Before we head out to the Coastal Wetland Reserve, let me go over a few things about today’s field trip. First, about your equipment. Our school will provide telescopes for each pair of you, so you don’t have to bring your own. Please wear long sleeves. The grass out there has many insects. Covering your skin is more important than looking good. Second, the rules. Stay on the marked path at all times. Many rare birds live in the wetland, and stepping off the path may destroy their nests. Now, what if you get separated from your group? Stay exactly where you are and don’t walk around. Each of you has a whistle, so just blow it every few minutes and I’ll come looking for you. One more thing, the goal of this trip is careful observation. If you finish observing one area before the others, don’t move on. Wait at the marked spots and record more details instead. Any questions? No? All right. Let’s have a safe and rewarding day. A If you are looking for the best documentaries for kids to watch, this article is for you. There are definite benefits to living where I grew up, and I know I’m fortunate to have the option. I love our quiet, tree-lined neighborhood and having access to a spacious kitchen. My only real dissatisfaction was that my bedroom never felt entirely like mine. Until recently, it was filled with large and heavy hand-me-down furniture that my parents were far more attached to than I was. It took several conversations to explain how the change could benefit everyone before they finally agreed to let the old pieces go. New to furniture hunting, I began my first searching online for furniture and art that felt more me. Finding pieces that were both the right size and style took months of patience — and a few probably unavoidable mistakes made by rookies. I was surprised by the mental energy it took to coordinate countless online meet-ups, not to mention the physical effort required to haul furniture. For a while, the room looked even messier, but gradually it took shape as a space I longed for. I didn’t hold back when it came to decorating. I intentionally chose more compact furniture to create distinct zones for different activities. Now I work, journal, and craft at my desk, write in my armchair, and read or relax on my bed. Different bookshelves organize separate types. One of my goals with this redecoration was to support my sensory needs. So I introduced softer furnishings (家具陈设), warm ambient lighting, heated blankets, and varied seating, which made me comfortable and helped me stay focused. It’s no exaggeration to say that redoing my room has changed my life for the better. I now have a studio that fuels my creativity, a place that reflects my identity, and a soft landing spot for when life gets hard. For now, I know it’ll have been worth it — for a space that perfectly serves me in this chapter of my life. 24. Why did the author have to persuade the parents repeatedly? A. Because they feared the heavy lifting. B. Because they cherished the old furniture. C. Because they doubted the decorating effects. D. Because they preferred the original room layout. 25. What does the underlined word “rookies” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Fools. B. Beginners. C. Amateurs. D. Trainees. 26. What do the newly-added items reflect about the redecoration? A. Its practical design. B. Its simple decorative beauty. C. Its high decoration cost. D. Its professional decoration skills. 27. What can be inferred about the redecoration from the text? A. It doesn’t take much effort. B. It creates a fashionable look. C. It brings spiritual rewards. D. It ends the author’s life troubles. B 25. B 26. A 27. 根据第二段“Until recently, it was filled with large and heavy hand-me-down furniture that my parents were far more attached to than I was. (直到最近,房间里还摆满了又大又重的旧家具,我父母对这些家具的依恋程度远胜于我。)”可知,作者不得不反复劝说父母是因为他们珍爱这些旧家具。 【25题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第三段“New to furniture hunting, I began my first searching online for furniture and art that felt more me. Finding pieces that were both the right size and style took months of patience — and a few probably unavoidable mistakes made by rookies. (作为家具选购的新手,我开始第一次在网上搜索更符合我风格的家具和艺术品。找到尺寸和风格都合适的家具需要几个月的耐心——还有一些可能是rookies不可避免会犯的错误。)”可知,作者是家具选购的新手,因此,rookies意为“新手,初学者”。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“So I introduced softer furnishings (家具陈设), warm ambient lighting, heated blankets, and varied seating, which made me comfortable and helped me stay focused. (所以我添置了更柔软的家具陈设、温暖的环境照明、加热毯和各种座椅,这些让我感到舒适,并帮助我保持专注。)”可知,新增的物品反映了装修的实用设计。 【27题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“It’s no exaggeration to say that redoing my room has changed my life for the better. I now have a studio that fuels my creativity, a place that reflects my identity, and a soft landing spot for when life gets hard. (毫不夸张地说,重新装修我的房间让我的生活变得更好了。我现在有了一个激发创造力的工作室,一个反映我身份的地方,以及一个当生活艰难时的柔软落脚点。)”可知,重新装修给作者带来了精神回报。 C An illustrated anthology (选集) of climate poetry co-created by pupils at coastal schools in the British Isles and the United Arab Emirates was formally presented to some of its young authors at a special event on a campus of the University of Exeter. At the event, several of the children read poems from the book to an invited audience. We Are The Ocean was developed by around 400 schoolchildren, aged 10-13. It features 12 poems written in English and Arabic that express their hopes, fears, and actions for the planet’s blue environments. “We Are The Ocean is a powerful appeal by the children to take better care of our blue environments,” says Dr Sally Flint from We Are The Possible, the international UK-UAE programme that has arranged the work. “They are the inheritors (继承人) of this planet, and through education, science and art, they have connected with the ocean and their fellow children to create a lasting heritage.” During the project, students from 14 schools in the two countries followed a weekly programme of learning activities, such as exploring the importance of seagrass ecosystems and capturing nature through art. Over the course of several weeks, the children shared work and connected with their international teammates through a specific online platform. They were also taken on field trips to their local seaside to learn in the natural environment. “The project provided our children with an invaluable opportunity to really think about other places around the world and our oceans,” said Demelza Bolton, Head Teacher of a participant school. “And the poetry anthology will stand as proof that the children can make their voices heard.” “Connecting with nature, science, art and stories has deepened children’s understanding of the ocean and what they value most,” adds Cecilia Mañosa Nyblon, Director of We Are The Possible. “Their words matter and they are calling on the adults to act now to safeguard the future of our planet.” 28. What do we know about the anthology We Are The Ocean? A. Its poems are written in two languages. B. Its readers are environmental experts. C. It is completed by university students. D. It focuses on land ecosystem protection. 29. What is paragraph 3 mainly about? A. Benefits of online platforms. B. Kids’ views on ocean protection. C. Cross-country field-trip sites. D. Project-related learning activities. 30. What can we infer from Demelza Bolton’s words? A. Kids’ voices deserve to be noticed. B. Teachers play a key role in the project. C. Ocean protection depends mainly on schools. D. Children should travel around the world more. 31. What is the text intended to do? A. To share kids’ creative poems about literature. B. To appeal to adults to stop polluting the ocean. C. To report a children’s climate-themed poetry project. D. To promote Exeter University’s environmental courses. A 29. D 30. A 31. 根据第二段中“It features 12 poems written in English and Arabic that express their hopes, fears, and actions for the planet’s blue environments.(它收录了12首用英语和阿拉伯语写成的诗,表达他们对地球蓝色环境的希望、恐惧和行动。)” 根据第三段中“During the project, students from 14 schools in the two countries followed a weekly programme of learning activities, such as exploring the importance of seagrass ecosystems and capturing nature through art. Over the course of several weeks, the children shared work and connected with their international teammates through a specific online platform. They were also taken on field trips to their local seaside to learn in the natural environment.(在项目期间,两国14所学校的学生参加了每周的学习活动计划,例如探索海草生态系统的重要性以及通过艺术捕捉自然。在几周的时间里,孩子们通过一个特定的在线平台分享作品,并与国际队友联系。他们还参加了实地考察,在当地海边进行自然学习。)”可知,第三段主要讲述与项目相关的学习活动。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中Demelza Bolton的话“And the poetry anthology will stand as proof that the children can make their voices heard.(这本诗集将作为孩子们能够让他们的声音被听到的证明。)” 通读全文,结合第一段中“An illustrated anthology (选集) of climate poetry co-created by pupils at coastal schools in the British Isles and the United Arab Emirates was formally presented to some of its young authors at a special event on a campus of the University of Exeter.(一本由英国和阿联酋沿海学校学生共同创作的气候诗歌插图选集,在埃克塞特大学校园的一次特别活动上正式赠予部分年轻作者。)”以及第二段中“We Are The Ocean was developed by around 400 schoolchildren, aged 10-13.(《我们是海洋》由大约400名10至13岁的学童共同创作。)” D Peak human running speed, compared to that of other similarly sized land animals, is absolutely poor, says animal locomotion expert McNeill Alexander of the University of Leeds. If Usain Bolt, a Jamaican sprinter and one of the fastest 100-metre runners of all time, raced the fifty fastest animals, he would come in around 28, just ahead of the elephant. The cheetah (猎豹) would take the first-place gold and the antelope the second-place silver. Our main disadvantage, Alexander says, is the considerable size and weight of our limbs (四肢). We still suffer from having evolved from apes, whose tree-living lifestyles require big grasping feet and plenty of muscle all the way up the leg. What would make humans faster, according to Alexander, is if we had legs like an ostrich. Ostriches run on their toes, with their ankles a good bit of the way up the leg, and carry almost all their leg muscle on short thighbones at the very top. They can run up to 69 kilometres an hour. It is a little surprising that humans have achieved the speeds they have, and that they keep getting faster. In the 1936 Olympics, Jesse Owens achieved a speed of 35 km/h; in 2009 Bolt reached over 42 km/h. Peter Weyland, a researcher at Southern Methodist University, subjected top-level runners to complex tests. Based on his research, Weyland determined that humans should be biologically capable of running up to about 65 kph. Human speed is largely a matter of how fast our muscles can activate and pull our tendons (肌腱), pushing us off the ground. Humans have three types of muscle fibre, two fast-twitch types and one slow-twitch. Fast-twitch muscles fire quickly and are good for producing speedy, short bursts of energy. Slow-twitch muscles fire slowly but can work effectively over long periods of time. 32. Why does the author mention Usain Bolt in the first paragraph? A. To praise him as an outstanding athlete. B. To prove athletes’ improving performances. C. To compare his speed with that of the antelope. D. To show humans run slower than many land animals. 33. According to Alexander, what limits human running speed? A. The size and weight of our limbs. B. Our tree-living modern lifestyles. C. Insufficient muscle in human legs. D. Our feet adapted for grasping objects. 34. How does the author develop paragraph 3? A. By giving practical suggestions. B. By analyzing causes and effects. C. By presenting data and research findings. D. By making comparisons among animals. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Top Sprinters and Their Records B. Muscle Fibres: Different Functions C. Speed Comparison Among Wild Animals D. Human Running Speed: Limits and Potential 【答案】32. D 33. A 34. C 35. 根据第一段“Peak human running speed, compared to that of other similarly sized land animals is absolutely poor, says animal locomotion expert McNeill Alexander of the University of Leeds. If Usain Bolt, a Jamaican sprinter and one of the fastest 100-metre runners of all time, raced the fifty fastest animals, he would come in around 28, just ahead of the elephant. (利兹大学的动物运动专家 McNeill Alexander 表示,与其他体型相近的陆地动物相比,人类的峰值奔跑速度确实非常低。如果牙买加短跑运动员尤塞恩·博尔特——有史以来最快的100米跑者之一——与最快的50只动物进行赛跑,他的名次将排在第28位左右,仅领先于大象)”可知,作者提到博尔特是为了用具体例子说明人类跑步速度远不如许多陆地动物。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“Our main disadvantage, Alexander says, is the considerable size and weight of our limbs (四肢). (亚历山大表示,我们最大的缺点在于四肢的尺寸和重量都相当大)”可知,Alexander认为限制人类跑步速度的是四肢的大小和重量。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“In the 1936 Olympics, Jesse Owens achieved a speed of 35 km/h; in 2009 Bolt reached over 42 km/h. (1936年奥运会,杰西·欧文斯达到35公里/小时;2009年博尔特超过42公里/小时)”以及“Based on his research, Weyland determined that humans should be biologically capable of running up to about 65 kph. From Monday to Friday, many of us have an early start and a long day. By the time we’ve gone to bed and managed to fall asleep, we’ve been woken up by the alarm to do it all again. ____36____ We sleep in way past our usual wake-up time just to stay in sync enough to start again on Monday. ____37____ It refers to a common sleep-related problem. That’s the term for the difference between our working-week sleeping habit, when our sleep times are influenced by our duties, and the weekend, when we can wake when we choose. And depending on what type of person you are, the difference can be significant. For night owls — those whose natural rhythm is to wake and go to bed later — there can be serious health-related problems, according to a recent study. The study concludes the greater the difference between working-week and weekend sleep times, the greater the health issues — including a higher risk of heart disease and other metabolic problems. ____38____ And because so many jobs and tasks start early, night owls are effectively forced to fit in with early risers. So what can night owls do? Force themselves to change by giving up their late morning sleep? “It’s the worst thing you can do,” says a medical expert. ____39____ The other half is connected with their age and environment. Getting less sleep is unlikely to change your genetic tendencies. One solution, beyond changing society’s early-start tendencies, is to adjust our body clock by controlling our exposure to light. We can do this by controlling how much light we get every day. By taking more sunlight in the morning and cutting down on the amount of man-made light we are exposed to in the evening — particularly on electronic devices — we can rebalance our bodies to feel sleepy earlier. ____40____ A. Welcome to social jet lag. B. Come the weekend, and we’re totally exhausted. C. We should get up early to enjoy the natural sunlight. D. This is true for most people living in modern society. E. Many night owls suffer from these problems without realizing it. F. This is because people’s sleep pattern is half determined by genetics. G. It’s far from easy, but better than losing your whole weekend to sleep. B 37. A 38. E 39. F 40. 【36题详解】 上文“From Monday to Friday, many of us have an early start and a long day. By the time we’ve gone to bed and managed to fall asleep, we’ve been woken up by the alarm to do it all again.(从周一到周五,我们很多人都要早起,度过漫长的一天。好不容易上床睡着,闹钟又把我们叫醒,重复这样的生活)”讲述工作日人们早起、被闹钟叫醒循环往复的作息;下文“We sleep in way past our usual wake-up time just to stay in sync enough to start again on Monday.(我们会远远超过平时的起床时间睡懒觉,只为调整状态,保证周一能重新开始工作)”说明周末人们会睡懒觉。B项“Come the weekend, and we’re totally exhausted.(到了周末,我们已经筋疲力尽)”承接工作日的疲惫状态,引出周末睡懒觉的行为,符合语境。 【37题详解】 下文“It refers to a common sleep-related problem. That’s the term for the difference between our working-week sleeping habit, when our sleep times are influenced by our duties, and the weekend, when we can wake when we choose.(它指一种常见的睡眠问题。这个术语用来描述工作日和周末作息的差异:工作日,睡眠时间受工作任务约束;周末,则可以自主决定什么时候醒来)”出现代词It以及the term,说明空格处要引出一个专有名词。A项“Welcome to social jet lag.(来认识一下“社会时差”)”引出“社会时差”这一概念,后文的It和the term均指代social jet lag,因此符合语境。 【38题详解】 上文“The study concludes the greater the difference between working-week and weekend sleep times, the greater the health issues — including a higher risk of heart disease and other metabolic problems.(研究得出结论:工作日和周末的睡眠时间差距越大,健康隐患就越多,心脏病以及其他代谢疾病的风险也更高)”介绍研究表明工作日和周末睡眠时间差距越大,健康问题风险越高;下文“And because so many jobs and tasks start early, night owls are effectively forced to fit in with early risers.(而且因为大量工作都要求早起,夜猫子实际上被迫去适应早起人群的节奏)”说明工作迫使夜猫子适应早起人群。E项“Many night owls suffer from these problems without realizing it.(很多夜猫子承受着这些问题却并未意识到)”中these problems指代上文中心脏病、代谢类健康问题,衔接上下文。 【39题详解】 上文““It’s the worst thing you can do,” says a medical expert.(一位医学专家说:“这是最糟糕的做法。”)”说明专家认为逼迫夜猫子放弃周末睡懒觉是最不可取的做法;下文“The other half is connected with their age and environment.(另一半则和年龄、环境有关)”出现“The other half(另一半)”。F项“This is because people’s sleep pattern is half determined by genetics.(这是因为人的睡眠模式一半由基因决定)”中“half determined by genetics”和下文“The other half”形成对应逻辑,解释为什么不能强行改变作息。 【40题详解】 上文“By taking more sunlight in the morning and cutting down on the amount of man-made light we are exposed to in the evening — particularly on electronic devices — we can rebalance our bodies to feel sleepy earlier.(早上多晒晒太阳,晚上减少人造光的照射(尤其是电子设备发出的光),我们就可以重新调节身体状态,更早产生困意)”给出调节生物钟的具体解决办法。G项“It’s far from easy, but better than losing your whole weekend to sleep.(这并不容易,但好过把整个周末都用来睡觉)”对前面这套调节方法做出评价,收束该段。 Last year, when the leaves started to fall, I planted 100 tulips (郁金香) in front of our house and prayed colorful flowers would fill our home. She lived in the cozy town of Willow Creek, where everyone knew and looked out for each other. Ella loved school, especially art class, where she let her imagination soar. But today was different. Today, a new student was joining her class, and Ella was excited about what this change would mean. As she entered the classroom, she heard a buzz of chatter among her classmates. “I heard a new girl came from another country and ate weird food!” whispered Jessica, Ella’s best friend. Soon Mr. Thompson introduced the new student, Amina. Amina stepped forward, wearing a beautiful dress. Her eyes sparkled with a mix of excitement and worry. She greeted the class softly, while some classmates kept whispering. At lunchtime, Ella and Jessica sat down at their usual table. Amina joined them, her lunch tray filled with colorful containers. “What are you eating?” Jessica asked. Amina smiled shyly. “It’s called biryani, a traditional dish from my home country.” Jessica wrinkled her nose a little. Amina’s smile faded slightly. “Want to try some?” Amina offered, but Jessica shook her head. Ella hesitated, but she didn’t want to make things awkward. She took a bite of the biryani. The flavors exploded in her mouth, spicy yet savory. “This is amazing, Amina!” Amina’s eyes widened with joy. As the days passed, Ella and Amina grew closer. They discovered they shared a love for art and stories. Amina shared stories about her homeland with enthusiasm. And she told Ella she missed her home as few classmates understood her food or traditions. “But you’re here now, and you can share those things with us. We can learn from each other.” Ella comforted her. Amina nodded, a spark of hope lighting her eyes. “You’re right! Maybe I can teach everyone about my culture.” The next day, Amina approached Mr. Thompson, her heart beating fast. “Can I do a presentation about my culture for the class?” she asked. “Of course, Amina! That sounds like a fantastic idea!” Mr. Thompson replied, his encouragement lifting her spirits. The long-expected day of Amina’s presentation finally arrived. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ella heard whispers of approval and curiosity as her classmates tasted the biryani. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】【参考范文】 The long-expected day of Amina’s presentation finally arrived. Amina stood at the front, her hands nervously gripping the edge of the desk. “Today I want to share a bit about my home and my culture,” she began, her voice gaining strength as she spoke. She showed pictures of her village, the colourful festivals, and the delicious food. Amina explained how food played a significant role in her culture, bringing people together. A surge of pride for Amina welled up in Ella. After Amina finished her presentation, she brought out the biryani made at home, and then offered it to the class. Ella heard whispers of approval and curiosity as her classmates tasted the biryani. Having taken a bite, Jessica let out a cry of surprise, admitting that she shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions before. Amina’s heart swelled with joy. What had been her worry gradually gave way to a sense of belonging. Ella spotted the spark of friendship lighting up the room as her classmates chatted with Amina, sharing their own food stories and traditions. Watching the warm scene, Mr. Thompson wore a satisfied smile. The students learned to appreciate their differences and cherish their bonds. 词汇激活 行为类 ①获得:gain/obtain ②珍惜:cherish/treasure 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprise/amazement ②喜悦: joy/delight 【点睛】[高分句型1]. First, about your equipment. Our school will provide telescopes for each pair for you, so you don't have to bring your own. Please wear law sleeves. The grass out there has many insects covering your skin is more important than looking good. Second, the rules stay on the market path at all times. Many rare birds live in the wetland, and stepping off the past may destroy their nests. Now, what if you get separated from your group, say exactly where you are, and don't walk around? Each of you has a whistle. So just blow IT every few minutes. And I can't looking for you one more thing. The goal of the trip is careful observation. If you finish observing one area before the others, don't move on, wait at the marked spots and record more details instead. Any questions? No, all right. B For various reasons — my health issues and an unpredictable income among them — moving out of my family home hasn’t been possible yet. C An illustrated anthology (选集) of climate poetry co-created by pupils at coastal schools in the British Isles and the United Arab Emirates was formally presented to some of its young authors at a special event on a campus of the University of Exeter. D Peak human running speed, compared to that of other similarly sized land animals, is absolutely poor, says animal locomotion expert McNeill Alexander of the University of Leeds. Human Running Speed: Limits and Potential From Monday to Friday, many of us have an early start and a long day. Last year, when the leaves started to fall, I planted 100 tulips (郁金香) in front of our house and prayed colorful flowers would fill our home. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
