先看题干问什么:问 when / where / who 的是细节题,问 probably means 的是词义题,问 main idea / best title 的是主旨题,问 purpose 的是目的题。 (The Choir Group / The Instrument Group / The Music Appreciation Group),再按题干纵向比对。 二、结合本次特训题目的实战点拨 【点拨1】转折词后才是答案——以 Passage 1 题 2 为例:原文设问的是“原定地点为什么改”,定位到第二段便见转折:“However, an examination will take place there, so the courtyard is now our only location.” However 提示前面“originally planned to perform beside the science rooms”已经作废,so 之后给出新地点,原因即“那里要考试”。 【点拨2】词义题看同义复现——以 Passage 2 题 3 为例:原文用谭盾自己的话作解释:“My music is to dream without boundaries.” 紧接着一句把“没有界限”摊开说:过去与现在、日常物品与乐器、中国传统音乐与现代西方音乐“all mix together to make a new type”。 The Music Appreciation Group 一栏的原文是:“Not good at singing or playing an instrument? No problem! This group is for students who love listening to and talking about music.” “Not good at … playing an instrument”与题干“can’t play any instrument”同义,“love listening to music”与“loves listening to music”同义,双向吻合。 【点拨5】中文选项的词义题靠语境定褒贬——以 Passage 5 题 2 为例:treasure 出现在“They believe traditional culture is a treasure.”一句,前文说作曲家“take old folk stories, ancient poems or natural sounds as their creation materials”,后文说“this does not mean they refuse modern musical skills”。 老人最后一句把两次经历合成一个道理:“The secret of happiness is to see all the wonders of the world and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon.” “wonders of the world”对应享受,“drops of oil”对应责任,二者缺一不可。 本文首段先摆现象“Most people follow others blindly”,再在段末亮出立场:“Actually, there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow others blindly.” 【点拨8】时间细节要落到具体动作——以 Passage 8 题 2 为例:文中出现两个年龄:三岁开始跳舞(“she started dancing at age 3”),六岁改学中国古典舞(“at age 6, she changed to Chinese classical dance”)。 Passage 1 To: Student Music Team Subject: Our First Live Lunchtime Performance Dear team, The head teacher has agreed to a live performance in the library courtyard. It should welcome listeners into the library rather than turn the entrance into a crowded concert hall. Please prepare two short pieces. Use instruments that do not need electricity. A microphone will be provided for introductions only. Keep the main path clear, and place the chairs beside the flower beds. Listeners must be able to leave quietly at any point. We originally planned to perform beside the science rooms. However, an examination will take place there, so the courtyard is now our only location. If it rains, we will postpone the event; moving indoors would disturb the readers. Before approving a piece, let two students who have never heard it listen. Ask what mood it creates. A familiar tune is welcome, but a new piece is also suitable if those listeners can explain the feeling it gives them. Please send your final choices and seating plan to me by Thursday. Ms Lane 1.Which plan meets the requirements? A.Put a speaker in the main path. B.Play an erhu beside the flower beds. C.Use the microphone for every instrument. D.Move the chairs across the library entrance. 2.Why was the original location changed? A.It had no flower beds. B.Students could not find it. C.The instruments needed electricity. D.An examination would take place nearby. 3.What matters most when a new piece is chosen? A.New listeners can understand its mood. B.Every student already knows its name. C.It is the longest piece available. D.It uses the loudest instruments. 4.What does Ms Lane ask the team to balance? A.Ticket prices and food sales. B.Old instruments and new instruments. C.A welcoming performance and other people’s needs. D.The science examination and their own marks. Passage 2 Can the sounds of nature be music? For the famous composer Tan Dun, the answer is yes. He believes the best music comes from nature, like the sounds of rushing water and blowing wind. In 1998, Tan Dun wrote an amazing piece called Water Concerto. This piece of music does not use any traditional musical instruments like the piano or violin. Instead, Tan makes over 50 different sounds simply by controlling the speed of water flow. He uses water as an instrument. “They’re the sounds of nature, and they create different pictures in different minds,” Tan said. Tan Dun’s educational background has allowed him to build a bridge between Eastern and Western styles of music. He successfully brings them together in his works. For example, the award music he wrote for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games used traditional Chinese music and the sounds of an ancient Chinese bell, but in a Western style. “My music is to dream without boundaries,” Tan once said. In his works, the past and the present, everyday objects and musical instruments, traditional Chinese music and modern Western music all mix together to make a new type — music without boundaries. 1.What is the main idea of the passage? A.The life story of Tan Dun. B.The history of the Olympic Games music. C.Tan Dun’s unique style of “music without boundaries”. D.How to play the Water Concerto. 2.What is special about Water Concerto? A.It was written for the Beijing Olympics. B.It uses an orchestra of 50 musicians. C.It is a famous Italian opera. D.It uses the sounds of water instead of instruments. 3.The underlined word “boundaries” in the last paragraph probably means “________”. A.dreams B.limits C.sounds D.styles 4.According to the passage, Tan Dun’s music for the Beijing 2008 Olympics ________. A.only used traditional Chinese instruments B.was in a purely Western style C.mixed Chinese and Western musical styles D.was not very successful Passage 3 Notice: School Music Club Recruitment Are you a music lover? It is the most popular of the huqin family, and it has a long history. The modern erhu developed from the xiqin. It was played by many ethnic minorities (少数民族) during the Tang Dynasty (朝代). In the Song Dynasty, musicians began to use the erhu to play different kinds of music, and it became quite a popular instrument. With the rise of some forms of folk art, the art of the erhu developed quickly during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It became an important accompanying (伴奏) instrument in different folk music. At present, it is used in both traditional and modern music, such as in pop, rock and jazz. It has even become a solo (独奏) instrument. One of the most famous musical pieces played on the erhu is Erquan Yingyue. As the erhu was mainly played by common people and the playing skills were transmitted orally (口头地), there are few written records about the erhu. To study the history and the development of the erhu, historians usually turn to ancient paintings. Some huqin pictures were found in Yulin Caves (榆林窟) and Eastern Thousand Buddha Caves (东千佛洞) in Gansu. 1.What is true about the erhu? A.It has a long history. B.It is a Western instrument. C.It comes from the drum family. D.It is popular with young people. 2.When did the erhu develop quickly? A.During the Han Dynasty. B.During Tang Dynasty. C.During Ming and Qing Dynasties. D.During Qin Dynasty. 3.What is the writer’s purpose? A.To encourage us to learn erhu. B.To tell us the history about the erhu. C.To help us enjoy some erhu works. D.To ask us to protect the erhu music. Passage 5 Music as a cultural bridge Nowadays, more and more Chinese composers get world-wide attention. Just like Tan Dun, many of them try to combine traditional Chinese elements with modern international music. They do not only depend on common musical instruments; they also look for inspiration from nature and daily life. Some composers take old folk stories, ancient poems or natural sounds as their creation materials. They believe traditional culture is a treasure. However, this does not mean they refuse modern musical skills. Instead, they learn useful skills from Western music and put them into Chinese-style works. In this way, their music can be accepted and enjoyed by listeners both at home and abroad. These composers hope their music can act as a cultural bridge. When foreign audiences listen to their pieces, they can know more about Chinese history, culture and feelings. At the same time, Chinese listeners can also feel the beauty of international music styles. Music does not need translation. Beautiful sounds can directly touch people’s hearts, no matter what language people speak. Of course, creating such mixed‑style music is never easy. Composers need to spend a long time studying both local culture and foreign musical knowledge. But their hard work pays off. More and more people around the world begin to know and love Chinese‑style modern music. 1.What do many modern Chinese composers learn from Western music? A.Old folk stories B.Useful modern musical skills C.Ancient Chinese poems D.Natural sounds from rivers 2.What does the underlined word “treasure” mean in the text? 3.Which of the following is TRUE about music? A.Music has clear cultural boundaries. B.You must understand its words to enjoy music. C.Music carries people’s feelings and ideas. D.All music works need expensive instruments. 4.What is the best title for the passage? A.The history of pop music B.How to become a composer C.Music: a bridge between cultures D.Different kinds of musical instruments Passage 6 A young man once asked a wise old man, “What is the secret to a happy life?” The old man smiled and handed him a teaspoon with two drops of oil in it. “Walk around my castle for two hours,” he said, “but don’t let the oil spill.” The young man started walking, keeping his eyes fixed on the spoon. He was so careful not to spill the oil that he saw nothing else. When he returned, the old man asked, “Did you see the beautiful tapestries in my dining hall? Did you see the flowers in my garden?” The young man was embarrassed and admitted he had seen nothing. His only concern was not to spill the oil. “Then go back and enjoy the wonders of my world,” the old man said. “You cannot trust a man if he doesn’t know the beauty of my castle.” The young man felt relieved. He picked up the spoon and walked around again, this time looking at all the art on the walls and the ceiling. He saw the gardens and the mountains around the castle. He saw everything in great detail. When he returned, he described everything he had seen. “But where are the drops of oil I gave you?” asked the old man. The young man looked at the spoon and found that the oil was gone. “The secret of happiness is to see all the wonders of the world and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon,” the old man said. 1.What was the young man’s task? A.To clean the castle. B.To paint a picture of the garden. C.To walk around the castle without spilling the oil. D.To describe the beauty of the castle. 2.Why did the young man see nothing on his first walk? A.Because there was nothing to see. B.Because he was too focused on the oil. C.Because the old man didn’t allow him to look around. D.Because he was walking too fast. 3.What happened to the oil on the young man’s second walk? A.He drank it. B.He gave it to the old man. C.He spilled it. D.It turned into water. 4.What is the main lesson of the story? A.We should always be careful. B.We should enjoy the beauty of the world. C.We should listen to the advice of the wise. D.We should balance our duties and our enjoyment of life. Passage 7 Most people follow others blindly. Some people feel it is safe to follow other people. In some rare cases it might be right, but in most cases this can make a big mistake. Ninety-five percent of people never succeed because they are following the wrong group. Actually, there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow others blindly. According to a study, people always follow others when they aren’t sure about the direction they should take. This means a large number of people could be following others without understanding what’s right and what’s wrong. This attracts more people to follow them and the result is that most people move in a certain direction even if it is wrong. A man who wants to be successful always hopes for guidance from others and he usually follows the same path as most people, but the question this man never asks himself is, “Are all of those people successful?” Of course not. If you want to follow a group, then follow a successful one. However, in real life you’ll only find one successful person among hundreds of people, and that’s why following others makes no sense at all. Most people act without thinking wisely. If you always follow others because they’re greater than you, then sooner or later you’ll discover that you’re making decisions you might regret later. However, should we never follow others? No. But just think wisely before you make a decision. If you find others are right, there is no problem with following them, but if you doubt the direction they’re moving in, don’t follow them blindly. 1.Why do most people like to follow others blindly according to the passage? A.Because they don’t want to be different. B.Because they believe it’s the safest and easiest choice. C.Because they’re sure to take the right direction. D.Because they want to make themselves successful. 2.What does the word “rare” mean in the passage? 3.What’s the main idea of the passage? A.Advantages of following others. B.Examples of following others. C.Reasons for not following others blindly. D.Ways of following others. Passage 8 Gu Jinling, a 12-year-old girl from Beijing, has become a star with over 2.5 million fans. In her videos, she does Chinese classical dance to bring old stories to life. She recreates the movements of flying characters from Dunhuang wall paintings and draws ideas from Chu Ci, a book of poetry from the Warring States Period. Many people love her beautiful clothes and dance moves. They are also impressed by her great skills at such a young age. However, Internet users call her an “old artist” as she started dancing at age 3 and has danced for nearly 10 years. “I have studied calligraphy (书法) and played the piano and guitar, but I didn’t enjoy them,” she said. “In the end, I realized that dancing is what really makes me happy.” Gu first trained in ballet (芭蕾), but at age 6, she changed to Chinese classical dance because she liked its beautiful clothes. She also finds it more beautiful and expressive (有表现力的) than many other dance styles. Gu needs to learn a lot about ancient Chinese culture. Her home is full of books on Chinese wall paintings. She enjoys reading them to study how people in the past looked and moved. When she travels, she often visits museums to look at ancient dance statues. Gu believes that small details are important in showing the true style of ancient Chinese dance. For example, in the “Rebound Pipa” movement from Dunhuang dance, dancers must first look down, and then into the distance, to create the feeling of watching over the world. The “Floating Clouds” move uses long silk ribbons and needs great control to look soft and smooth. 1.Why is Gu Jinling called “an old artist”? A.Because she has 2.5 million fans. B.Because she is 12 years old. C.Because she has danced for about 10 years. D.Because she likes Chinese classical dance best. 2.When did Gu Jinling begin to learn Chinese classical dance? A.At 3. B.At 6. C.At 10. D.At 12. 3.What can we infer from her example of “Rebound Pipa” movement? A.Paying attention to small details is important. B.Dunhuang dance is certainly the most difficult dance. 根据文章第三段“Use instruments that do not need electricity... place the chairs beside the flower beds.” 2.根据文章第四段“However, an examination will take place there, so the courtyard is now our only location.” 3.根据文章第五段“a new piece is also suitable if those listeners can explain the feeling it gives them.” 4.根据文章第二段“It should welcome listeners into the library rather than turn the entrance into a crowded concert hall.” Passage 2 Can the sounds of nature be music? A.only used traditional Chinese instruments B.was in a purely Western style C.mixed Chinese and Western musical styles D.was not very successful 【答案】 1.C 2.D 3.B 4.C 【导语】本文介绍了作曲家谭盾秉持“无边界音乐”的创作理念,将自然声响、东西方音乐元素等融合,打造出独具特色的音乐作品。 2.根据第二段中“This piece of music does not use any traditional musical instruments like the piano or violin. Instead, Tan makes over 50 different sounds simply by controlling the speed of water flow. He uses water as an instrument.” 4.根据第三段中“the award music he wrote for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games used traditional Chinese music and the sounds of an ancient Chinese bell, but in a Western style”可知,谭盾为2008年北京奥运会创作的颁奖音乐使用了中国传统音乐和中国古钟的声音,却以西方风格呈现,是中西音乐风格的融合。 Passage 3 Notice: School Music Club Recruitment Are you a music lover? What about the erhu? The erhu is a traditional Chinese instrument. 第一段明确提到“The erhu is a traditional Chinese instrument... and it has a long history.”,说明二胡有悠久的历史。 2.第二段提到“the art of the erhu developed quickly during the Ming and Qing Dynasties”,说明二胡在明清时期发展迅速。 3. A.The history of pop music B.How to become a composer C.Music: a bridge between cultures D.Different kinds of musical instruments 【答案】 1.B 2.C 3.C 4.C 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,介绍中国当代作曲家融合中西音乐,以音乐作为文化桥梁,向世界传播中国文化。 根据第二段“Instead, they learn useful skills from Western music and put them into Chinese-style works.” 2.根据第二段“They believe traditional culture is a treasure.” 3.根据第三段“When foreign audiences listen to their pieces, they can know more about Chinese history, culture and feelings.” Passage 6 A young man once asked a wise old man, “What is the secret to a happy life?” The old man smiled and handed him a teaspoon with two drops of oil in it. 第一段中老人对年轻人说:“Walk around my castle for two hours, but don’t let the oil spill”,由此可知,年轻人的任务是端着盛有油的勺子绕城堡行走,且不能让油洒出来。 2.第二段中提到“He was so careful not to spill the oil that he saw nothing else”,由此可知,年轻人第一次走时因为太专注于不让油洒出来,所以什么风景都没有看到。 3.第五段中老人问“But where are the drops of oil I gave you?”,年轻人看向勺子发现“the oil was gone”,由此可知,第二次行走时年轻人只顾欣赏风景,把油洒掉了。 4.最后一段老人总结道:“The secret of happiness is to see all the wonders of the world and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon”,由此可知,幸福的秘密在于既要欣赏世界的美妙,又不能忘记勺子上的油,即要在生活乐趣与自身职责之间取得平衡。 Passage 7 Most people follow others blindly. 根据第一段“Most people follow others blindly. Some people feel it is safe to follow other people.”、第三段“A man who wants to be successful always hopes for guidance from others and he usually follows the same path as most people”,以及第四段“Most people act without thinking wisely.” 2.根据“In some rare cases it might be right, but in most cases this can make a big mistake.” 3.根据第一段“Actually, there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow others blindly.” Passage 8 Gu Jinling, a 12-year-old girl from Beijing, has become a star with over 2.5 million fans.
