There are hundreds of national parks and wildlife areas in Africa that you can visit. Here are the top four travel destinations in Africa:
Tanzania — Serengeti National Park
During the yearly migration (迁徙), when the wildebeests (牛羚) and zebras leave their living areas to find fresher ones, the Serengeti is an astonishing place to be. It’s a very good travel spot, for migration here has been ranked as a wonder of the natural world.
Kenya — Masai Mara National Park
If you want to see the big cats, this wildlife park is the best. There are lots of lions, leopards (豹) and cheetahs, and they are relatively easy to see because you can get good views for miles around. Another big plus is that going off-road is allowed and it is a big advantage because the animals rarely follow you and stay next to the major roads.
South Africa — Kruger National Park
For the variety of species, no other place in Africa can come close to Kruger National Park. And because it is so large, it has a number of different ecosystems that you can pass through in your search for animals and birds. It is one of the best managed parks in Africa and the accommodation is well equipped, too.
Zambia — South Luangwa National Park
South Luangwa is a great place that deserves more exposure to claim its rightful place among the top African trips. It is considered one of the best places in Africa to see the special leopard and it is the birthplace of the walking travel.

In the remote town of Yangla, located over 3,000 meters above sea level in the mountains of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, 32-year-old doctor Nasheng is devoted to providing healthcare to more than 5,400 villagers.
Nasheng graduated in Tibetan medicine from Qinghai University in Qinghai Province. Her passion for the field was inspired after witnessing the difficulties faced by her fellow villagers. “I saw how difficult it was for my family to access medical treatment in inland areas — long journeys, language barriers, and cultural differences made it even harder,” she said.
When she arrived at the Yangla Town health center in September 2021, she was struck by the isolation (隔绝) of the area. Her accommodation is a simple room inside the inpatient ward. Other than a barbecue restaurant, there are no other entertainment options in town.
Although Yangla Town has a small population, its villages are spread across more than 1,000 square kilometers, often requiring several hours of travel by car to reach each one.
This made Nasheng aware that even though the village had a health station, many residents still struggled to reach it due to the area’s vastness. “What if there were another station here?” she wondered. After submitting a proposal, and with support from the local government, a basic health station was established in June 2022. “Now the service station has moved into a new building, and a village doctor is seeing patients there,” Nasheng said. The Yangla Town health center also organizes mobile free clinics in different villages every month, supported by a committed team of over 20 staff members.
Looking ahead, she hopes to continue her studies. “I want to pursue a master’s degree and learn more about acupuncture (针灸) techniques,” she said. “But no matter what, I’ll always come back — this is my home.”
24.What motivated Nasheng to study Tibetan medicine?
A.Cultural differences. B.Healthcare challenges.
C.Her family’s pressure. D.Fellow villagers’ poverty.
25.What can we know about Yangla Town?
A.It is cut off from big cities. B.It is an entertainment center.
C.It has various medical facilities. D.It has a concentrated population.
26.How did Nasheng improve healthcare?
A.By launching an initiative. B.By training a medical team.
C.By building a new health station. D.By organizing mobile free clinics.
27.What might be the best title for the text?
A.Home Above 3,000 Meters B.Building Trust in a Remote Village
C.The Challenges of Rural Medical Services D.Bringing Hope to a Remote Mountain Town

Handwriting notes in class might seem old-fashioned as digital technology affects nearly every aspect of learning. But a recent study in Frontiers in Psychology suggests that taking notes with pen and paper is still the best way to learn, especially for young children.
The new research builds on a 2014 study that suggested people may type notes quickly, without thinking much about what they’re writing-but writing by hand is slower and makes them actively pay attention to and process the incoming information. This conscious action of building on existing knowledge can make it easier for students to stay engaged and grasp new concepts.
To understand specific brain-activity differences during the two note-taking approaches, the authors of the new study sewed 256 electrodes (电极) into a hairnet. These sensors let the scientists record 36 students’ brain activity as they wrote or typed words displayed on a screen. When students wrote by hand, the sensors picked up widespread brain connectivity throughout visual regions that receive and process sensory information, and the motor cortex (运动皮层) that helps the brain use environmental inputs to inform a person’s next action. Typing, however, resulted in minimal activity in these brain regions.
Vanderbilt University educational neuroscientist Sophia Vinci-Booher says the recent study highlights the clear tie between physical actions and concept understanding, “As you’re writing a word, you’re taking this continuous understanding of something and using motor system to create it.” That creation then affects the visual system, where it’s processed again-strengthening the connection between an action and the words associated with it.
Vinci-Booher notes that the new findings don’t mean technology is always a disadvantage in the classroom. Digital devices can be more efficient for writing essays and offer more equal access to educational resources. However, there’s a growing trend of relying on digital devices to perform cognitive (认知的) tasks, such as taking photos instead of memorizing information. Yadurshana Sivashankar, an researcher at the University of Waterloo says, “If we’re not actively using these areas, then they are going to become worse over time, whether it’s memory or motor skills.”
28.Why does the author mention the 2014 study?
A.To present different research findings. B.To make the new research more convincing.
C.To compare two note taking approaches. D.To show the advantage of writing slowly.
29.What can be learned from the experiment in Paragraph 3?
A.Sensors were used to process visual information.
B.Electrodes were connected to students’ hair directly.
C.Writing by hand activated more brain activity than typing.
D.Typing stimulated the motor cortex to inform following action.
30.What would Sophia Vinci-Booher probably advise students to do?
A.Make better use of motor system. B.Take advantage of digital devices.
C.Adopt a new approach to taking notes. D.Memorize words by writing essays.
31.What is the main idea of the text?
A.Technology is not a disadvantage in classroom.
B.Writing by hand comes with learning benefits.
C.Taking notes enhances students’ brain activity.
D.Two note-taking approaches have clear differences.
D
At some level, advice on how to inspire employees is silly. It’s usually either obvious — be good at your job, be passionate about the work and make the people on your teams feel valued — or shockingly unreal. But much more practical insights can be found in a coming book called Inspire: The Universal Path for Leading Yourself and Others, by Adam Galinsky, an academic at Columbia Business School.
Lots of firms use a series of boringly abstract (抽象的) words to convey their goal: “change”, “innovate”, “connect” and so on. Mr Galinsky cites an experiment that showed the effect of more concrete (具体的) language. In it, teams were asked to design toys and given a vision statement to guide their behaviour. Teams who were handed a statement with more visual language — to create toys that “… make wide-eyed kids laugh and proud parents smile” — produced more engaging toys than teams who were given something more general.
Another study is mentioned in Mr Galinsky’s book. Participants were asked to reflect on important events in their lives, such as their choice of college. Some were also asked to think about how things would have turned out if this event had not happened. This group attributed greater meaning to the event in question, whether because they concluded fate had played a part in it or because it forced them to think through its results more clearly. This type of counterfactual (反事实的) thinking can also be used to strengthen employees’ ties to firms: Prompting people to imagine a world in which their company does not exist seems to increase a sense of belonging.
Perhaps the most striking idea in Mr Galinsky’s book is that, instead of bosses motivating people from above, individuals can do it for themselves. In this study some Swiss citizens who had newly registered with a government employment agency were asked to do a 10 - to 15-minute exercise in which they reflected on values that mattered to them. They were three times more likely to find a job than those who did not do the exercise.
32.Why is a statement with more visual language mentioned?
A.To prove Mr Galinsky’s view.
B.To promote a lively air in firms.
C.To state richness of a language.
D.To persuade readers to value expression.
33.What role does the counterfactual thinking play in a firm?
A.It makes employees reflect on their strengths.
B.It promotes employees’ sense of belonging.
C.It inspires employees to study hard.

M: Do you think some people might lose their jobs?
W: Maybe, but they said they would move staff to different roles, like helping customers with the machines, stocking shelves, and working at the service desk.
M: That makes sense. But what about training? Do we all have to learn how to fix the machines?

M: So, if a customer’s payment doesn’t go through, we’d have to sort it out?

W: Do you speak German?
M: A little, but I’m willing to learn it.
W: You’re right in considering different countries because of the visa. But I suggest you think about why you want to study abroad. If you want to improve your English skills, it would be best to go to a native English-speaking country. England, Canada, America, and Australia are the most popular countries for studying abroad.
M: Oh. Well, can you tell me how to apply for my visa?
W: First, I think you should look into some schools and apply. If you are accepted, then the universities will offer you some guidance on applying for the visa.
M: When should I send my application forms in?
W: Do it as early as possible. Over the summer, you can do some research on the schools. Then, you can send out for application forms in September. Try to send them back to the schools by December. That will give you plenty of time to sort out the visas.

【答案】24.B 25.A 26.A 27.D
根据第二段中“Her passion for the field was inspired after witnessing the difficulties faced by her fellow villagers. “I saw how difficult it was for my family to access medical treatment in inland areas — long journeys, language barriers, and cultural differences made it even harder,” she said. (她目睹了乡亲们面临的困难后,激发了她对这个领域的热情。“我看到我的家人在大山深处就医有多困难 —— 路途遥远、语言障碍和文化差异使就医更加困难,”她说。)”可知,是乡亲们面临的医疗挑战激发了纳西学习藏医的热情。故选B项。
25.细节理解题。根据第三段中“When she arrived at the Yangla Town health center in September 2021, she was struck by the isolation (隔绝) of the area. (2021年9月,当她到达羊拉乡卫生中心时,她被该地区的与世隔绝所震惊。)”可知,羊拉乡地处偏远,与外界隔绝,即与大城市相隔绝。故选A项。
根据第五段中“This made Nasheng aware that even though the village had a health station, many residents still struggled to reach it due to the area’s vastness. “What if there were another station here?” she wondered. After submitting a proposal, and with support from the local government, a basic health station was established in June 2022. (这让纳西意识到,尽管村里有一个卫生站,但由于该地区幅员辽阔,许多居民仍然难以到达。“要是在这里再建一个卫生站呢?”她思忖着。提交提议后,在当地政府的支持下,2022年6月,一个基础卫生站建成了。)”可知,纳西通过提出倡议,即建立另一个卫生站来改善医疗条件。故选A项。
通读全文,特别是根据第一段“In the remote town of Yangla, located over 3,000 meters above sea level in the mountains of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, 32-year-old doctor 纳西 is devoted to providing healthcare to more than 5,400 villagers. (在云南省迪庆藏族自治州海拔3,000多米的偏远小镇羊拉,32岁的医生纳西致力于为5,400多名村民提供医疗服务。)”以及最后一段中“But no matter what, I’ll always come back — this is my home. (但无论如何,我都会回来的 —— 这是我的家。)”可知,文章主要讲述了医生纳西在偏远乡村羊拉为村民提供医疗服务,并努力改善当地医疗条件,给这个偏远的山城带来了希望的故事,D项“Bringing Hope to a Remote Mountain Town (给偏远的山城带来希望)”符合文章主旨,适宜作为标题。故选D项。
C
根据第二段“The new research builds on a 2014 study that suggested people may type notes quickly, without thinking much about what they’re writing-but writing by hand is slower and makes them actively pay attention to and process the incoming information. (这项新的研究建立在2014年的一项研究的基础上,该研究表明,人们可能会快速打字,而不会过多考虑自己在写什么,但手写速度较慢,会让他们积极关注和处理收到的信息。)”可知,新的研究建立在2014年的研究的基础上,所以作者提及2014年的研究是为了让新的研究更具说服力。故选B项。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段“When students wrote by hand, the sensors picked up widespread brain connectivity throughout visual regions that receive and process sensory information, and the motor cortex (运动皮层) that helps the brain use environmental inputs to inform a person’s next action. Typing, however, resulted in minimal activity in these brain regions. (当学生用手写字时,传感器在接收和处理感官信息的视觉区域以及帮助大脑利用环境输入来通知一个人下一步行动的运动皮层中发现了广泛的大脑连接。然而,打字导致这些大脑区域的活动极小。)”可知,手写可以激活大脑更广泛区域的活动,相比之下,打字只在这些区域产生了最小的活动,由此可知,手写比打字更能激活大脑活动。故选C项。
30.推理判断题。根据第四段“Vanderbilt University educational neuroscientist Sophia Vinci-Booher says the recent study highlights the clear tie between physical actions and concept understanding, “As you’re writing a word, you’re taking this continuous understanding of something and using motor system to create it.” That creation then affects the visual system, where it’s processed again-strengthening the connection between an action and the words associated with it.
根据第一段“But a recent study in Frontiers in Psychology suggests that taking notes with pen and paper is still the best way to learn, especially for young children. (但《心理学前沿》最近的一项研究表明,用笔和纸做笔记仍然是最好的学习方式,尤其是对儿童来说。)”以及文章内容可知,本文主要介绍了手写笔记能增强学习效果,有助于学习。故选B项。
D.It trains employees to be creative.
34.What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A.An interesting example about designing toys.
B.Individuals’ self-motivation for job-seeking.
C.Practical use of Swiss government measures.
D.An employment plan from Columbia Business School.
35.What is the text probably?
A.An introduction. B.A research article.
C.A news report. D.A journal.
【答案】32.A 33.B 34.B 35.A
根据第二段“Mr Galinsky cites an experiment that showed the effect of more concrete(具体的)language. In it, teams were asked to design toys and given a vision statement to guide their behaviour. Teams who were handed a statement with more visual language — to create toys that “… make wide-eyed kids laugh and proud parents smile” — produced more engaging toys than teams who were given something more general.(加林斯基先生引用了一项实验,该实验显示了更具体的语言的效果。在实验中,团队被要求设计玩具,并给出一份视觉性陈述来指导他们的行为。那些被要求制作“能让睁大眼睛的孩子大笑,让骄傲的父母微笑”的玩具的团队,比那些被要求更笼统的团队,制作出了更有吸引力的玩具)”可知,要求更具体的团队制作出了更有吸引力的玩具,即更多视觉语言的陈述是为了显示更具体的语言的效果。由此推知,例子是为了证明加林斯基先生的观点。故选A。
根据第三段“This type of counterfactual (反事实的) thinking can also be used to strengthen employees’ ties to firms: Prompting people to imagine a world in which their company does not exist seems to increase a sense of belonging. (这种反事实思维也可以用来加强员工与公司的联系:促使人们想象一个不存在自己公司的世界,似乎可以增加归属感)”可知,反事实思维在公司中可以提高员工的归属感。故选B。
34.主旨大意题。根据最后一段“Perhaps the most striking idea in Mr Galinsky’s book is that, instead of bosses motivating people from above, individuals can do it for themselves. (也许加林斯基书中最引人注目的观点是,职场中个人可以自我激励,而不是老板从上面激励员工)”可知最后一段主要讲述个人在职场中的自我激励。故选B。
35.推理判断题。根据第一段“But much more practical insights can be found in a coming book called Inspire: The Universal Path for Leading Yourself and Others, by Adam Galinsky, an academic at Columbia Business School. (但在即将出版的《激励:领导自己和他人的通用之路》一书中可以找到更实用的见解,作者是哥伦比亚商学院的学者Adam Galinsky)”结合下文对书中观点的介绍可知,本文主要介绍Adam Galinsky的一本书。故选A。
