阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

There are so many websites to help you plan trips and book trips and save money on trips. Here is a selection of 4 you should consider bookmarking (收藏).
Dishtip. com
If I had to pick just one site to help with restaurant information around the world, it would be Chowhound. com. However, Dishtip. com organizes the world of eating out in the United States in a totally new way: By turkey sandwich or blueberry pie. In other words, by single dish, not by restaurant.
Stay. com
I’m generally doubtful of sites that say they can plan your trips for you. But for a quick information collection, Stay. com is not bad at all.
Here’s what you do: Choose one destination. Then go through the list of top attractions, museums and the like. Click on whatever you want. Those choices will turn into a personalized plan that can be either printed out or sent to your smartphone with an online city map.
Skypicker. com
Skypicker seems like the “explore” page of Kayak. com, but just provides flights within Europe, at very, very cheap price.
I once booked a $48 round trip between Ryanair and Nimes in the south of France at Skypicker. com. When I actually went to Ryanair to book, the cost was $55. think the final cost might be a bit more. But still, a good deal.
Vayama. com
Vayama is a flight search engine that specializes in international travels. It sometimes gives you a lower price on a “secret carrier” whose name and exact cost you don’t know until you’ve actually your ticket.
21. Which website should you go to find the general information about a restaurant?
A. Chowhound. com. B. Dishtip. com. C. Kayak. com. D. Stay. com.
22. The Stay. com will provide its visitors with ________.
A. a reliable trip plan B. useful information for their trip planning
C. an off-line guide D. printed and personalized schedules
23. How is Vayama. com different from Skypicker. com?
A. It sells tickets at much lower prices. B. It does not show the exact ticket prices.
C. It only lists flights operating within Europe. D. It just provides flights for international travels.

Chinese Paper Cutting or Jianzhi is the first type of paper-cutting design, since paper was invented in the Eastern Han Dynasty in China.
It’s a wonderful art of Chinese handcrafts. The art form later spread to other parts of the world. After hundreds of years’ development, now they have become a very popular means of decoration. The paper-cuts are also used to decorate doors and windows, and therefore they are sometimes referred to as “chuang hua”, meaning Window Flower. Paper-cuts are chiefly used as decorations. However, today, Chinese paper-cuts are also used for religious and ceremonial purposes, and they’re buried with the dead and burned at funerals.
Chinese people believe the red paper-cuts on the door can bring good luck and happiness to the whole family. The paper-cuts are more often seen during traditional Chinese festivals, particularly in Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival. They are also given as gifts to friends or other family members.
Paper-cuttings aren’t produced by machine, but by hand. There are two methods of manufacture: one uses scissors, the other uses knives. The advantage of knife-cuttings is that considerably more paper cuttings can be made in one operation than with scissor cuttings.
It’s easy to learn about cutting a piece of paper but difficult to master it with perfection. One must hold the knife in an upright fashion and press evenly (均匀地) on the paper with some strength. Flexibility is required but any hesitation will damage the whole image.
People find hope and comfort in expressing wishes with paper-cuttings. For instance: for a wedding ceremony, red paper- cuttings are a traditional decoration on the tea set, the dressing table glass, and on other furniture. A big red paper character “XI” (happiness) is a traditional must on the newly-wed’s (新婚夫妇) door.
24. What can we learn from the second paragraph?
A. Paper-cuts are mainly used as presents.
B. Women are better at paper cutting than men.
C. Paper-cutting varies from area to area.
D. paper-cuts are used in various ceremonies and funerals.
25. Why the paper cuts can be seen during the traditional Chinese festivals?
A. Because people believe the red paper-cuts can bring good luck and happiness.
B. Because people believe they are made by hand.
C. Because people believe they are the gifts given by friends.
D. Because people believe they are easy to learn.
26. How does the author develop the last paragraph?
A. By analyzing cause B. By making comparisons.
C. By using examples D. By describing processes
27. Which of the following statement is NOT TRUE?
A. Paper-cuts can be made by knives and scissors.
B. Paper-cuts are only used as decorations.
C. Hesitation is terrible when paper-cuts made.
D. More paper-cuttings can be made in one operation when someone uses a knife.

Ancient Dunhuang manuscripts housed abroad have been edited and published by the Institute for Overseas National Literature of Northwest Minzu University since 2006. Up till now, 9 manuscripts kept in the British Library and 22 in the National Library of France have been finished, the institute said on April 24, 2018.
Tens of thousands of valuable ancient documents and cultural relics, discovered in the Mogao Grottos in Dunhuang, Gansu province, were scattered overseas in the early 20th century. Dunhuang manuscripts currently in the British Library and the National Library of France are the most important ancient national documents housed abroad.
Co-edited by Institute for Overseas National Literature of Northwest Minzu University, Shanghai Classics Publishing House, the British Library and the National Library of France, these Dunhuang manuscripts return home in publication form for the first time. According to Cai Rang, associate director of the institute, Dunhuang manuscripts scattered overseas in Russia, Britain, France and Japan have rich contents, including Buddhism law, social contract, history, linguistics and art. The institute has edited and published 31 manuscripts over the past 13 years, but the work has not been finished. It plans to publish 15 from the British Library and over 30 from the National Library of France all together. In addition, it will also publish manuscripts collected by other countries.
“Some manuscripts are hard to read because of the indecipherable words. So we read carefully and understand them by comparing with Buddhism documents handed down from ancient times,” Cai said. “Next, document classification and compilation will be our key work for further research.”
The work done by the institute is helpful to study the history and culture of Tubo (present-day Xizang) during the period of 8th to 11th century and the history of national cultural exchanges at that time.

A. By using modern technology.

Worried retailers are increasingly frustrated by people they dub “fit-lifters” who use stores to find the best-fitting shoes before buying them online at a lower price. If the shoes fit, but you don’t buy it, you could soon be tarred with the same brush as shoplifters by shoe store owners.
Bricks-and-mortar shops have higher salary and rental costs than Internet rivals and store owners say some online buyers are free-riding on their resources “You’ve come in and stolen that service basically,” said Richard Napier of Idaho Mountain Trading, an outdoor sports store in Idaho Falls, who calls fit-lifting unethical.
“It’s not that the salesperson didn’t have somebody else to serve who would have bought something. So not only have you stolen the wages. I have a loss of revenue that he would have collected from another customer.”
It is common for online shoppers to research products in stores in other retail sectors such as bookselling — a practice named “showrooming” — and smartphones make it possible to buy online even while still in a store. But the trend is particularly contentious in footwear because staff spend so much time fetching boxes and advising customers on comfort.
Tensions have been heightened by the price advantage that e-commerce gains from the fact that many online shoppers do not have to pay state and local sales tax, which add between 5 and 10 percent.
Following years of lobbying by bricks-and-mortar stores, the US Senate is expected to pass a bill that would help end tax-free online shopping. But it still faces opposition in the House of Representatives.
Gary Weiner, owner of Saxon Shoes in Virginia and a board member of the National Shoe Retailers Association in the US, said shoe-sellers were “very concerned” about fit-lifting. “We also hear ‘My mother sent me in to get my size fitted so she can buy them online.’ those exact words,” he said. “We’re a polite people. So we give them the time of day.” Asked if he had considered refusing, he said, “We think about it every single time. Do we say it? No. You can’t say it out loud.”
Zappos, an online shoe-seller owned by Amazon, encourages shoppers to order two or more different sizes, which they can return for free, in an effort to overcome customer reluctance to buy without trying.
32. The underlined phrase in Paragraph 1 probably means ________.
A. be subject to the same deception B. be labelled in terms of creativity
C. be regarded as having the same faults D. be persuaded to buy a discounted product
33. What is the disadvantage of brick-and-mortar shops?
A. Freeriding resources B. High labor cost
C. Consumer rental cost D. Packed working schedule
34. What can we infer from the passage?
A. Shoe sellers are annoyed at customers’ lengthy consultation.
B. A bill to impose sales tax on Internet goods has passed after the appeal.
C. Online stores like Zappos allowed customers to avoid shipping charge.
D. Harmless as showrooming seems, it hurts retailers financially and emotionally.
35. Which of the following might be the best title of the passage?
A. Fit-lifters in Brick-and-Mortar Stores
B. The Gradual Development of “Showrooming”
C. Tension between Physical and Online Retailers
D. Retailing Salespersons Fought against Fit-lifters

67.(满分25分)阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Jenny was the only child in her home. She had a quarrel (争吵) with her mother that afternoon and she ran out of the house angrily. She couldn’t help crying sadly when she thought of the angry words from her mother. After she walked aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt hungry but had no money. She stood in front of a shop which sold noodles for several minutes, but she had to leave. The seller of the noodle shop came out and noticed the young girl.
“Hey, girl, you want to have noodles?”
“Oh, yes, but I have no money on me,” she replied.
“Oh, that’s nothing. I’ll treat you today,” the owner said, “come in.”
The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so attractive. As she was eating, Jenny cried silently.
“What is it?” asked the man kindly.
“Nothing, actually I was just touched by your kindness!” said Jenny as she wiped her tears. “Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so merciless compared to a stranger!”
Hearing the words, the seller smiled, “Girl, do you really think so? I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you number the times she cooked for you? Have you expressed your thanks to her?”
Jenny sat there, speechless and numb with shock. She remembered mother’s familiar face and weathered hands. “Why did I not think of that? A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel indebted (感激的), but I have never thanked my mum for what she has done for me.”
On the way home, Jenny made up her mind to say sorry to her mother for her rudeness as soon as she arrived home.

66. A lively discussion was held in our class about whether it is better to employ self-study or teamwork study. There are different opinions among students concerning this topic.
55% of them are in favour of self-study, because they believe that it can avoid interruptions from others. Besides, it can develop their ability to think independently and they will have a greater sense of achievement if they are successful.
However, 45% of them think that teamwork study can help create a more enjoyable learning atmosphere and develop the spirit of cooperation.
As far as I’m concerned, both of them have their advantages and disadvantages, so individuals should choose the learning style that they find most suitable.
67.
Approaching the doorway, Jenny took a deep breath. When she knocked at the door, she found the door was knocked and her mother was not in. Tired and sad, she sat down in front of the house. “Where would my mother be?” she wondered. “Was she still angry with me?” Again, the scene of the quarrel appeared in her mind. She remembered her rudeness to her mother. Realizing that all the scolding from her mother was due to the fact that her mother really cared a lot about her, she felt rather ashamed, and tears began to roll down her cheeks.
A gentle touch on her hair called her mind back. She raised her head and saw the familiar face of her mother. “Here you come! I’ve been looking for you,” she said, tired and relieved. Jenny couldn’t help throwing herself into her mother’s arms. “Mum, I’m so sorry and thank you for what you have done for me.” She expressed her sincere apology and great gratitude. Hearing this, her mother smiled, patting her back gently.

【原文】M: Hi, Margie, are you going to travel with your family this summer?
W: No, I’m going to a summer camp for a month. How do you spend your summer holiday?
M: I’ll go to the countryside and climb mountains with my parents.
2.
【原文】M: Mom, I’ve got an email from Karen. She wants me to spend the weekend with her family.
W: But we’re visiting your grandparents this weekend.
M: Oh, I almost forgot about it. Then I’ll explain to her.
3.
【原文】W: Oh, no, I’m afraid we’ll miss the beginning of the lecture.
M: Don’t worry. We won’t. The lecture starts at 9: 00. Look at the clock. It’s only 8:40.
W: But our clock is 15 minutes slow.
4.
【原文】M: Do you think it would be possible for me to get next Thursday off?
W: Is it an emergency?
M: Not really, my parents are coming into town and I hope to play golf with my father that day.
5.
【原文】M: I can’t believe I’ll have to spend the whole weekend working on this paper.
W: Yeah, it’s pretty tight.
M: Maybe you could write mine for me, too.
W: Not a chance. You won’t learn anything if you don’t do your own work.
6. 7.
【原文】W: Slow down, Adam. You’re driving like a mad man.
M: I told Greta I would pick her up at 9:45 am. Her plane lands at 9:20 am.
W: Relax. It’s just 9 o’clock now. There’s plenty of time.
M: I suppose so.
W: Did you have breakfast yet?
M: No. I jumped out of bed this morning and ran out of the front door. I didn’t have time to eat. W: I’ve got an apple in my bag, if you want it.
M: Have you got anything else?
W: Pens, pencils, a notebook… but nothing to eat. Just the apple, I’m afraid.
M: I’ll pick something up at the airport.
W: Are you crazy? Food is always ten times more expensive at the airport.
8. 9.
【原文】W: So here are your four tickets, sir. Is there anything else I can do for you?
M: Yes. I was wondering if I could get regular information about what’s on.
W: Certainly. I can add your name to our mailing list. Would that be OK?
M: That would be very good. Yes, please. Oh, and there is something else, sorry. One of our group is hard of hearing and I’ve heard that you can supply special headphones.
W: That’s right. As long as you tell us in advance, we can always do that. I’ll book those for you now, and you can just collect hem here tomorrow before the show.
M: Thanks very much for your help.
W: No problem.
10. 11. 12.
【原文】W: I think it’s very important to relax because if you don’t you can get too stressed. What do you think?
M: Yes, I think so. Once I even got ill because Iwas too stressed out studying for exams! But what do you do to relax?
W: Well, sometimes Igo to my room and lie down and listen to my favorite music, or read a book. What about you?
M: If I want to relax I often play computer games.
W: I don’t think computer games are relaxing — they can be so exciting and then it’s difficult to stop playing.
M: It’s not a problem for me. It’s good fun. I sometimes play until midnight.
W: Really? It’s too bad for your health. You’d better not stay up for it again. Going out is a better way. I sometimes like to take my dog for a long walk in the country or a park. That makes me feel healthy and relaxed.
M: I agree with you.

【原文】M: Do you want to go for coffee?
W: Great idea, but I can’t. I have to return my library books.
M: I’ve never had a library card. How do I get one?
W: You just go to any public library and fill out a form.
M: That’s it?
W:Not quite. You’ll need some ID, like your medical card, or a phone bill — anything with your name and address on it.
M: Hey, what if I go with you? Do you think I can get a library card today?
W: Sure. You just have to fill out the form.
M: Oh, but I don’t have a lot of money with me. How much does it cost?
W: Nothing, if you live in Winnipeg.
M: The price is right! Let’s go!
W: OK. Here, help me carry my books.
M: Wow, that’s a lot of books. How many can you borrow?
W: Up to 50 books at a time.
M: Really?
W: Yeah. Just don’t be late returning them or you’ll have to pay a fine.
