I am a note (纸币). My surface is old and has many folds (折痕), showing the touch of many hands. My story is full of different moments.
I started my trip from a bank. My first owner was a lady. Before going to work, she used me to buy flowers and put them by her mother's bed. Still wet with dew (露珠), the flowers looked fresh and beautiful.
I passed from the flower seller to another customer, then another... Then one day, someone dropped me onto the ground without noticing. There, I was picked up by a shaking hand and carried into a dark corner. There, I was quickly exchanged (交换) for something secret. I felt dirty, far away from the light. It was the darkest moment of my journey.
A few days later, I ended up in a middle school student's hands. He put me gently into his moneybox, and I stayed safe there for many months. During that time, I listened as he talked about his dream for the future, and I hoped to be part of it. One afternoon, he took me out and placed me into a donation box for Project Hope. As I went to help a child who really needed it, I felt truly useful and important for the first time.
Soon I was given to a young girl. She took me to a bookstore and used me to buy a book about money management. Now, resting in another bank, as I'm waiting quietly for my next owner, I think about my special life. I have seen both the darkest sides of people and their most beautiful dreams. I don't belong to anyone-I'm just a piece of paper. But how you decide to use me shows who you really are.

According to the United Nations, about 2.2 billion people around the world still don’t have enough drinking water. This serious problem has led scientists to look for new solutions.
Professor Omar Yaghi is one of the scientists. He has created a special device (装置). It can collect water from the air. Even in very dry places, like deserts, it can still work well. In a recent test in Death Valley, one of the hottest places on Earth, the device successfully collected water.
The secret lies in the special materials in the device. These materials can catch water vapour (水蒸气) from the air, even when the air is very dry. The device then turns the water vapour into clean and safe drinking water. Each device can make up to 1,000 L of water a day. Besides, it consumes very little energy and can work without being connected to power systems (电力系统).
Yaghi’s idea comes from his own childhood experiences. He grew up in a very dry place. People there received water only once every few weeks. These early experiences never left him. They made him realise how valuable (珍贵的) water is and inspired him to find a better way to get it.
The device can help people in dry places and natural disaster areas. For example, after typhoons or floods, clean water is often hard to get. This device can provide water quickly in such situations. It brings hope to a lot of people and shows how science can help solve real-world problems.

A. By telling a story. B. By introducing a fact.
C. By discussing a problem. D. By describing a scientist.

38. Which of the following can take the place of “consumes” in Paragraph 3?

B. To show why he chose the special materials.
C. To show how different he is from other scientists.

How to treat money
It’s quite common that teenagers fail to realize the value of money. This happens because they don’t need to make money to support themselves. They may get money from family members or friends. Some teens save money while others spend all of it on their favourite things. If you receive money, you should learn to use it in a smart way.
Besides getting money from others, teenagers can also make money by doing small part-time jobs. They can tidy up gardens, send newspapers and look after babies for neighbours. Walking pets is another great way. Some teenagers even start their own small business.
Once you find a way to make money, you should start saving it. If you own a bank account, you can put some of your income into it. If not, you can ask your parents to create one for you. The other choice is to keep your money in your desk, where you can store it safely.
It is not easy for teenagers to truly understand the value of money. You may feel like buying the latest clothes or popular toys. However, a bank account helps you learn to manage your own money and form good saving habits.

36. How does the writer begin the text?

C. By discussing a problem. D. By describing a scientist.
37. What does the success of the test in Death Valley show?
