First, we started with the cleaning. My dad took charge of (负责) sweeping the floor and dusting the furniture. He even moved the big sofa in the living room to clean the area under it. My mum was busy in the kitchen, washing the countertops (台面) and making sure the dishes were clean. She also cleaned the windows until they looked like mirrors. As for me, I tidied up my room and set the dining table. I put the plates, bowls, and cutlery (餐具) carefully.
After that, we began preparing dinner. My mum took the lead in cooking the main dish. She made delicious roast chicken, and the smell filled the whole house. My dad helped by washing vegetables for a fresh salad. I was in charge of making dessert. I baked some chocolate cookies. We worked together, chatting and laughing all the way.
By the time the guests arrived, our home was clean and a wonderful meal was waiting for them. This experience made me feel the strong bond between our family and how working together could make any task enjoyable.
