Objectives:

Language Ability:

1. Ss can master key vocabulary and phrases such as "guidance", "advantage", "in part", "in addition", "work on", "connect... with...", "open up", and "allow".

2. Ss can understand the main idea and structure of Chen Lei's online post about his reading habits.

3. Ss can write a post to introduce their own reading habits based on a clear writing framework.

 

Learning Ability:

4. Ss can use reading strategies to extract specific information and summarize the structure of a text (origin, development, benefits).

5. Ss can use a checklist to evaluate their own and peers' writing.

6. Ss can analyze the benefits of "teaching others" as an active learning method and reflect on their own reading habits.

Teaching Procedures:

 

Step 1. Lead - in & Vocabulary Review

1). Activity 2a: Wordsearch. Ask Ss to find the hidden words in the wordsearch and complete the learning expressions (e.g., "read aloud", "discover grammar rules", "keep a learning diary").

2). Activity 2b: Ask Ss to circle the correct words to complete the sentences ("guidance", "advantage", "methods", "examination", "dialogue").

3). Purpose: To review key vocabulary from previous lessons, activate students' background knowledge, and prepare for the reading and writing tasks.

 

Step 2. Reading for Learning Strategies (Activity 2c)

1). Ask Ss to complete the passage in 2c using the phrases in the box ("as well as", "in part", "in addition", "work on", "step by step", "connect... with").

2). Check answers and guide Ss to summarize the main idea: "Teaching others is a good method to learn actively."

3). Discuss the three tips for teaching others well (teach simple points step by step, connect with the learner's experience, ask them to explain).

4). Purpose: To introduce a new active learning method and practice reading comprehension at the passage level.

 

Step 3. Reading for Writing (Activity 3a, 3b, 3c)

1). Pre-reading: Show a picture of Chen Lei and ask: "What do you think Chen Lei will talk about in his post?" (Answer: Maybe his reading habits).

2). Fast reading (3a): Let Ss read the online post and answer: "How did Chen Lei develop his love of reading?" (Answer: Through his mother's influence and his own exploration).
