The Gatangpa Festival is the traditional New Year of the Hani people in Xishuangbanna. In the Hani language, “Gatang” has two   1   (interpret): one refers to the start of the annual cycle,   2    (know) as the “Gatang Era”; the   3   means renewal of all things, marking the arrival of a new year.
