Although it is easy to operate, students should not step onto it without reading the safety label first. The machine should be used only after basic instruction. If you feel faint, dizzy or in pain during exercise, stop at once and tell the teacher or fitness room staff. ★Treadmill Quick Guide STAGE WHAT TO DO Before starting Stand on the two top steps located on each side of the running belt. The line should be free of knots and long enough for you to work out comfortably with the key in place. If you move too far back, the key can be pulled out of the console (控制台) and the treadmill will stop. After exercise, students should leave the treadmill clean and safe for the next user. These gentle, lovely gatekeepers welcomed her and kick-started what was to be a trip Ginni would never forget. Ever since her childhood, Ginni, now 71, has had a deep love for travel. Throughout her career as a professional dancer, she toured in the UK, but always longed to explore further. When she retired from dancing and her sons eventually flew the nest, she decided it was time to take the plunge. After taking a degree at Chichester University in Related Arts, Ginni began to travel the world, eventually getting work teaching English in Japan and Chile. And it was in Chile she discovered she could get last-minute cheap deals on ships going to Antarctica from the islands off Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost tip of the South American mainland. “I just decided I wanted to go,” she says. “I had no idea about what I’d find there and I wasn’t nervous, I just wanted to do it. And I wanted to do it alone as I always prefer it that way.” In March 2008, Ginni boarded a ship with 48 passengers she’d never met before, to begin the journey towards Antarctica. “From seeing the wildlife to witnessing sunrises, the whole experience was amazing. Antarctica left an impression on me that no other place has,” Ginni says. “I remember the first time I saw a humpback whale; it just rose out of the water like some prehistoric creature and I thought it was smiling at us. You could still hear the operatic sounds it was making underwater.” The realization that this is a precious land, to be respected by humans, was one of the biggest things that hit home to Ginni. 24. Which of the following best explains “take the plunge” underlined in paragraph 2? A. Try challenging things. B. Take a degree. C. Bring back lost memories. D. Stick to a promise. 25. What made Ginni decide on the trip to Antarctica? A. Lovely penguins. B. Beautiful scenery. C. A discount fare. D. A friend’s invitation. 26. What does Ginni think about Antarctica after the journey? A. It could be a home for her. B. It should be easily accessible. C. It should be well preserved. D. It needs to be fully introduced. 27. What is the text mainly about? A. A childhood dream. B. An unforgettable experience. C. Sailing around the world. D. Meeting animals in Antarctica. C When danger approaches, many creatures seem to follow the ancient saying that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Researchers have recently been finding complex ways that animals communicate with other species in such situations. For example, a recent study in Nature Ecology & Evolution documented more than 20 bird species on four continents that give off virtually identical “whining” calls when they spot brood parasites (巢寄生物) such as cuckoos. That call is essentially “the word for ‘cuckoo,’ ” says study co-lead author James Kennerley, a wildlife biologist at Cornell University. “And it’s rounding up individuals to come together against this common enemy.” Brood parasites lay eggs in other birds’ nests, tricking the host parents into raising their chicks for them. At a field site in Australia, Kennerley has witnessed individuals from a dozen or more species attack a cuckoo in response to a chorus of whining calls. These attacks can be so violent that Kennerley and his coworkers need to cage the cuckoo used in their experiments to protect it. Many birds also share a common vocabulary for predators (捕食者). Research by wildlife ecologist Erick Greene, a professor at the University of Montana, and others shows that various songbirds produce recognizable “seet” calls to alert others to an eagle in flight. The calls are at a frequency too high for eagles to detect well, so the predators remain oblivious as information about their arrival shoots through the forest. If the eagle stops on a branch, songbirds switch to “mobbing” calls, a distinct vocalization that, as Greene puts it, “draws in the other birds to drive that eagle off.” Cooperative defense is not the only reason for cross-species communication. Among other things, it may help birds enhance food intake. A recent study found that when seabirds with good vision, such as albatrosses, hunt with seabirds with strong senses of smell, such as petrels, they both have far greater success at catching small shellfish. Clearly, “information is constantly traded between different kinds of animals, which is a fundamental ecological phenomenon,” Greene says. “It can be life-saving.” 28. What is the main purpose of birds’ “whining” calls? A. To attract female mates. B. To defend their own nests. C. To indicate food sources. D. To signal their newborns. 29. What does the underlined word “oblivious” in paragraph 4 probably mean? A. Unbearable. B. Unconcerned. C. Unaware. D. Uncertain. 30. Why do seabirds like albatrosses and petrels cooperate? A. They try to improve feeding efficiency. B. They defend against common predators. C. They need to establish a shared territory. D. They learn hunting skills from each other. 31. What do Greene’s words in the last paragraph stress? A. The diversity of ecological phenomena. B. The rareness of multispecies cooperation. C. The variety of cross-species interactions. D. The significance of interspecies communication. D When Brandon Contino and co-founder Dan Chi were developing Four Growers’ produce-harvesting robots, they practically lived in a greenhouse for an entire year. “We actually started just running everything off a laptop, and I would be there in the row coding. Chi would be making changes mechanically,” Contino, now CEO, told TechCrunch. The result was Four Growers, which builds robots designed to autonomously harvest plants in greenhouses. The robots are programmed to identify produce at the right level of ripeness — which varies depending on a farmer’s needs — by using multiple stereo cameras to see the crops and help operate the robot’s arms to avoid nonripe fruit on the vine. The tech currently works with tomatoes and will be commercially available to harvest other crops like cucumbers in the near future. Having enough labor to harvest crops is crucial because if crops can’t be harvested when they are ready, they rot and result in lost profits for the farm. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s 2024 labor report said the industry is facing a “critical shortage” of workers, and it won’t get better anytime soon. Contino said they were intentional about focusing on greenhouse farms. Unlike outdoor farms, greenhouses can grow almost all year round, and are more efficient than outside farms. They also harvest on a much more frequent schedule than outdoor farms, which makes them a good candidate to buy tech. Four Growers now works with five customers, and its robots have picked millions of tomatoes. Contino said that the company is working to expand its technology beyond just harvesting and is looking to expand into outdoor farms in the coming years. “It’s not really a labor replacement. It’s more of an augmentation(增强),” Contino said. “As the labor force shrinks, and there are fewer people willing to do it, it’s putting them to more comfortable positions and allowing one person to be able to do a lot more.” 32. What are the cameras used to do in the greenhouse? A. Identify crops’ growing condition. B. Take pictures for the ripe fruit. C. Monitor the surroundings. D. Distinguish tomatoes from other plants. 33. Why does the author mention the 2024 labor report in paragraph 3? A. To express concern about the farm profits. B. To stress the necessity of harvesting robots. C. To show the achievements of Four Growers. D. To call for public support for the farm industry. 34. According to Contino, what makes greenhouse farms a better target for Four Growers? A. A wider range of crops. B. Greener than outside farms. C. A greater number of consumers. D. Higher harvesting frequency. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Autonomous Tech is Coming to Farming B. Seed for a Farm’s Future — Farm Management C. Four Growers Robots Help Greenhouse Harvest D. Labor Shortages and Farmer Adaptation Strategies 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 As an enthusiastic reader, I’ve always believed that the key to understanding the world lies in the pages of a book. 36 They introduce us to characters who feel as real as the people around us. This connection between readers and the text is what makes literature so powerful, and it’s why I value my personal library. It’s a collection that reflects my journey through the world of words. My library is not vast, but each book is carefully chosen. I have a mix of types in my collection, ranging from classic literature to contemporary fiction(当代小说). 37 Each type offers a different perspective, a new way of looking at life. While some books challenge my thinking, others provide comfort during difficult times. It is important to have a balance. A well-organized library is like a well-balanced diet for the mind. Among my favourites are the works of Jane Austen and George Orwell. Austen’s sharp observations on society and relationships are timeless. Her characters are imperfect yet charming. Orwell, on the other hand, offers a stark (冷峻的) view of the world. 38 Both authors, though different in style, have taught me invaluable lessons about humanity. 39 Biographies (传记) and life stories offer insights into the lives of extraordinary individuals. They remind us that greatness comes in many forms. Reading about the struggles and successes of others can be incredibly inspiring. It’s a reminder that we all have the potential to make a difference. These stories encourage me to reflect on my own life and what I wish to leave behind. My library is a reflection of who I am. It’s a sign of my love of learning and my desire to understand the world. Each book is a stepping stone on my journey of discovery. They are companions in loneliness and guides in times of uncertainty. 40 . A. I also enjoy non-fiction. B. I believe in the power of variety. C. My library goes beyond a collection of books. D. His stories are a warning and a call to action. E. Through them, I continue to explore, to grow, and to dream. F. The stories we read shape our world view and broaden our minds. G. Historical fiction, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中,选出最佳选项。 Years ago, as a shy and uncertain post-graduate, I took a fine job but felt like wearing ill-fitting shoes. One key 47 was writing “morning pages” — no stopping and no editing for at least three full pages. It felt like writing nonsense at first. But as I 48 , it helped me realize I shouldn’t have used excuses to 49 a dance class or job opportunity. I found I was afraid of any 50 . Another practice was “artist dates” — solo activities to inspire fun. Cameron emphasized that 51 our limiting beliefs was only half the battle; we must also 52 seek joy. So, I invited 53 pleasures: baking cookies, collecting fallen flowers, etc. I even rented a car and drove to a coastal town. At sunset, I’d roll down my car window, sing loudly and 54 the pink sky. Joy entered my serious life. A year later, I quitted my job and 55 one in a creative field. It took three more years to dance on stage. As for publishing short stories, perhaps next summer. 41. As the “China Travel” trend continues, 59 growing number of international tourists are heading to the country for tech-focused tours. In the 60 (one) quarter of 2026, the country recorded 8.32 million visa-free entries by foreign nationals, up 29.3 percent year on year. Shenzhen’s Huaqiangbei, one of the world’s largest electronic markets, 62 attracts tech enthusiasts from around the globe, has become a popular destination. Mark looked down at his paint-covered clothes and the paint on the floor. His face turned bright red, and he whispered, “I’m sorry, Mr. Thompson. I was trying to mix the perfect shade of ocean-blue for my seascape painting, but I accidentally knocked over the paint bottle.” The students around him laughed quietly, and Mark felt a lump form in his throat(喉咙哽咽). It was the school’s annual art exhibition coming up, and this painting was his entry. Now, not only was his work destroyed, but he had also made a huge mess in the art room. Mr. Thompson sighed, “Clean this up immediately, Mark. And I hope you can fix your painting before the deadline. Remember what we learned about color theory last week—sometimes unexpected combinations lead to the most beautiful results.” With his head hung low, Mark cleaned the floor. When he finally sat back down to continue with his painting, he realized that most of the blue paint was gone, and the canvas(画布) was dirty. The once-promising seascape now looked like a mess. Mark bit his lip, his eyes welling up with tears. He glanced around the room, seeing his classmates focused on their nearly-finished masterpieces. Just then, the school bell rang, signaling the end of the art class. Mark slowly packed his things. As he walked out of the art room, the gray sky outside seemed to mirror his mood. A light rain started to fall, and Mark pulled up his hood(风帽), not caring that the raindrops were making dark spots on his already-stained clothes. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t notice his best friend, Alex, walking beside him. “Hey, Mark, what’s wrong?” Alex asked, with an expression of concern on his face. Mark told him everything. “I spent hours trying to get that perfect blue for the ocean waves,” Mark sighed. “Without it, my whole painting is ruined.” Alex patted him on the back and said, “Don’t worry, we’ll figure it out. Let’s go to the art supply room and see if there’s any blue paint left.” 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Upon entering the supply room, Mark felt his heart drop. ______________ ___________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________ Two days later, Mark stood nervously beside his reborn painting at the exhibition. __________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________ 2025级高二年级上学期10月阶段性考试英语试卷答案 听力:1—5 BBAAB 6—10 CACBA 11—15 CABAC 16—20 BACCB 阅读理解:21—23 ACD 24—27 ACCB 28—31 BCAD 32—35 ABDC 36—40 FBDAE 完形填空:41—45 ADBCB 46—50 CDACA 51—55 BCDAB 语法填空: 56. delivering 57. made 58. from 59. a 60. first 61. growingly 62. which 63. filmed 64. how 65. innovation 应用文: 范文: Good morning, everyone! I'm Li Hua. It's a great honor to be invited to share my thoughts on effective communication with you. From my experience in group work and daily life, I'd like to share three effective tips. First, know your audience. Before speaking, try to learn about the listener's background and needs so that your words truly reach them. Second, use body language wisely. A smile or proper eye contact can bridge gaps and build trust. Third, learn to empathize. Putting yourself in others' shoes helps you listen and reply with real care. Good communication, I think, begins with a sincere heart. That’s all! Thank you! 读后续写: 范文: Upon entering the supply room, Mark felt his heart drop. There was hardly any blue paint left on the shelf. Disappointed, he almost gave up his exhibition dream. Seeing Mark's hopeless look, Alex bent over and began to hunt through every drawer and corner. He collected every little bit of leftover paint for Mark. Suddenly, Mr. Thompson's words rang in Mark's mind--unexpected combinations could create beauty. An idea flashed across his mind. He mixed the remaining small amounts of green, purple and white paint together. To his surprise, he got a special blue-grey color, just like the sea under rainy clouds. Inspired, he rushed home and redid his seascape with this new color. Two days later, Mark stood nervously beside his reborn painting at the exhibition. Many visitors stopped to admire his unique seascape, praising its special ocean color. Mr. Thompson walked over with a big smile, telling Mark this work was far more impressive than his original plan. Mark's eyes sparkled with pride as he looked at the waves on the canvas. He realized accidents were not always bad. Sometimes misfortune could open a door to unexpected beauty, as long as you refused to give up. 听力原文 Text 1 M: The man is very famous in Europe, right? W: Yes, but actually his songs and TV series are not so good. M: That’s true. I once watched one of his TV series; it’s really boring. Text 2 W: Hi there, we’ re organizing a neighborhood clean-up this weekend. Are you interested in joining us? M: Sounds good! What time should I be there? W: You can choose from 9 a. m., 1 p. m., or 3 p. m. Each one lasts about two hours. M: I’ll go with 9 a. m. Text 3 W: You look pale, Peter. Are you worried about the results of your exams? M: Not really. I’ve been staying up too late these days to work on my graduation paper. I think I really need a good rest to deal with this headache. Text 4 W: How does this business idea work? M: It’s simple. We buy a pen for five dollars and sell it for eight dollars. We can pocket the difference. W: Great. Text 5 M: How many books am I allowed to check out at once? W: You can have up to five books at one time. When you’ re ready to check out, I’ll give you a hand. Text 6 W: I’ve started trying a plant-based diet recently. I sleep better now and feel more energetic. M: I don’t think I can give up meat, but I’ve been trying to quit sugar. W: Nice. I love sweets and processed snacks like chips, although I know they are harmful to our health. M: Anyway, we should develop healthier eating habits. W: Maybe we could share our tips with each other along the way. M: Great idea! Text 7 W: Hello, I’m calling to ask when I can get my food. I’m in Apartment 101. It’s 7:30 p. m. now. M: I’m very sorry to keep you waiting. I promise to deliver it to you by 8:10 p. m. W: What? Were you falling asleep on the way? M: Of course not. I just met an old lady who got hit by a car and I took her to the hospital. W: Hmm…… Now I know why you kept me waiting. You’ re such a warm-hearted person. M: I’m terribly sorry again. Thanks for your patience. Text 8 M: Hi Lydia, you studied in Milan for three years. How did you find the place? W: Well, I love it. The food, people and everything else are great. M: Next month I’m traveling to Milan to meet some important customers. Do you have any suggestions about what to see when I’m there? W: There are lots of places I could suggest. How long will you be there? M: Well, the first four days is scheduled for business meetings, and only the last day is for myself. W: In that case, I think you should try a group bus tour. It’s an excellent way to see all the main attractions in the city in a short amount of time. M: Good idea. Do you have more information about it, like how much it costs and what time it starts? W: If you visit their official tourism website, you’ ll find all the information you need. M: OK. I will go to check it. Text 9 W: Many people put on weight due to the lack of exercise. Perhaps their only activity is playing with their phones. M: I couldn’t agree more. Are you fond of sports? W: Personally, I am really interested in golf, which I think not only improves my strength, but also my confidence. When I score, I have a great sense of achievement. What about you, Frank? M: I’m crazy about sports, such as badminton, jogging, and table tennis. Badminton left an impression on me, because my father was a badminton player and he started to teach me when I was 5. Also, in order to keep healthy and reduce stress, I started playing basketball. I found it really relaxing. W: Cool, you seem to be quite a master of sports. M: Well, life lies in exercise. Hopefully, I can become a professional player like LeBron James one day. W: As far as I’m concerned, I can further develop my golf skills. M: I happen to know a few tricks. Maybe I can teach you some if you don’t mind. W: Sure. There is a golf course near here. And after that, we can try the new Italian restaurant by our company. M: OK. Let’s go. Text 10 M: Good morning, students. I have an important announcement to make. Our school is going to hold a “Green Campus” competition next month. The main purpose of this competition is to encourage everyone to think about how to make our campus more environmentally friendly. You can share your ideas in the form of a poster, an essay, or a short video. To join in the competition, you need to fill out an application form and hand it in to the student office by Friday next week. There is no need to pay a fee, and a recommendation letter is not required. The winner will get a study tour to a national nature park during the winter vacation. We hope all of you can take part in this meaningful activity. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
