1. The area ________ with sandstorms all the time before, but now there are fewer storms.
A. has covered B. is covered C. was covered
2. It’s careful ________ Alice to check her homework twice before handing it in.
A. with B. for C. of
with和……一起;for对于;of……的。“It’s + adj. + of/for + sb. + to do sth.”
3. I don’t know ________ you will go to the park with them or not.
A. if B. whether C. when
if是否,如果;whether是否;when什么时候。
4. —Does anybody want to share____on Father’s Day?
—Guess what? I’ll write a poem for my dad.
A. when will you shop B. what you will do C. where you will go
when will you shop你什么时候购物,是疑问语序;what you will do你会做什么;where you will go你会去哪里。
5. If you don’t plan well, you may ________ your time before finishing the task.
A. run out of B. run out C. run away
【答案】A
run out of用完、耗尽;run out用完、耗尽;run away逃跑。 run out of后接宾语,符合句意;run out后不接宾语;run away语义不符。故选A。

With the rapid development of technology, students’ daily learning styles have changed a lot. Thanks to the “Double Reduction” policy (双减政策), schoolbags are becoming lighter, and free time is increasing. However, how to use this time wisely becomes a new challenge.
Nowadays, many students prefer “smart learning” instead of just burning the midnight oil. First, online resources are widely used. Apps and educational websites offer rich knowledge. Students can watch teaching videos, check notes, and even take online quizzes at home. But it is important to focus on the screen and avoid playing games during class time.
Second, group study has become more popular. After class, students often meet in small groups to discuss difficult problems. By sharing ideas and helping each other, they can solve questions more quickly. This kind of cooperative learning improves both efficiency and confidence.
Third, time management is key. Smart learners know how to plan their day. They usually finish homework first and then do sports or read books. Remember, reading for just 20 minutes every day is better than cramming (强化学习) for hours on weekends.
In conclusion, good learning habits, combined with modern technology, make students’ school life more colourful and meaningful.

Memory Jar (记忆罐子)
When I was in primary school, my teacher, Ms. Gao, asked each of us to keep a “memory jar”. Every Friday, we wrote down one happy thing that happened during the week on a small piece of paper, folded it, and put it into the jar. At first, I thought it was just a simple game. Some weeks I could only find one small thing to write about. I complained that nothing exciting ever happened to me.
Then one Friday, Ms. Gao showed us her own jar from ten years ago. There were more than five hundred notes in it. “Most of them are very small things,” she said, “a warm smile from a stranger, a bird singing outside my window, a student saying thank you.” I was surprised. To her, those little moments were worth recording.
After that, I began to look at my days more carefully. I noticed the sunshine on my desk, the smile of the noodle seller, and the joke my deskmate told when the teacher wasn’t looking. Slowly, my jar became heavier.
Last month, I felt sad because I failed an important exam. That evening, I opened my jar and read the notes one by one. By the time I reached the bottom, I was smiling. The notes did not solve my problem, but they reminded me that my life was full of small joys.
Now I understand why Ms. Gao started this game. Memory is like a lamp. It cannot change the past, but it can guide us in the dark moments. The good news is that we can fill it with light every single day.
