listen to music“听音乐”,是固定搭配;需用动名词形式listening to,和后面的taking并列,作介词by的宾语。by doing sth“通过做某事”。
whether... or...“是…… 还是……”,是固定搭配,应选whether“是否”,表示这种重压是正常的还是我太虚弱无法应对。that“那”、how“如何”、what“什么”。

I often think of many interesting topics in my mind. ___9___, when the moment comes, I always lose my courage and stay silent. I just don’t know how to break the ice.
I’ve been keeping these troubles to ___10___ for weeks. Could you please give me some practical advice?

这里是固定结构“find it + 形容词 + to do sth.”,it在这里作形式宾语,指代后面的“to speak out my feelings”这件事。

like后接动名词,主语I和compare是被动关系,表示“被比较”,being compared符合语境。
结合后文but it still hurts,shouldn’t“不应该”符合“理智上知道不必把玩笑放在心上”的语境。
while引导从句谓语多用进行时;until“直到”、as soon as“一……就”,均不符合语境。

Every year, the world produces a lot of plastic waste. From water bottles to daily packaging, this “white pollution” is damaging our environment and putting animal lives in danger. As the world searches for ways to beat plastic pollution, one solution (解决) is gaining attention: bamboo.
Why bamboo? First, it is a fast-growing plant. According to scientists, bamboo can be harvested in just three to five years, while trees take decades. Second, it is eco-friendly. It absorbs (吸收) more carbon dioxide than traditional forests. Most importantly, unlike plastic which stays in the earth for hundreds of years, bamboo products can break down easily in nature.
China, home to about one-quarter of the world’s bamboo forests, is leading the “bamboo-for-plastic” plan. The country aims to use bamboo to make packaging, tableware (餐具), and daily goods. Real changes are already happening. For example, in Anji, Zhejiang Province, nearly 300 hotels have started using bamboo toothbrushes and combs. This simple change has replaced more than 3.5 million disposable (一次性的) plastic items!
The benefits of bamboo go beyond protecting the environment. It also helps people in other parts of the world. China is now sharing its skills in planting and managing bamboo with farmers in African countries like Ghana, helping them make a better living.
As the world looks for ways to fight plastic pollution, bamboo is clearly a powerful alternative (替代品). Through new technology and international cooperation, this amazing plant is helping us build a greener and cleaner future.
29. Why is the bamboo an eco-friendly plant?
A. It takes longer to harvest than trees. B. It produces less carbon dioxide.
C. It can easily break down in nature. D. It grows on any kind of land quickly.
30. Why does the writer mention Anji in Paragraph 3?
A. To encourage hotels to provide free goods.
B. To prove the “bamboo-for-plastic” plan works.
C. To explain how to make bamboo toothbrushes.
D. To introduce a good place for growing bamboo.
31. What is the result of China’s help in African countries?
A. They start to sell bamboo to China. B. They learn to make bamboo tableware.
C. Their farmers can earn more money. D. Their living environment gets cleaner.
32. How does the writer organize the ideas?
A. By comparing different materials. B. By asking and answering questions.
C. By showing the causes of pollution. D. By presenting the problem and solution.
C 30. B 31. C 32. D

Though his condition has become worse, leaving him unable to move or speak, Cai refuses to give up. He can now communicate and work only by using eye-tracking technology to type.

Two men, both seriously ill, stayed in the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up for an hour each afternoon to help get the fluid (积液) out of his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.
Every afternoon, the man by the window would sit up and pass the time by describing to his roommate everything he could see outside. The other man began to live for those one-hour periods when his world would be broadened by the activity and color of the outside world.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks played on the water while children sailed their model boats. As the man described all this in beautiful detail, the other man would close his eyes and imagine the wonderful scene.
One afternoon, a parade passed by. Although the other man couldn’t hear the band, he could see it in his mind as his roommate described it with lively words.
Unexpectedly, a dark thought entered his head: Why should he see everything while I see nothing? It didn’t seem fair. As days passed, his envy turned into anger. He should be by that window—that thought now controlled his life.
Late one night, the man by the window began to cough. He could hardly breathe because of the fluid in his lungs. The other man watched as the struggling man reached for the call button. Listening from across the room, he never moved, never pushed his call button to bring the nurse. Soon, there was only silence.
The next morning, the nurse found the man had passed away and called the hospital workers to take him away. As soon as everything was done, the surviving man asked to be moved next to the window. The nurse agreed. After making sure he was comfortable, she left.
Slowly, painfully, he lifted himself up on one arm to take his first look. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it all himself. He struggled to turn and look out the window beside the bed.
It faced a blank wall.

根据文章第2段“Every afternoon, the man by the window would sit up and pass the time by describing to his roommate everything he could see outside.”

根据文章第5段“He should be by that window—that thought now controlled his life.”

Taking the leap (跳跃)
Loud squeals (尖叫声) in my backyard surprised me. I was in my backyard, watering a cucumber planter (种植盆), when I saw them: five tiny newborn rabbits, shaking, their eyes still closed.
For two weeks, I watched them hidden under leaves. Their mother kept a watchful eye from a distance, never too far away. One day, a baby rabbit was at the edge (边缘) of the planter, thinking about jumping off. I tried to guide it back, but it was frozen, unsure whether to jump or stay.
Finally, all the rabbits jumped from the planter. Some landed successfully. Others stumbled. The last one hesitated (犹豫) , but finally managed it.
This moment stayed with me. We like to believe life is built on planning and control, but many important moments are leaps into the unknown—moving to a new city, starting a relationship or having children. Each jump brings risks and challenges, but they are part of growing up.
I used to think courage meant being fearless. Now I realize it means being afraid and moving forward anyway. The rabbits didn’t leap because they felt safe. They leapt because staying in the planter was no longer a choice—they had to grow.
Looking back at my own leaps, some went smoothly, others left bruises (伤痕). Giving up a job that no longer felt right, even without a clear plan, was a leap that reshaped my career (职业). Holding my newborn son for the first time was another leap. Nothing prepares you for being a parent, but you will learn along the way.
Leaps are not always taken alone. The mother rabbit stayed close. We feel safer and braver when someone is with us—a friend or even a stranger’s kind words.
The last rabbit, hesitating at the edge, reminded me of my own doubts. Fear often tells us to stay still, but growth requires action. When it finally jumped, I felt so happy, because not moving means not really living. I hope I will remember those rabbits, their courage, and the truth that fear can show us something worth trying.
