Unit 5 Power of Ideas — Lesson 2 Section A 2a-2d教学设计
Objectives:
Language Ability:
1. Ss can master key vocabulary and phrases such as printer, produce, plastic, file, design, create, build up, and everyday objects.
2. Ss can understand the detailed information about the 3D printer (its functions, working process, and materials) from the listening material.
3. Ss can use the passive voice (is/are done, can be done) to describe how an invention works and what it is used for.
Learning Ability:
4. Ss can use listening strategies to predict key words and catch action verbs to complete the working process of the 3D printer.
5. Ss can use a flow chart to organize and retell the working process logically.
Thinking Quality:
6. Ss can analyze the future development of 3D printers and think critically about how inventions change our lives.
7. Ss can evaluate the importance of everyday inventions and express their personal preferences with reasons.

Cultural Awareness:
8. Ss can appreciate the power of technological innovation and understand how human creativity improves our quality of life.
Key and Difficult Points:
Key point
Ss can extract the specific information about the 3D printer from the listening material and master the target vocabulary and passive voice structures.
Difficult point
Ss can accurately describe the working process of a 3D printer using the passive voice and logical transitional words (first, then, next, finally) in oral communication.
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Lead-in & Review
1). Review the contents of the last lesson: Ask Ss to fill in the blanks about "Super See" and "Smart Cook" to review their functions and features.

2). Play a short video about a 3D printer. Ask Ss: What's the invention in the video? What do you want to know about it?
3). Guide Ss to summarize the dimensions we can use to describe an invention (Name, Place of origin, Appearance, Usage, How it works, Advantages, Feelings).
4). Purpose: To review prior knowledge, introduce the new topic (3D printer), and provide a clear framework for describing inventions.
Step 2: Pre-listening (Activity 2a)
1). Activity 2a: Ask Ss to look at the list (medicine, hearts, tables, computers, chairs, arms and legs, toys, shoes, houses, food) and tick the things they think a 3D printer can make.
2). Encourage Ss to add more items to the list.
3). Guide Ss to predict: How does the 3D printer work?
4). Purpose: To activate students' background knowledge about 3D printing and develop prediction skills.
Step 3: While-listening (Activity 2b & 2c)
1). 1st listening (Activity 2b): Let Ss listen to the conversation between Ella and Han Lin and answer the questions:
- Where did Han Lin go last weekend? (The International Exhibition of Inventions).
