第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。
A
Paris Through an Art Lover’s Eyes
To some, Paris is the City of Light. To others, it’s the City of Love. But to art lovers, it’s simply the city of art. With so much to see, it’s hard to know where to start. Here is what caught my eye in Paris.
The Louvre
Built as a military castle in the 13th century, the Louvre later became a royal residence and finally a museum in 1793. Its Egyptian Wing houses over 50,000 objects, including the well-preserved mummy of Pacheri. The Denon Wing displays the French Crown Jewels, and crowds gather around the crown of Louis XV. If you can stand the crowds, try to take a selfie with the Mona Lisa.
Musée d’Orsay
Housed in a former railway station built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, Musée d’Orsay boasts incredible 19th-century paintings. Take the elevator to the top and see the giant clock, with the city framed through it. The museum features works by Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, and many other masters of that era.
The Quai Branly Museum
Before spending hours waiting to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower, stop at Quai Branly, which features native and non-Western art. This is the only museum I found in Paris that speaks so directly and honestly about the impact of colonialism on indigenous culture. Collections explore Aztec society before and after Spanish colonization, along with art from Haiti and objects from Africa and Iran.
Dalí Paris
The largest private collection of Salvador Dalí’s art lives in the heart of Montmartre. Dalí had a passion for time, and here you’ll find melting clocks throughout the galleries. Don’t miss his Tarot watercolors, a giant thumb sculpture, and a Venus with drawers. All the works reflect the artist’s fascination with the inner thoughts.
1. What can visitors see in the Louvre today?
A. Egyptian objects and French Crown Jewels. B. Military weapons from the 13th century.
C. Royal furniture from French kings. D. Paintings by Van Gogh and Dalí.
2. Which museum best shows the influence of colonial rule on native cultures?
A. Dalí Paris. B. The Louvre. C. Musée d’Orsay. D. The Quai Branly Museum.
3. What does the author suggest visitors do in Dalí Paris?
A. Photograph the melting clocks in the galleries. B. Admire Van Gogh’s paintings on the top floor.
C. Study the artist’s fascination with nature. D. See several unusual works by Dalí.
B
Kyle Lybarger, a forester from Alabama, never imagined that his devotion to native plants would earn him unexpected fame on social media. Yet with nearly half a million followers on TikTok, he has successfully turned an unlikely hobby into a driving force for conservation across the southeastern United States.
His realization came from a mistake he now admits. About a decade ago, managing a private hunting forest, Lybarger sprayed weedkiller on a rocky open area and planted non-native species to attract deer and wild turkey. The seeds, however, didn’t take. But along the untreated edges where he hadn’t sprayed or seeded, additional sunlight unleashed a beautiful surprise. A wonderful variety of wildflowers appeared. When a local plant expert pointed out rare species like the Alabama larkspur among them, Lybarger realized painfully: he had killed off an area with a wild seed bank of countless species that were ideal for attracting wildlife, all in order to plant two or three species that weren’t part of the native ecosystem. “That’s kind of when the light bulb went on in my head that managing for biodiversity, and what’s supposed to be there, is probably the best option.”
Today, Lybarger devotes himself to saving the remains of historic grasslands. With over 90% of Alabama’s land private, his mission depends on persuading landowners to allow free care for endangered plants, funded by his online income. In 2023, he teamed with an artist to design a T-shirt featuring the leafy prairie clover, a federally threatened species, to raise awareness. Later, he learned the wooded land where the plants grew was for sale. The campaign raised over $100,000, enabling him to buy 24 acres and place them under conservation, while the maining 20,000 will go to similar efforts.
But he thinks his biggest contribution comes through social media education, influencing people to grow native plants that best support declining pollinators (传粉者) and other insects.
“One person, one yard, one-tenth of an acre can make a bigger impact than you think,” he says.
4. What does the underlined word “unleashed” in Paragraph 2 most probably mean?
A. Produced. B. Prevented. C. Destroyed. D. Replaced.
5. What can be learned about Lybarger’s early forest-management attempt?
A. It produced its intended effects. B. It got expert professional guidance.
C. It harmed local native plant species. D. It increased local wildlife numbers.
6. What was the original aim of the T-shirt campaign?
A. To raise public awareness of species. B. To collect funds for land purchase.
C. To expand his social-media influence. D. To reward the cooperating artist.
7. Which of the following best describes Lybarger’s idea?
A. Big projects can help most. B. Small efforts matter greatly.
C. Social media is the best solution. D. Landowner funding counts a lot.
C
Cultural heritage artifacts (文物) offer insights into historical events as well as daily life and cultural practices in earlier times. They symbolize cultural identity, connecting communities with their history and traditions and fostering continuity. However, preserving them is challenging. Natural disasters, climate change, pollution, exposure to humidity and temperature variation can damage artifacts and heritage sites over time.
Financial limitations further complicate preservation efforts, particularly in developing regions. While modern technology can assist conservation, it demands continuous updates, expensive equipment, and specialized expertise that may not always be available. Experts emphasize effective preservation requires cooperation among governments, international organizations, museums, and local communities, as no single institution can address the problem alone.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) leads in applying radiation technology to cultural heritage conservation. This involves characterizing historically significant objects and aiding their preservation through nuclear techniques, including 2D and 3D imaging, X-ray analysis, and radioisotope dating. These efforts are carried out with specialized institutions in France and Egypt to put the latest scientific advances into use.
Radiation treatment proves particularly valuable in fighting biodegradation (生物降解) of artifacts made from wood and other organic materials. Experts say it is efficient, reliable, and applicable to many heritage collections, from ancient sculptures to historical documents. Compared with traditional methods such as chemical treatments and heating, radiation-based disinfection (消毒) goes much more deeply into materials, achieving superior results without leaving harmful leftovers.
For severely damaged wooden objects that have suffered structural weakness from insect or fungal (真菌的) attack, consolidation using radiation-curable resins (树脂) can be applied. This method saves artifacts that are too weakened to be restored by conventional techniques, offering a last chance for preservation.
An example is a wooden sculpture of Saint Barbara from France, dating from the 15th century. Having suffered serious damage and structural weakening over centuries, the sculpture was first exposed to gamma rays to eliminate hidden infestations (侵扰), followed by conservation and restoration treatments. This case vividly demonstrates how nuclear technology can breathe new life into cultural treasures that might otherwise be lost forever.
8. What is the main purpose of the first paragraph?
A. To compare heritage artifacts. B. To list causes of heritage damage.
C. To introduce value and challenges. D. To explain preservation difficulties.
9. What does the author suggest by saying “no single institution can address the problem alone”?
A. The value of cultural identity. B. The severity of the preservation challenge.
C. The popularity of radiation technology. D. The difficulty of restoring cultural artifacts.
10. What can we learn about consolidation using radiation-curable resins?
A. It can deal with pollution of heritage sites. B. It rescues what’s beyond usual repair.
C. It mainly relies on 2D/3D imaging. D. It removes fungi by heating.
11. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. Difficulties Facing Global Cultural Heritage Protection
B. IAEA: A World Leader in Cultural Heritage Research
C. Nuclear Technology Rescues Endangered Cultural Treasures
D. Traditional Methods for Repairing Organic Cultural Relics

NASA’s High Performance Spaceflight Computing (HPSC) project aims to dramatically improve the computing power of spacecraft. Missions rely on aged yet reliable processors to survive harsh space conditions. But upgraded chips are required to develop autonomous spacecraft, speed up data-driven scientific discovery and support future human missions to the Moon and Mars.
“Building on previous space processors, this new multicore system is fault-tolerant, flexible, and extremely high-performing,” said Eugene Schwanbeck, a NASA program manager. The project’s core is a radiation-resistant processor designed to provide up to 100 times the computing capacity of current spaceflight computers. NASA’s JPL is conducting radiation, heat and cold, and shock tests to reproduce various space-related threats.
Such tests are necessary because space brings serious dangers to electronic equipment. Space radiation and extreme temperature swings can damage electronics. High-energy particles from space may trigger (触发) “safe mode”, shutting down non-essential operations until mission operators resolve the issue. Besides these environment tests, researchers also run high-fidelity (高保真度) landing simulations that process massive landing-sensor data for dealing with planetary exploration missions.
Tests started in February and will continue for months. Early results have been promising: the processor is working as designed, and indications show that it operates at 500 times the performance of the chips currently in use. As a symbolic milestone, the team sent a test email titled “Hello Universe”, honoring early computer development.
Jointly developed by JPL and Microchip, the processor is a palm-sized system-on-a-chip (SoC). Though SoCs are widely used in consumer devices, this version is engineered to endure deep space without any on-site repair. Once approved for spaceflight, it will serve orbiters, rovers and deep-space missions.
The technology will enable autonomous spacecraft to use AI to respond in real time where human input isn’t possible. It will help deep-space missions analyze, store, and transmit data to Earth, accelerating the rate of scientific discovery. It could support future human missions to the Moon and Mars. The technology will also be adapted for Earth-based industries such as aviation and automotive manufacturing.
12. Why does NASA develop new spaceflight computing chips?
A. To reduce deep-space radiation. B. To cut the cost of space exploration.
C. To replace old space computers completely. D. To handle space tasks with stronger computing power.
13. What do we know about the new processor from the early tests?
A. It sends test emails as part of its experiments.
B. It achieves higher performance than planned.
C. It records the history of computer development.
D. It survives extreme temperatures without protection.
14. What is one benefit of the processor’s high performance?
A. Full removal of space radiation risks.
B. Higher repair efficiency for spacecraft in space.
C. Real-time autonomous response in space missions.
D. Full independence of spacecraft from Earth-based control.
15. What can be inferred about the technology from the last paragraph?
A. Its SoC structure is specially designed for space.
B. It has already been put into wide use.
C. Mass-produced chips are offered to defense partners.
D. Its value goes beyond space exploration.

When I first entered university, I enthusiastically chose German as my major, full of interest in German culture. However, my language learning journey turned out to be far more difficult than I had initially imagined. I struggled constantly with tricky German pronunciation, confusing grammar rules and endless vocabulary memorization. What troubled me most, however, was the cultural barrier hidden deeply behind the language. Various German social customs and implicit (含蓄的) cultural expressions always put me in an awkward position, making me feel like a complete outsider. I often felt overwhelmed by the gap between textbook knowledge and real-life communication.
While my classmates adopted different learning strategies and made steady progress day by day, I remained stuck in confusion and frustration. As the end-of-term examination approached, my anxiety grew stronger and more overwhelming. I even gradually lost confidence and secretly thought of giving up my tough major, feeling completely defeated by the discouraging linguistic challenges and cultural barriers ahead.
One quiet autumn evening, I attended an outdoor English corner held on campus to release my pent-up pressure. The dusk fell gently, with a cool wind brushing my cheeks and fallen leaves dancing silently on the ground. There, I met Leon, a German exchange student. Attracted by China’s booming development and profound traditional culture, he came to China for a one-year exchange program. He was particularly fascinated by Chinese characters and calligraphy, deeply curious about the cultural stories hidden behind every single stroke (笔画). Nevertheless, he also encountered huge obstacles in learning Chinese, such as mastering the four tones. He often mixed up different tones and struggled immensely with daily communication, and failed to truly understand the cultural connotations (内涵) carried by Chinese characters.
That evening, we chatted sincerely and poured out our inner troubles to each other. The surrounding wind quieted down, and the whole corner sank into soft silence.

【答案】4. A 5. C 6. A 7. B

【答案】8. C 9. B 10. B 11. C

此处为后置定语,mean与前面名词flavors之间是被动关系,be meant to do意为“本应该”,所以用过去分词meant。

Para 2. Months later, our cooperation turned out to be fruitful.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】例文
Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck me. Why not team up for mutual‑language learning? Excited, I suggested teaching Leon Chinese calligraphy and the cultural tales behind each character in return for his help with my German. Leon nodded vigorously with a relieved grin. We met twice a week in the library. I showed him how to hold the writing brush and shared Chinese cultural stories; he patiently corrected my pronunciation, explained grammar and unfolded those implicit German cultural expressions troubling me. Thus our journey of mutual learning got started.
Months later, our cooperation turned out to be fruitful. My German improved dramatically. The cultural barrier melted away and I no longer felt like an outsider. I finished the end‑of‑term exam calmly, abandoning the thought of giving up my major. Meanwhile, Leon mastered Chinese four tones and became delighted to share stories behind Chinese characters. Looking back on that autumn evening, we felt a warm sense of achievement. We formed a precious friendship and built a bridge connecting our two cultures.
