s wrong with sb.或 What’s the matter with sb.,故作答What’s wrong with Nancy/What’s the matter with Nancy。
【78题详解】
问句“How did Tom hurt himself?”询问汤姆是怎么受伤的,时态为一般过去时。图片显示一个男孩从自行车上摔了下来。表达“从自行车上摔下来”用动词短语fell off his/the bike。“伤了自己”用hurt himself。主语是He,动词fall需要变为过去式fell,故作答He fell off his/the bike/He hurt himself when he fell off his/the bike。
【79题详解】
答句“It is Mount Qomolangma, it is 8848.86 meters high.”提供了山峰的名称(珠穆朗玛峰)和具体高度。结合地理常识和答语结构,最合理的问句是询问“世界上最高的山是什么?”,这样回答名称和高度才显得自然。故作答 What’s the highest mountain in the world。
【80题详解】
问句“what should I do?”是在寻求建议(我该怎么办?)。图片显示两个人在通电话,其中一人在说“对不起”。给别人提建议通常用“You should/can/could...”句型。根据图片内容,建议应该是“你应该/可以给他/你的朋友打电话(并)道歉”。“打电话”可以用 call sb.,“他”him,也可以说“你朋友”your friend;“说对不起”用say sorry,故作答You should/could/can call him/your friend and/to say sorry。
